Medbay Pain Train | OTA
Peter is heavily medicated, but though he drifts in and out of consciousness Wanda rarely leaves his side. Sometimes she is numb, not entirely here and staring with unfocused eyes at their joined hands. This is her fault. She could have stopped this with a flick of her wrist a long time ago, but...surely Steve and Billy would not have approved. And her anger is a dangerous, volatile thing that even frightens Wanda sometimes.
But when being 'better' and a 'hero' comes at this kind of price, it's hard to want to keep the raging storm waiting under her skin in check.]
((ooc: either format is fine!))

[She lets some silence hang between them before speaking.] I'm glad he's going to be alright.
no subject
But for how long? This is not the first time they have fought. Rinzler is not going to stop, not after this.
no subject
No, he seems inherently violent and prone to seeing the world in very basic terms. He contacted me after Ploiatos' cell was opened by Sans and Papyrus, demanding to know why we haven't thrown him out the airlock.
...Wanda, can you tell me anything that could help me solve this? [She says, turning to her friend with conflicted eyes.] We can't separate them, we can't throw anybody out an airlock, there has to be a thread we can trace back to.
no subject
[Her hands clench into fists, nails digging into her palms.]
Rinzler's dangerous. He doesn't care who he hurts. Even if you could separate them, how long would it be before this happens to someone else?

It makes her throat tight to see Peter so still in a hospital bed. Tears prick her eyes at the way Wanda holds his hand. She's talked with Wanda at the café, but never about Peter.
Allison is upset and the words slip out, hoarse and foolish.]
Was the other Peter this stupid? [A beat.] Fuck. No. I don't- that wasn't- sorry. I'm sorry. I- I'm sorry.
[The last apology is directed more at Peter's unconscious form than Wanda. She wipes her misty eyes.]
no subject
[The correction is numb and automatic; Wanda doesn't even look up. This is something she's asked herself over and over since she learned what happened. Would Pietro have told her sooner? Would he have even needed to?
Either way, she thinks this would have happened differently. Peter doesn't have the same life experiences and doesn't know to rely on her. He's too used to being the big brother, to expecting complete honesty from her while keeping anything dangerous safely out of her sight.
Maybe it was foolish to think that she could treat them both the same way.]
He's an older brother.
no subject
[She's so sorry about so many things, the top of which is about how useless she's been. Could she have done something to prevent this? Should she have known Peter was planning something? Was she too pathetic for him to even ask for her hell?
So many 'what ifs'.]
That's what he told me. [She gives a little laugh with little humor.] Even though you're older than him, he's still the older brother.
He was always more like a younger brother to me. Stupid, immature brat...
[She insults him because she's angry and she cares, and damn, now she's actually crying.]
no subject
She looks back to him, eyes dry but distant. Crying came easier earlier in the day when she was alone.]
We will do terrible things for love.

He likes Wanda well enough, after all. And she is, without a doubt, one of the most terrifying people on this ship, after Billy. Loki knows well enough to never underestimate anyone who might perhaps be pulled under the rough Maximoff family tree, no matter what universe they come from. His visit is half to talk to Wanda as something approaching a friend, half to make sure she isn't about to rip the ship apart in search of revenge- something else Maximoffs seem prone to, back home.
He approaches softly, fingers reaching to rest on Wanda's arm. It's potentially not the safest route when dealing with a distracted and possibly distraught person of some power, but Loki's fairly sure he can dodge- and besides, life's no fun without a little danger.]
Wanda? Have you left the medbay at all today?
no subject
Perhaps it's more terrifying that she has enough power to literally burn someone out of existence and not touch a single thing around them.
But for now she is just lost in her own thoughts and memories. She's aware of someone coming in, of course, but Wanda still startles at the touch.]
...Loki? [The emotional exhaustion is evident in her voice.] What time is it?
[In other words, no. She hasn't.]
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow at her, fingers closing around her wrist. Verity never minded the physical contact, Billy certainly doesn't- he just hopes it works much the same for Wanda.]
You're going to insist on eating here, aren't you?
[He's not sure that's really the best plan, but then again, what does Loki know of grief and worry on this kind of scale?]
no subject
I don't know if I can eat.
[Her stomach is all twisted up in knots and food might not actually stay down at her current stress level. But Wanda doesn't pull away from the hand at her wrist, won't struggle if he tries to pull her out of here. Loki's a lot stronger than she is, she's running on fumes, and she doesn't trust her control of her powers right now, even for something as minor and harmless as rooting herself to the spot.
Rinzler's the only person she actually wants to hurt, after all.]
And...I don't think I should leave him.
[What would Peter think if he woke up again and she wasn't here? She doesn't trust him not to jump to the worst conclusion in his current mental state.]

[By the time he hears what's happened, he's there, both worry for Peter and Wanda fueling him to hurry to the medbay to check on things, to see what's really going on. It's always so much easier to gauge how someone is doing by actually seeing them after all.
When he approaches Wanda, he doesn't sit to join her, but he does slip his hands on to her shoulders-- a comforting gesture he hopes.]
Hey...
no subject
He's going to be all right.
no subject
He lets out a relieved breath at that and gives her a reassuring squeeze.]
And how about you?

It's all right. It's hard to wake him.
[Wanda might know this from a bit of unwanted experience - it looks like she might have been crying recently.]
no subject
He will recover.
[He reassures, as he takes a better look at her.]
You look... tired.
no subject
[It's just hard to look at Peter and not have flashbacks to Sokovia. Once again, this was entirely preventable and once again she's failed him.]
I'll be all right. [Maybe? Probably? She doesn't even know what time it is; the hand with the MID is currently occupied.]

[Leaning against the door jam, occupying a space that was definitely empty a few moments ago, Sans shuffles his hands deeper into his pockets. It's not a pretty sight, and one that's nostalgic for all the wrong reasons. He remains in the doorway, waiting to receive permission -- explicit or implied -- before entering further into the room.
These two have had enough invasions for a lifetime.]
How is he?
[It's a roundabout way of asking how Wanda is, but one that Sans knows he'd prefer if their shoes were reversed. He's got a brother, too. They always come first, in their own way.]
no subject
He will be all right.
[So better than her Pietro. It could have been so much worse.]
But I don't know what happens now.
[Are they going to seal his powers the way they did to Ade? That would destroy a small part of Peter, she's sure of it. And Rinzler's certainly not going to let this rest when they let him out.]
no subject
Well, there's going to be judgement. [Sans settles beside her, laying out the next few steps as plainly as he can. Wanda doesn't need the walk through, he knows that, but it's comforting to have some sort of plan. At least, that's what people tell him.] And then after that, Peter will be free again and we can both give him a piece of our minds.
[He tries for levity, winking in her direction at the joke. His exhausted eyes cut some of the mirth, unfortunately.]
no subject
Rinzler is not going to stop.
[He can't, whether by choice or programming. And to think that all of this started over mostly harmless teenage trash talk.]
There are many people Peter cares about who wouldn't be as lucky as me if Rinzler attacked them.
