[She smiles and holds out her hand.] I'm part of the Moira, yes, but I've been around quite a bit longer. Elizabeth DeWitt, First Mate and Head Librarian.

[That came off with all the disbelief he was feeling right now. Not that he didn't think a woman could be in a rank of power, it was the fact that she didn't look military at all. She just said she was the Head Librarian after all, not really a combat position. It just confirmed everything he thought; these captains weren't as military as they appeared.
Still, she seemed alright so far. And he was trying to behave. He takes her hand after a moment.] Levi.

[She continues to hold her hand out. No hard feelings, obviously, she's still smiling. Though there may be a sharper edge to it now...] I am the first mate.
[She shakes his hand.] Nice to meet you, Levi. Are you hungry? I was thinking of getting a sandwich at that cafe over there. [She points straight back from the ocean to a place with striped awnings.] I assume you at least want to wash out the sensation of putting your mouth on a deer lick.

He hears that bite to her words, but he isn't phased. Yeah, that might not have been the best thing to say but he isn't one to beat around the bush. When she offers him food his eyebrows raises. He just pretty much insulted her and she wants him to hang around still? Weird.]
It crossed my mind. You sure you want me there?

[She jerks her head and starts walking.]

How long have you been on the Moira?
no subject
About eight months. Seems like it's flown by though, what with all of the planets we land on.
no subject
[Damn. That was longer than he expected. He wasn't sure just how long he could risk being here without causing harm back home. They were in the middle of war after all. Now, he is going to ask something he is almost afraid to know.]
Has anyone from your world come here?
no subject
No, and that's probably for the best. I don't know that anybody would want anyone I'd be familiar with here. [They have enough problems keeping the crew from killing each other-- she can't imagine what would happen if Comstock or Atlas made an appearance.]
no subject
He looks down at the ground as he walks behind her. He's quiet until he thinks about what she said again.]
So people from my world might not ever come here? Who decides that?

[Then again he can't really talk. The whole legion has been trying to get to a damn basement for what seems like forever, and they haven't made progress at all. His eyes fall on her again as they walk.

The destination for the Moira is where Ingress technology was first developed. We're hoping they'll fix it for us, safely, and we can return everyone who wants to go home back to where they came from.
no subject
If it's so dangerous and unstable they should have left it on their home world, or at least close to it.
[Or maybe that was just his way of thinking. It made sense though. He knew if the military back home had something like that they would have kept it locked up in Wall Sina, not floating around somewhere in Maria.]

[Elizabeth opens the door to the cafe for Levi.] We don't know very much about the original crew, aside from the fact that one of them became a creature that enjoyed hunting people down and sapping the energy from them-- Party of two, and can we sit outside, please?
no subject
Damn. This sounds just like back home. He shakes his head in disappointment. He had just exchanged a basement for a planet. That wasn't much of an upgrade.]
Sounds like back home.
[He follows after her as the hostess leads them outside to a table for two.]
no subject
What did you get up to back home? Your clothes look a little like a uniform.
no subject
Military. I was a captain back home.
[Not that it matters much here now.]
no subject
Really? You must be a prodigy, you look young to me.
no subject
I'm older than I look.
[Not gonna comment on that prodigy thing. Even if others in the Legion would gladly sing his praise, he wasn't into tooting his own horn.]
no subject
Is that so? How old?
[If there's one thing Elizabeth enjoys, it's proving a point.]
no subject
34.
no subject
[Elizabeth looks up from her menu at him, her eyebrows raised. She hadn't expected there to be quite that much distance between them, and the length of her pause probably indicates as much.]
...still, being a captain at 34 is impressive, right?
no subject
[So....even more impressive? Either way, he isn't one to really brag. He just states it for her information.]
It's not all it's cracked up to be. Just means you have more people to worry about.
no subject
Personally I took the job thinking I would do everything I could to make the crew's lives better. We're all here, we don't know who to blame for it, but we might as well do something with the time. It's why I worked so hard at building the library's collection, too.
