[ Really, does he think she'd be here if it were? She's a bit stoic, perhaps, not showing the pain in her expression or with moans and groans, but it's rather severe.
She takes a seat and watches him as she explains. ]
I went through some injuries and an infection last month, so I'm supposed to be cautious about new symptoms. But I wasn't riding on the ship, I was riding on the planet. I didn't bring the motorcycle on board until I took the transport in.

Hands in his pockets, he listened to her explain the background of her situation and why a headache was worth a trip to the Medbay. That made sense and he drew his hands back out of his pockets in order to access his MID. ]
Alright, name?
[ He'd see if he could access her prior medical records. ]
Do you have any dizziness? Nausea? Sensitivity to light?
no subject
[ She wasn't going to claim to be someone she wasn't, so when the doctors at the time of her first arrival insisted on putting something down, that was the name she gave them. Allison might be her name, but it wasn't her.
In response to his questions she pursed her lips slightly. ]
Yes. Dizziness and sensitivity to light, anyway. Not so much the nausea.

The file helpfully came up and as he read through the first couple of lines, his eyebrows arched. An AI placed into an organic body. That had to be an ... adjustment. ]
It doesn't appear as if you've worked with an organic body for long?
[ He asked to clarify the dates he saw entered on the file, glancing up at her from beneath his lashes, eyes flicking between her face and the screen. ]
Can you give me a quick run down on what infection you suffered?
no subject
Doc never did figure out what the infection was. It just made me weak. And I still had it even after I got killed on one of our missions.
[ She's mostly just glad the doc has kept her AI status under her hat. ]
no subject
The discrepancy is noted but for the moment set aside as he goes into the record to search out any notes on the whole 'killed on ... missions' statement. ]
So death has some weird rules here as well. [ The comment was more to himself than a question aimed at Tex. The next words would be more directly. ]
Infection will do that to an organic body, as the body's defense systems work to battle the intruder. Think of it as having to take up resources to run code against a computer virus while simultaneously maintaining peak performance index.
[ Hey. None of these notes indicated she'd been given 'organic living 101' so he'll just put that out there. ]
If this crew is anything like my previous one this next question is stupid but I'll ask it on the off chance that I'll like the answer. Did you follow your doctor's instructions?
no subject
[ She scoffs a bit as she says it, but she can't fault him for finding that strange. At his next question she nearly shakes her head, but thinks better of it, considering the pain she's in. ]
I mostly preferred convalescing in my room.
[ No need for every random that walked by to get an eyeful of her in a weakened state. She doesn't like being seen as weak, even to the medical staff that's charged with taking care of her. So really, he should be happy she's here at all. ]
no subject
[ Hey, he's making no assumptions here! However perhaps the 'death' conversation should be shelved while they focus on getting her comfortable. ]
Most beings rest more comfortably in their own space. Hospitals or MedBays in this instance are horrible places. [ Perhaps not the best attitude for a doctor to have but it was honest at least. ]
Unfortunately, it only works if you still follow doctor's orders and convalesce back at your quarters.
Did you?

