The first time he couldn't recall why he woke so afraid, why J was the first thing he thought of. The second he couldn't shake the feeling she was hurt, that something was terribly wrong. By the third, he'd asked someone walking around the medbay. By the fourth, he wished he could just stay in the ignorance of sleep. He spends fitful moments awake trying to keep from crying. He doesn't quite manage it.
It was crawling into the morning hours when he realizes he isn't alone. In the space between one short sleep to the next, he's gained a presence at his side. He doesn't need to be psychic, to have her powers, to know who it is.
He doesn't open his eyes, but he reaches a hand out blindly in her direction.]
They called you? [A pause and then with a complication of surety and regret:] You know.

For those he doesn't know well, he pretends to sleep. There's a shame in him he doesn't want the masses to see, and he needs to be prodded and forced into talking. Everyone must have a lot of questions about what happened, about how his stupid plan had lost the ship its singer. He knows this, he's just afraid to tell he doesn't have any good answers.
For friends, for family and for those who's conversation he can't escape, he keeps his eyes open. He won't make the first move to talk, gaze anywhere he doesn't have to meet the expression on someone's face. He's expecting a lecture, he's expecting yelling. And it's clear from the resignation in his form that he has no plans to argue back.]

Medbay Pain Train | OTA
Peter is heavily medicated, but though he drifts in and out of consciousness Wanda rarely leaves his side. Sometimes she is numb, not entirely here and staring with unfocused eyes at their joined hands. This is her fault. She could have stopped this with a flick of her wrist a long time ago, but...surely Steve and Billy would not have approved. And her anger is a dangerous, volatile thing that even frightens Wanda sometimes.
But when being 'better' and a 'hero' comes at this kind of price, it's hard to want to keep the raging storm waiting under her skin in check.]

OTA; Holding Cells/Will Match Prose or Brackets
Now that's he's marginally healed, his fire has come back. Maybe he can be heard from down the hall, cursing the very existence of the program held in the cell next to him. Maybe he can be seen darting around the small room, continuous and increasingly frustrated laps. Maybe he's caught in a moment of reflection, staring past cell walls into something from a nightmare memory.
This time he does not hide from conversation, doesn't try to keep the shame or anger or hurt from prying eyes. The damage is done, the people have already spoken. And he's ready for those arguments now.]
