It's late in the night when she wanders away from the party, maybe back to the transports, maybe to a hotel, but just...away. And that's when she notices the familiar figure looking out over the water. It's dark, but she sees well in it; she doesn't need the flickering firelight to see that he looks...tired somehow - not in a way that you can explain away with the late hour.
It only occurs to her when she's within greeting distance and opening her mouth that he might not even remember her - Tony left (and inconsiderately left her with all the engineering shifts), after all.] You know, when I first saw the fire, I thought there'd been some kind of horrible accident. Now I've stopped worrying that something's going to blow up, it's actually kind of nice.
[She could ask him what's wrong, or get straight into the 'did you leave, do you remember anything' conversation - but maybe not right away. Maybe she has tact sometimes. Maybe she could come up with better small talk than 'nothing blew up - successful night out!'.]
((OOC: OK IT'S TIME TO BE SUPER AWKWARD yay everyone loves awkward - Tali wears a perma-gas mask in canon, but not always here in game, so I use a human PB...but then awkwardly throw this description at everybody.))
Tali gets the dubious honor of being the first not-totally-terrifying alien he's met
Get a grip.
He pushes the momentary shocked pause aside, because a lady is a lady, and let's not be rude. ]
Funny you should say that. [ There's no recognition in his expression, which probably answers her question. ] I was just thinking how weird it is to attend a part where something doesn't explode.
The highest of honours <3
She grins wryly.] I'm fine on explosions, but the two other times I've been to beaches ended in being shot at by AI platforms...then a giant monster rose out of the water at the other one and tried to kill everybody.
I'm still trying to work out if I'm cursed or if I just have really weird taste in vacation spots.
[Well, technically she was working both times, but a little thing like accuracy isn't going to get into the way of banter.]

Whoa.
[ He holds up both hands and takes a joking step backwards. ]
Should I not be standing so close? Maybe I should go find another beach to luau on.

As for the robots... [She probably wouldn't have been able to joke about the robots not so long ago, but here they are.] ...they're probably back on board the Moira.
no subject
Yeah, I met a couple of those. Did you know they get real uppity if you call them robots? It's offensive, apparently. The more you know.
[ Of course, that was just the one, and apparently a member of the crew, besides. He hasn't even begun getting acquainted with whatever's native to the Moira, but he assumes there's something. ]
Unless you're talking about other robots, of which I'm starting to suspect there are many.

[Apparently, not being space racist is just that difficult. 'Cybertronian' is hard to say, damn it.] There are a few... [She gestures vaguely. It's easy enough to refer to all the organic life under one umbrella, but...] Non-organic crew members. The...Cybertronians [Sure did butcher that word.] and a few more. Just don't threaten them and they won't shoot you.
[... Not when the one she's specifically thinking of prefers to use a bladed disc.]

[ UH. ]
... Do they normally go around shooting people?

[OK, she wasn't going to open conversation with a PSA about Rinzler, but it's her fault for opening her mouth anyway.] One of the other synthetics - he's about our height. He's some kind of synthetic and he's programmed to destroy threats. He's fine...normally. But if something - somebody - threatens him, his directives kick in. [Her face twists.] That makes it sound like a light switching on.