[ And now, moving on. ]
Well what I'm going to recommend is probably not going to be what you want to hear. [ He said simply, reaching for the diagnostic tools in order to just verify what his gut was already telling him. ]
Just out of curiosity, how fast did you get the bike up too?
no subject
[ Speaking of which... ]
The speedometer topped out, I'm not sure.
no subject
What protective gear were you equipped with?
no subject
Quite the question for a diagnosis.
[ Yes, this is not medically relevant to the matter at hand, is it, doctor? And in a strange way it reminds her of Church, once again, in the way he would worry and fuss when she took risks. She huffs slightly and looks straight ahead. ]
A helmet and leather.
no subject
Yeah, he probably could have worded that better. The story of his fucking life to be honest. ]
Let me see if I have this right.
[ He began. ]
You pinned the red line on a bike, while still recovering from a case of death, death, death and infection, without medical clearance and in barely the minimum protective gear required to protect an organic body?
no subject
no subject
Well, it could be attributed to dying three times.
Either way, he stepped back and moved to lean against the table just across the from hers. Sliding his hands into his pockets, he crossed his ankles and watched her. ]
I'm not going to stand here and tell you that I can even imagine how it feels to have AI capabilities but suddenly find yourself trapped within the restrictions of an organic body.
I'm baseline human, for the most part, and I know my own sense of frustration in trying to keep up with other species and other humans with super human abilities but I don't pretend to believe it's the same thing.
[ He paused, letting the words settle before he continued. ]
But I can tell you as a medical professional in treating organics, particularly in the field of traumatic injury, that you cannot continue to push this body to those extremes.
You can allow your body to heal and you can train it, properly to withstand a great deal. But if you force it, you're going to keep breaking it and setting yourself further and further back.
no subject
[ It's a mutter, but it's an admission: he's right. She knows he's right. She knows she's been pushing this body too hard, doing too much and not resting enough. She reaches up and rubs her cheek. ]
What if I told you I need to be assessed—figure out a schedule for workouts and all that, like occupational therapy? I've mostly been...pushing everything as hard as this body can go, and I can tell, what you're saying—it's what's happening. I have a robot I can use when the body is sleeping but if I want to hang on to it, I'm going to need to do more than just let it sleep.
no subject
I'm more than willing to help on both fronts, if you like. We can set up a weekly physical, at least until we're both certain your body has completely healed and then we can discuss a bi-weekly or monthly schedule beyond that. Until you feel comfortable in a balance between your organic and robotic forms.
[ That was not a statement he'd often had to utter. Err, moving on. ]
As for workouts. I maintain a very strict regiment myself. It's military based and intended to push my [ he reached and pinched at his forearm ] squishy self to maximum efficiency. You're welcome to join me, so long as you don't expect conversation.
If you'd rather not follow a routine dependent upon another, I can build a workout regiment based off my own and you can tweak it to your specifications?
no subject
I'm definitely on board with those plans. I've been working out alone but I've been pushing too hard, I think. So you may need to pull me back at first. I can get...ambitious. Then once I have a better handle on what I need to do I can switch to working out alone.
In the meantime, is there anything I can have for this headache?
[ Stoicism can only take one so far. When it makes the physician forget there's a primary issue to deal with, it's time to be more insistent. ]
no subject
[ He offered along with a cheeky raise of his brows, though there was no evidence of a smile on his lips. For a moment he appeared to weigh letting her work through the headache with proper rest, water and self care. As a learning experience.
But after a couple breaths of hang time, he pushed off from the table and walked to a counter. Drawing it open Adrien rummaged within before he had to go to the next drawer over.
Still learning his way around in here. ]
I'll give you an injection of a common triptan. It will help relieve the pain but it's going to make you drowsy and possibly dizzy, do you have someone to help you back to your quarters?
no subject
Not anyone specific. I'm pretty sure my roommate is down on the planet.
[ The idea that she needs help is slightly ridiculous to her—she walked from the med bay to her room by herself when she was literally dying for the second time. It hadn't been the most fun thing she'd ever experienced, but she had done it. ]
I think I can manage alone, but if you don't think I'd be able to make it I could take the syringe with me and inject myself when I get into bed.
[ She doubts he'll go along with that plan—it's not like she has the proper disposal container for sharps in her room, after all. But she might as well bring the idea up. ]
no subject
Couple more drawers had to be checked before he finally found what he was looking for in a cabinet. ]
Given your track record of medical follow up? No. [ Simple and to the point. ]
You should have ten to twenty minutes before the side-effects really take hold. I'll take you at your word that you can get back to your quarters.
[ Checking her file once more on his MID, he drew the appropriate amount of triptan, reset the cap on the needle and collected the nice little alcoholic wipe. ]
If you can, try to make your room dark. Lie down and rest, it's as much to give your muscles a chance to relax which will help with the pain as well. A cold compress at the back of your neck can also give some relief.
Sleeping is good but try not to let yourself sleep more than six to eight hours.
[ He motioned for her to roll up a sleeve, not particularly touchy feely until the last possible moment. ]
You may also experience mild nausea and some muscle weakness; I mention this given your recent medical history, so you don't have to worry. However, if you begin to vomit or experience severe reactions, contact me immediately. Understood?
no subject
She listens to his various pieces of advice, then sighs as he injects her. ]
Yes, I understand.
[ With that, she slides her rear off the table and stands. ]
I'll be available to work out in the morning, then.
no subject
Fly, be free.
[ He announced.
At her last comment, Adrien nodded and didn't even challenge her assertion. If she said she'd be available, then they'd work from that assumption until proven otherwise. ]
I'll be down at the TSR at 06:15.
no subject
[ The timing was good—it gave her just enough time to get the amount of sleep her had recommended and then shower beforehand.
With that established, Tex wastes no time in making her way off. She doesn't want to end up drunkenly meandering hallways under the influence of drugs because she made her way too slowly. ]
