Something like that.
[He doesn't sound amused. His fingers touch something slimy and slightly sticky, and he pulls his fingers back instinctively. Luckily for him the creature is perfectly harmless, but still. He ends up twisting his shirt around to get a good look at it. ...That's a lot of tentacles.]
Think it's dangerous?
[He's sort of half asking William, and half thinking out loud.]
no subject
Honestly, I just assume everything is dangerous.
[But he moves a little closer to get a look at the thing, shushing Dogmeat so he calms down a little, which he does.]
I can't remember if squid or octopuses are even supposed to be dangerous.
no subject
Hey. You've got a pip-boy?
[That's not something he expected to see. He might have noticed it a little earlier if not for everything else going on, but now he's more fixed on that than the little alien octopus stuck to his shirt.]
no subject
He holds up his arm in response.] Wait, you know what this is?
[He read the message that was so helpfully crafted for "new arrivals" and listened to all the explanations, which very clearly explained the whole 'in another universe/world type thing' And yet he was still confused, which is why something as simple as someone recognizing his Pipboy is a bit of a relief.]
no subject
[It's almost a relief for Boone, too. Anything familiar to him is totally welcome right now.]
You came in with that?
no subject
[He nods towards the unfamiliar dog.]
Yours followed you through too, huh?
no subject
Guess I got lucky, huh.
[He at least came in fully clothed. He looks down at Rex, smiling ever so slightly for just a moment before he looks back up at William.]
Not exactly. He got here after me.
[He's glad he's here, though. He pats the cyberdog on the neck.]
no subject
[But ooh he caught that little smile. Not that he can blame him. Dogs are great when you're wandering a wasteland filled with terrible mutants all alone.]
He's uh...I've never seen one quite like him before.
[He's still comparatively new to this whole post apocalyptia lifestyle what with living most of his life in the cushy Old World. Cyborg dog is definitely a new one.]
What happened to him?
no subject
[You know, normal dog stuff.]
Where were you before you got here?
[He's curious to know where this guy came from. Finding someone who came from a similar background is better than nothing.]
no subject
The question grabs his attention again, though. Mostly because he was curious as well, especially about the beret.]
Far Harbor. It's off the coast of Maine.
no subject
Don't know it. Sorry.
[It's not too surprising, though. There's a lot of places he hasn't been.]
You know where the Mojave is? I was there before I got here.
no subject
[Understatement of the century.]
I'm what you'd call "pre-war", I guess.
[He's pretty casual about it, mostly because people tend to not believe him anyway.]
no subject
[He squints at William, that frown only deepening somewhat. Mostly he just looks confused, though.]
You're saying you're over two hundred years old?
[Damn, what moisturiser are you using?]no subject
[Personally he feels it shouldn't count if you were frozen, but whatever.]
no subject
[He says it flatly, not sure how you can only technically be over two hundred years old.]
Well, you're obviously not a ghoul. So how'd you get to be so old?
[Sorry William, two hundred years is two hundred years. You're an old man.]
no subject
How rude.
[Getting old is not something he was supposed to worry about for a while, okay?]
It's a long story. Basically, I was frozen for over two hundred years in a vault. Hence the technically.
[Technically]
no subject
[He thinks on it for a moment, then sort of shrugs.]
Okay. Seen enough vaults of my own to figure you're telling the truth.
[The Mojave had plenty of its own messed up vault experiments.]
Sounds like one hell of a story, though. You got frozen before the war?
no subject
Anyway, it only took about 20 minutes for it to come in handy. Up until they froze us. Then it became inconvenient.
no subject
You think he knew what was gonna happen?
[Because that's quite some timing, there.]
no subject
In hindsight that is kind of weird. I don't think he did, though. He hasn't really mentioned Vault-Tech much or anything.
Besides, if he did know, he kind of paid for it tenfold.
no subject
[If not, then Boone would guess he's probably not exactly human anymore. Ghoul or super mutant, either option sucks.]
no subject
A while after I woke up we ran into each other in a town called Goodneighbor. I didn't recognize him for obvious reasons. He's not a bad guy, honestly. Just...reeeeally bitter - not that I blame him.
no subject
[Having two hundred years to stew over something? Not Boone's idea of a good time. He's also noticed that William hasn't really... mentioned his family. At least, not in a way that suggests they unfroze with him. Still, it's not really his place to ask.]
Must've been tough. Not sure what things were like before the war, but... I bet it was probably pretty different.
no subject
What's the Mojave like now?
