"I want the world to be fragile. There is no place to hide a dark heart."
☄ Step 1: Negotiate & Infiltrate With this part of the plan enacted, a small number of those who have volunteered to attempt negotiations have been heard by the Caducans and have been temporarily “invited” to board their vessel. However, due to this highly stressful situation, a portion of the offensive team have been asked to accompany them in order to disable as much of the opposing ship and its crew to force them to evacuate onto the Moira. Regardless of time and what reparations are offered, negotiations ultimately fail. The Caducans want the debt of their planet to be paid by the people of the Moira with their very lives. While boarded with the Caducans, they will attempt to incapacitate the negotiation party through violent means, and it will be the responsibility of this particular team to attempt disengage the Caducans’ ship to prevent it from attacking the Moira. However, despite all efforts to sabotage their systems, the ship itself shuts its primary units into Lockdown Mode. Meanwhile, back on the Moira, the crew must work to secure the ship against the incoming assault by the Caducans after having left their ship via emergency escape units. This means that some of the defense team will have disabled the gunnery to make it look as if the Moira is defenseless and secure the rest of the area with those on the offense team. There is no place for mercy; the Caducans will board the ship through the Cargo Bay. They are not interested in granting it to the crew after all the losses they suffered at Caducus Primary. The only choice will be to fight for their lives (kill or be killed) or find a way to lure the Caducans into the Ingress room to send them to some unknown place where they will no longer be a threat. The Captains have given all members of the crew leave to use whatever means necessary to protect both themselves and the ship’s systems from the invaders. Failure is not an option. |
han solo
[The Negotiation team heads off to try their luck reasoning with the Caducans, and Han... doesn't go with them, of course. His idea of negotiating usually involves a blaster under the table, and apparently that's not how they want to do things. It's ridiculous, he thinks. Han only knows the barest outline of what happened on C-prime, but he can't imagine the vengeance-seeking survivors will be easily placated. Trying isn't a bad idea-- it's a show of faith, it'd be the best way to fix everything, if it worked-- but he's thankful that everyone's been working on backup plans, too.
After they head out, Han heads off to do his own part. He'll check in with any defense teams he passes, but his destination is the Millennium Falcon, which he plans to take out so if-- when-- things fall apart, he's mobile and armed and ready to show no mercy.]
2. during
[And things do, of course, fall apart.
His first priority is going to be getting Leia off the Caducan ship, and if anyone else there needs a ride he's willing to take on passengers-- the Falcon isn't a big ship but it's got enough space for a rescue mission.
On the other hand, he's planning to join the fray after they leave, so board at your own risk-- not all those seats have belts.
When they get back to the Moira, once there are no more light craft on the radar, he ushers everyone out of the freighter-- if there are Caducans still aboard, the rest of the defense team will need all the help it can get.]
3. after
[Suddenly everything goes white, and he can't breathe for a minute, and when the world rights itself--
At first glance he can't figure out what's going on-- but the second he moves, the leg of his pants cracks and shatters below the knee, scattering shards of glass over the suddenly-slippery, crystalline floor. Aside from a handful of scrapes and cuts on his calf, Han is fine... as far as he can tell. The same can't be said for the Moira, though. For a long moment he just surveys the peculiarly transformed surroundings, trying to decide what the hell he should do, before he takes off toward the cargo bay.
He's got a bad-- well, you know how it goes.]
4. ???
[whatever works for you if the above doesn't! <3]
2.
Hey, you have a gunner's seat somewhere?
no subject
[Distracted by flying it takes him a minute to register that someone's talking to him. Han glances over his shoulder, waves one hand vaguely.]
Yeah, down the corridor-- on the other side where they cross, there's a ladder...
[The ship lists to one side as he turns hard. Sorry, Tex.]
Hope you're a good shot.
no subject
[ She calls the words back even as she pitches into the wall, trying to walk in the direction he'd indicated, and she curses and slams her hand against it before she rights herself and finds the ladder. She's not familiar with the design of the controls, but it's easy enough to work out what does what and once she's settled in the seat she takes the controls. In any case, it's nice to be seated and not listing all over the place as the ship moves.
Soon enough something emerges from the Caducean ship in pursuit of them and she fires at it. She keeps her shots sparse, not knowing what kind of ammo this ship has or how much of it is left. It does the job and the craft that had been chasing them retreats. ]
no subject
Not bad!
[he crows over the ship's intercom. This is Han in his element-- close quarters fighting he can handle, but he's a pilot, not a soldier.]
Come on-- we're going after 'em.
no subject
I'm ready when you are.
[ Thing is it's really just them against the fighters the Caducan ship sends. The other transports that came from the Moira are ferrying people over from the negotiation team. Tex does some strategic firing and gets them to back off but each time it seems she incapacitated a fighter, another takes its place. And the Caducans appear to be ferrying its citizens over to the Moira, as well. ]
no subject
The Falcon is big, compared to most of the craft coming after it, but it's every bit as agile. He wheels sharply, going on the offensive, trying to get between the attacking craft and the Moira's shuttles.]
no subject
Goddamn it! [ She slams the heel of her hand down. ] We need to get on the ship!
no subject
[He's not kidding about that. They definitely need to get back to the Moira-- it'll mean fighting hand to hand, probably, but there aren't so many craft left out here. The bulk of their forces have already landed, he imagines.
