I've just never flown anything without a motor before. Much less steering. So I hope you know what you're doing. [Which answers her first question. Neither yes nor no, just please.]

[She teases, doing a good job of looking rather unimpressed at his hoping she knows what she's doing. ]
I always manage to figure things out in the end, but knowing what I'm doing here? I wouldn't go so far as to think that.
[And then, with a reckless grin intact, the man getting them in place does whatever it is hang glide operators do and sends them off a cliff. To which Clara lets out a shout of delight, because wow they're plummeting downward quickly.]

[And then, almost before he realizes it's happening, they're plummeting off a cliff. Luke whoops with excitement-- it's going fast, that's all that matters-- and maybe a little surprise. His heart's in his throat by the time they balance in the air.] Wow! I didn't know they did that.
no subject
[Honestly. Men and their need to look like they can do anything.
As they balance out, she fiddles with the various push levers that are attached to the handlebar, and watches with great amusement as one squeeze causes them to drop rapidly, and releasing it allows them to gently coast, nicely balanced.]
The important thing is, the view is fantastic.
[Really, it's breathtaking. The most beautiful thing Clara's seen in at least a week.]
no subject
[He pokes at a lever.] What's this do? [Since she obviously paid attention to this thing's inner workings. He looks over, as though waiting for permission before pulling it.]
no subject
[So she gently slaps his hand away so she can be the one that pushes on the lever. It doesn't seem to do anything, so she just angrily pushes it in another three or four times.]
What's the use in having a lever that does nothing?
no subject
[Dropping out of the sky with a complete stranger sounds like an embarrassing way to die.]
no subject
[She laughs as she says it, and gives it one more push just for good measure. This time, the glider tips forward and dives downward, causing Clara's eyes to widen in surprise. They're out over the ocean now, and the thought of hitting it from this high up doesn't sound very pleasant at all.
Once they level out, she glances over at him with a sheepish grin.]
What sort of things are you used to flying? You never said what you were a pilot of when you mentioned it earlier.
no subject
[We'll see how long that lasts.]
Oh, starfighters, mostly. Speeders, too, I guess. Nothing like this.
no subject
[She asks it with curiosity, but doesn't look away from the scenery to ask him. She always enjoys meeting people from other worlds, but doesn't want to divert her attention too far away from the reason she's doing this in the first place.
And then, before he has time to answer -]
There's got to be a way to make this go upward. You're a pilot, you should know what to do!
no subject
This thing doesn't have propulsion, so we'd need to get momentum to move it upward. Dive and then soar. [He raises one hand up to make the motion in the air, his hand dipping down before curving up, making a rough 'U' shape.]
no subject
[Or find another cliff, but it doesn't exactly seem easy to land, carry themselves and this thing up another cliff, and then leap off again. So she looks over at him, realizing something.]
How are are supposed to get this back to its owner? We need to find a diving point.

[She bossily informs him, laughing at the idea of actually doing something like that. She's become a daredevil and loves the thrill of getting to do something exciting, so she looks over at him, giving his hand a pat.]
Go on, make us dip low. Dangerous or not, we should try!
no subject
We can do it there. On the count of three, ready...?
no subject
Three!
[Laughing in delight, she pushes her hand down over his that's over the lever needed to act out his plan of action. They're out in the open enough that she thinks it will be smooth sailing, even if it currently feels like her heart is leaping up into her throat.]
no subject
[Luke's always had fantastic luck.]
[They soar upward, rising swiftly past their previous altitude. Luke keeps it going as far up as he can. His excitement gets the better of him, and he gives out a whoop of joy.] We'll only descend from here, so we should make the most of this.
no subject
Not bad, for someone who wasn't sure if this would work.

[There's a pause, and she allows him to do the flying. He's doing such a good job, it would be a shame to take the duty away from him.]
You're too worried. We'll make it back in time.
[Before this post reaches recaptcha, she means.]
