Where: Medbay and the Hold
What: Directly after this. Peter really screwed up and now he's hanging out in the medbay until he recovers. Later he hangs out in the hold. Wanda's around to feild all your questions about how stupid her twin is.

Cass, I would never say anything bad about your looks. [He looks her over as he says it, all the intent of a teenage boy's thoughts showing in his face.] You've got nothing to be ashamed of, it's just. You know. Some girls aren't into splashing around in their underwear. They get all prudish about it.

I'm using to having to take my clothes off for people. You don't have to worry about me being prudish.

[There's a smirk as she speaks, letting him know that it's not really an issue for her at all.]

You just focus on making it through the next few days, okay?

['Having to?' he mouths, smile weakening. There's a question there he wants to ask, but doesn't have the ability to. It's not just that Rinzler is standing nearby, but it's the same awkward frozen feeling he'd gotten when he'd caught J in the elevator. Something too emotionally mature for him to handle.]

I'll be fine. [It comes out a little weak, a half beat too slow as his focus is clearly elsewhere.] It's just waiting it out. How bad can it be?

[deal]

[Grateful for the fact he only mouths his question and doesn't press it further, she forms a tight lipped smile and shrugs.]

For me? I'd just sleep the whole time. But for you? You're gonna go crazy, not being able to run.

[She's not all that close to him, not yet. But she considers him to be her friend, and a part of her group here. So she's made a point to pick up on the fact that he's a guy that needs to be on the move to keep from going restless.]

I could punch you hard enough that you pass out for a few hours.

[For a moment he feels very exposed, because she's hit the nail on the head. Sometimes he doesn't think the people here realize how his powers effect him, and it's fine. He doesn't talk about it much, never saw the point in worrying people with that aspect of who he was. So it's always weird when someone catches on about it so quickly.]

As tempting at that is, I'm not really interested in another injury so soon. Maybe next time, right? Besides, I can handle it. It's just a few days. I can handle a few days.

[She motions for him to move in closer to the bars with a crook of her finger.]

You can make it.

[Her voice is soft, but firm in believing that he can. He needs support, and maybe a little more comfort than he wants to admit, so she holds out her hand for him to take. She wants him to know that he's not alone, even after whatever all has happened. People don't generally see her as a gentle person, but she can be when she puts her mind to it.]

Just don't do anything else to get you put in here again.

[takeitslow]

[He hesitates but slowly, slow for him anyway, moves in closer. He slips his hand on top of hers. He's surprised, and a little grateful, by the gesture.]

I'm not planning on getting caught again. [That's not at all what she means, he knows that. But he can't say for certain what he'll do until he knows that Rinzler is no longer a threat to his family.]

[She's gentle when she wants to be, and now is one of those times. She brings her hand out from under his and touches at his cheek.]

Good.

[His not getting caught is all she can ask for. Giving his cheek a few light pats, she pulls her hand away. There's no reason to get totally sappy.]

[It is sappy, by his standards. Something like what his mother or sisters would do. The acknowledgement of a screw up wrapped in an air of not caring. Do better, try again.

It's kind of strange coming from someone not bearing his last name, or who has made their claim on the family. But strange isn't bad. He smiles at her, tossing his head away from the touch in a boyish attempt to play it off.]

[Pleased that he didn't make a deal out of that affection she's just shown him, she smiles back at him in return.]

Try not to run in too many circles in the meantime.

You know you don't have to right? It kind of sucks down here. [He's a little impressed she would offer anyway.] But if you do, could you bring me something from cafe? I know the adult barista, we're kind of friends. So don't tell her its for me.