Twisting sharply to evade hunks of wreckage, crippled ships, he pushes the sublight engines to their limits, not slowing until they're practically on the Moira.]

2
Kylo!
[She shouts out his name, gritting her teeth as she continues to hurry along.]
You have exactly three seconds to get the hell over here now! Or else!
[And the second the order is barked out like an angry little dog, she runs right into someone and ends up jumping back in case they mean her harm. It's a little hard to see what's what, with all the blood.]
no subject
Nah, just kidding.
He jumps back like a startled pittin, blaster wavering, though luckily (for both of them) he's definitely disciplined enough not to shoot without knowing what his target is.]
Hey-- are you--
[okay? Obviously she's not okay. Also--]
What did you say?
no subject
[She rushes out her response, switching hands to press against her face. The smell of blood makes her wrinkle of her nose, and be much more clipped and curt than she normally might be.]
Kylo Ren. He came here with me, and we've been separated.
[She drops her hand away from her face, so she can wipe both of them against a nearby wall to try and get the blood off as best as she can.]
I need to make sure he's alright.
no subject
That he's--
[He can't even comprehend that for a lot of reasons. Number One being that he's seen his son pull his punches-- and been thrown across the room in the process. Number Two is that he's not used to the idea of Kylo Ren cooperating enough to go anywhere with anyone. Number Three, she's worried about him being all right, not worrying about what he might have done?
This bears further investigation, sometime when bloodthirsty aliens are not attempting to slaughter the lot of them.]
Have you seen--
[That gets cut off when one of the Caducans rounds the corner and rushes them. Without missing a beat, Han fires over her shoulder. Upside of being tall.]
no subject
You haven't answered me yet.
[But they can't stay here though, so she gives him a nudge to signal that he really should start moving forward so she can follow along after him. They can't just stand around and talk. Moving and talking is a better choice.]
Have you seen him or not?
no subject
[That makes sense in his head, and he's not paying enough attention to think that it's not at all obvious to her that he's looking for the same person.
He doesn't bother holstering his blaster, not when there's still so much chaos, the sound of fighting echoing through the corridors.]
Which way?
no subject
[She says it so bluntly and so filled with annoyance that she almost feels bad, but the pain in her face takes away from any guilt she has at snapping.]
I'll let you pick the way, if you don't mind. Lead, and I'll follow.
[Typically, she wouldn't dare follow someone she doesn't even know, but this is one of those desperate times sort of situations.]
I can't stay with you too long anyway, I've got to go find my friend.
no subject
[Look, just... if he sounds a little incredulous, it's because he's a little incredulous. It's probably the first time he's heard of anyone having such positive interactions with the man.]
This way looks good.
[He shrugs. Good is a relative term: on an enemy ship, every way looks pretty bad, actually.]

after the after
But at least she can still ogle the man undressing at the other side of the bed. It's something terribly nice, the fact that they can curl up together in a space of their own and forget the ship beyond them.
Nice, that is, until he pulls off his shirt, and she catches sight of his back.]
Han!
[His name, at least, is still easy to say: breathe out the H and cut off the sound for the N, and it's basically there. Through her barely-open lips, the sound is muffled and dull to her ears, but there's a note of worry cutting it.]
no subject
By now, though, they're only half-hearted protests, because it's pretty clear there's nothing they can actually do to help her.
So here they are, ready to curl up together and try to forget the ship beyond them for a little while... Except--
Well, he has no idea, except that she's upset.]
What?
no subject
So, silent, she considers whether she can easily crawl over to him. No--the stiffness of her body makes everything awkward at best, painful or unpleasant at worst. She stands, moving with all the speed she can manage, and hurries over to him.
Tentatively, she sets her hand on his back, directly between his shoulder blades. Hers doesn't hurt to touch--it's simply difficult to speak through--but she doesn't want to assume the same of Han.]
Glass. [A clicked G, a thick S, but otherwise reasonably simple to say. Her fingers press gently against what should be flesh.]
no subject
Careful, because he doesn't know where the limits of his body are suddenly-- which is ridiculous, he's been getting along just fine, it's fine-- he stretches an arm up over his shoulder to feel it, the unaccustomed smoothness over his spine where skin gives way to something else.
Loosing a slow, quiet breath, he tries and fails to crane his neck enough to see the edge, coming face to face with Leia instead, her expression almost doll-like in its current state.]
How bad is it?
no subject
Spine, she wants to say, but it would be garbled and ugly in her mouth. Or not bad, but that's not going to sound much better.]
All right.
[She leans in, resting her forehead against the stripe of glass for a moment. It's the closest she can come to the kiss she wants to give him. Her hand settles at the small of his back.]
no subject
He rolls his shoulders experimentally, trying to test the limits of his altered flesh. It doesn't hurt. It feels stiff, more than anything; something he'd have written off as exhaustion, the aftermath of battle and exertion.]
You sure you wouldn't be better in sick bay!
[Look, he's entitled to a little bit of fretting.]
no subject
Her brows have to speak for her, and the angle of her eyes as she glowers up at him. She can't shake her head or snap back, so she just waits, daring him to keep going.]
no subject
Look, I'm just asking.
[He shrugs, another slightly tentative motion, though since nothing terrible has happened yet he's got to assume his back will hold up to regular use.]
I just-- what if we... crack?
[It's a terrible thought for either of them, but there's so much more on her, the damage would be so much worse.]
