To her credit, Charlie just twitches upward a bit, almost a jump of surprise but not quite, when she realizes there's someone else there. When she looks at the freaking talking skeleton, she just blinks rapidly for a second.
Yeah, that's a short, talking skeleton eating ice cream, all right. At least he doesn't seem dangerous or anything, and - she could be projecting, but it seems like he's as surprised by the ocean as she is. So instead of flipping her lid, she just nods at the question.]
I've never actually been to an ocean, no. There are pictures and videos of it, but it really isn't the same, is it?
no subject
Heh, nah, not the same at all. [He replies, his voice coming from a place of deep understanding. They had movies in the Underground, lush pictures of the ocean. Sans remembered reading in a few of his books on space, how the moon pushes and pulls at the water, causing it to sway. Another fascinating part of a world he had no direct part in.
Even now, this wasn't that ocean, but its certainly the most convincing facsimile he's ever seen.]
You on vacation too? The ship I'm on just docked, I'm still trying to figure out what there is to do 'round here.

That question makes her nod slowly, brow furrowed as she thinks it over.] Yeah, I guess I am. Just got on board the ship- say, the ship you're on wouldn't happen to be the Moira, would it?
[She doubts there are as many coincidences in the world as folks like to think, these days.]

Guess we're gonna see a lot of each other. [He extended his hand, primed and ready to greet a New Pal.] Name's Sans. Been on the Moira for about five months now, give or take.
no subject
Nice to meet you, Sans, I'm Charlie.
[Handshake? Handshake. Sure, why not? Clearly Sans has no pranks intended and is just doing the handshake thing because it is A Greeting Custom. Clearly!]
no subject
Heh. [Concealed against his palm, a little joy buzzer lays in wait. And sure enough, once their hands join, the small electric current jolts her palm. Sans grins so wide it looks like his skull might split.] Nice to meet you too, Charlie.

that had nothing to do with the mun having to walk a finicky little dog.Charlie tries her hardest not to laugh, but the little muffled 'pfft's escape, and finally she just doubles over laughing like this is the funniest thing she's ever seen.
Or like it makes no sense and there's no other reaction except to laugh. Either or.]

Good, you've got a sense of humor. That'll serve you well around here.

[She manages to calm down from the surprise-induced giggle fit, though she's still trying to fight the grin. That really was not what she'd been expecting, and couldn't she have said it better than just plain ol' "silly"? Oh well.]
... Okay, if you say so! You've been here longer than me, after all - uh, right?
no subject
[Which, in Sans' experience, usually meant one thing: the place she used to be wasn't all that pleasant.]
Guess it's hard to complain about free money and endless beaches though, right?
