He still drops by the ship anyway, if nothing else then for his own peace of mind and to make sure everything's alright at the department. Which is what he's currently doing with a couple of screens pulled up over the holotable, when suddenly the figure of a woman takes shape right in front of him.
He doesn't startle much, though. He just leans away a little, eyebrows raising, and when she speaks up his lips quirk with a trace of amusement. ]
Thanks. [ He refuses to take that as any less than a compliment and he'll just ignore that sass, thank you very much. ]
I'm... it's nice. You're... uh, hi? [ A new arrival? Or a new feature? He's not even sure. But he is sure that he would know by now if there was an AI installed onto the ship's systems that could take the shape of a woman before now. ]

Hi.
[ Yeah, she's just going to let that hang for a few seconds just to bug him. The confusion is entertaining. But she decides to play nice from there, her hands going to rest on her hips. ]
I got here at the beginning of the month, along with the rest of the new crew. Been trying to get in a chat with the science department, but you've clearly been busy.
[ Pointed look at The Shirt. Honestly though, having read up on all the things that have happened around here since the network was implemented, she thinks it's a good thing these guys are getting a break. Even if it leaves her a bit bored on the ship most of the time. Surely she'll have all the time in the world with the crew members soon enough, she just has to make an effort at being patient. Which is a challenge, honestly, when a single second without doing anything feels like an eternity to you. ]
I'm the AI construct designated CTN 0452-9. But you can just call me Cortana.

It explains a lot. Well, alright, the first part only explains a portion of it, but enough for Bruce to understand why he'd never seen her before. It? No, her. He's pretty sure it's 'her'.
He glances down at the shirt and raises an eyebrow, shooting a look just as pointed back at her. You can say what you want, no person or AI is going to convince him that this shirt isn't nice. Plus, it's really breezy and comfortable. ]
Ah. Now it all makes sense. [ Said with a good amount of interest and a bit of fascination too. Bruce is no stranger to AI systems by any means, but it's still something else to meet one quite this fleshed out. Almost literally, even. ] It's nice to meet you, then, Cortana. I'm Bruce Banner. Sorry I haven't been around much, but I figured we deserved the downtime as much as anyone else.

His reaction to further attention directed at his shirt draws more amusement from her, but okay, if he really likes it that much... Cortana will probably let it go. For now, anyway. Let him enjoy his horrible taste in patterns.
Having gone through the Directory almost first thing on entering the Moira's systems, she's naturally already matched his picture to his first name. It's not something she'll mention, not since they're introducing themselves to one another, and it's possible some people here may not react well to it. ]
A pleasure, Bruce. And it's all right, I'm only teasing. I've gone over what's been happening these last few months and you absolutely do deserve the downtime.
[ It's just that she's the tiniest bit salty because all the relaxation time has left her with far too much free time and far too little crew to get to know. Well, that and that she can't exactly get out there and enjoy herself without having an actual body. ]
I figured I'd catch you eventually. And if you're in a hurry to get back, don't let me keep you. Might as well enjoy that sun while you can get it. We'll have plenty of time to chat in the future, I'm sure.
[ Although, she hopes she can keep him at least a little while. She's interested in discussing the department, as well as his home universe. ]

He offers a placid but tense smile when she says she's been getting caught up on what's been happening, choosing to just gloss over it and leave it at that. Evidently it's something he doesn't want to talk about, but then again that can't be much of a surprise. Ranging from planetary destruction to dying three times over thanks to a faulty reverted Ingress system, Bruce has had his fair share of very unpleasant experiences since coming here. ]
No, it's fine. I'll stick around for a bit. I'm sure I'll have time to enjoy the beach later on. [ Besides he's still running a few scans on the Ingress and planet both, so he can just chat with her while waiting for the results. ]
Anything in particular you'd like to know?
no subject
Excellent.
[ Not even bothering to cover how pleased his staying has made her, her smile only widens happily. Even if it's only a short period of time that they get today, at least it's something. ]
You have no idea how boring it is around here while everyone else is off enjoying themselves. But yes, of course! So much I'd like to know, actually, but starting with the basics seems the best diving in point.
I'd love to hear about what your department has been working on--past, present, even possible ideas for the future.
[ That may be a bit beyond basic, given that she's kind of asking for everything they've done and will do, though she's honestly all right if he simply chooses one time frame to focus on. ]

He makes note of every expression and lilt in her voice, the natural ease of her motions even when she's only a holographic projection. Makes him wonder if she ever thought about having a body built for herself. He'll leave that question for later, though. ]
Wow. You ask for a lot, don't you?
[ But he agrees, and he starts giving her a rundown of all the places they've visited, what the ship has gone through, whatever issues have there been among the crew. He skims on the parts that involve the Hulk, and as he goes on, he shows her files, projects, holographic projections he himself has built during their journey so far. It's a lot, granted, but she has access to the computer and he has no doubt that she has the ability to process all the information very quickly. ]
As of late, I've been focusing on studying the Ingress. It's an incredible but completely foreign piece of technology, though, so it's a slow process. So far I only have some energy and particle readings, which really doesn't tell us a lot. [ He shows her those files too, though he's sure she could've accessed them without him doing that. ] There are spikes when new people arrive, and when objects are pulled in from other worlds too. Otherwise it seems to fluctuate within normal parameters. Well, whatever's considered 'normal' for the Ingress.

[ Gathering information and learning is her thing, and she's far from timid about asking, particularly when outright offered a chance to toss out some questions. Honestly, she's only asked for about a fraction of everything that she really wants to know.
As Bruce speaks, Cortana's listening intently. Part of her is going through the files on the computer as he discusses, and another one of her processes is put to use taking a few of her own notes on the subject. It may be a lot of information, but it's far from the most she's ever taken in. In fact, it takes up very little of her data storage space. ]
Interesting. The part that I find the most puzzling is that it seems perfectly capable of bringing in large numbers of people and objects from their homes, from all of these different universes, but it can't do the opposite. [ Even as he's showing her the files, she's going over them herself in the computer system. Giving the AI equivalent of a sigh, Cortana tilts her head to one side and shakes it. ] Frustrating when people make use of technology they don't fully understand, isn't it? I have a hard time believing that one of the captains or some part of the original crew, assuming there was one, had nothing to do with the Ingress ending up this way.
[ She also has a hard time believing that there's only one place in this entire universe that knows how to fix it when they have proof of other planets having their own Ingress portals. ]
