Where: Medbay and the Hold
What: Directly after this. Peter really screwed up and now he's hanging out in the medbay until he recovers. Later he hangs out in the hold. Wanda's around to feild all your questions about how stupid her twin is.

[ See? He was totally right. He feels a little bad about making Peter almost-laugh and he falls into uncharacteristic silence for a moment. He waits for Peter to speak again before he finally responds. ]

You think he's gonna keep at it after this?

[ More than Peter's heath or even the fate of J, Yata thinks this is the most important issue right now. Injuries can heal and (here, at least) even the dead can come back, but if Rinzler is still dangerous then Yata would rather not find out the hard way. ]

[He doesn’t mind the pain from the laugh, it’s almost nice actually. To have something that could nearly pass for a normal conversation.]

He’s never going to stop.

[There’s conviction there. He’d seen nothing in Rinzler that told him that the program would change, was even capable of changing. Of course, he’d never looked for that. He saw what supported his already formed ideas. But now with the blood of two people on those blades, Peter didn’t care if that was the end of Rinzler’s crimes. It was two too many. ]

What’s the worst he’ll get? Sometime locked away? That’s not going to stop anyone.

[The same could be said for him.]

[ The assertion doesn't surprise Yata one bit. He's dealt with people like Rinzler before, albeit not quite that persistent, and he's never known a single one that let himself get talked down. ]

Y'think he could just get left behind on the next planet?

[ He doubts it's something the captains would agree to and there's no guarantee it'll stick - but when death is only sometimes permanent it strikes Yata as a better idea than just sitting around and hoping for the best. ]

[He snorts again, a small shark-like grin working its way onto his face. It's a vicious sort of idea and he loves it.]

We're a pretty big crew. Mistakes like that were bound to happen sometime, right?

I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

[ Which makes it totally reasonable that it could happen now! ]

.... If they even let him off the ship. You think the captains'd risk it?

[He shakes his head. His tone is scathing, not direction to Yata but the people in charge.]

I don't think the captains care what happens after they let someone out of the hold. They don't seem to care about much of anything until someone's dead.
