"I want the world to be fragile. There is no place to hide a dark heart."
☄ Step 1: Negotiate & Infiltrate With this part of the plan enacted, a small number of those who have volunteered to attempt negotiations have been heard by the Caducans and have been temporarily “invited” to board their vessel. However, due to this highly stressful situation, a portion of the offensive team have been asked to accompany them in order to disable as much of the opposing ship and its crew to force them to evacuate onto the Moira. Regardless of time and what reparations are offered, negotiations ultimately fail. The Caducans want the debt of their planet to be paid by the people of the Moira with their very lives. While boarded with the Caducans, they will attempt to incapacitate the negotiation party through violent means, and it will be the responsibility of this particular team to attempt disengage the Caducans’ ship to prevent it from attacking the Moira. However, despite all efforts to sabotage their systems, the ship itself shuts its primary units into Lockdown Mode. Meanwhile, back on the Moira, the crew must work to secure the ship against the incoming assault by the Caducans after having left their ship via emergency escape units. This means that some of the defense team will have disabled the gunnery to make it look as if the Moira is defenseless and secure the rest of the area with those on the offense team. There is no place for mercy; the Caducans will board the ship through the Cargo Bay. They are not interested in granting it to the crew after all the losses they suffered at Caducus Primary. The only choice will be to fight for their lives (kill or be killed) or find a way to lure the Caducans into the Ingress room to send them to some unknown place where they will no longer be a threat. The Captains have given all members of the crew leave to use whatever means necessary to protect both themselves and the ship’s systems from the invaders. Failure is not an option. |
Elsa | ota
[ While she'd been hoping desperately that the negotiations would be successful, part of Elsa isn't surprised when she finds herself in the thick of a small war. No matter where she goes on the ship, it seems as though there are always some Caducans there, lying in wait. The fact that this is a fight they can't talk their way out of has been clear from the moment she first heard the sounds of battle, and she's shown little hesitation when it comes to aiding in the Moira crew's side of it.
She hasn't run from battle. She hasn't tried convincing anyone not to fight. If negotiations didn't work, there's no point. She does, however, show reluctance in taking lethal measures. A great many of her opponents simply end up frozen in place, unable to move and thus unable to do any harm. Killing isn't something she wants to do, and perhaps it's naive, but she opts to not think about what will become of the Caducans she traps because if she doesn't kill them or get them to the Ingress, it's likely someone else will end up doing that once this whole thing has ended.
Elsa can be found anywhere throughout the Moira where fighting is going on. If allies are nearby, she takes great care to not accidentally harm them with her magic and tries her best to keep distance between herself and other Moirans. Most of her combat involves her freezing Caducans' feet to the floor, either as an initial defence for herself, or to aid a crewmember in getting an easier target, though it can also involve her sending a burst of ice forward to knock weapons away from enemies and temporarily disable their hands or even simply trapping someone whole in ice, to be left that way until the end of the battle.
Should a fellow crewmember be nearby and in danger, she will show no hesitation in forcing an opponent back with a strong burst of magic or in raising a wall of ice between an ally and a projectile heading directly for them. Protecting other Moira crew is higher on Elsa's priority list than actually fighting is and thus she will absolutely be on the defensive around anyone, particularly children and those who may be ill-equipped to fight. ]
b. the aftermath ( a random, empty hallway )
[ Things are quiet now. Almost eerily quiet, after the raging noise of the fight that feels as though it's barely ended. After the ships have merged, while many are discovering parts of their bodies being turned to glass, Elsa finally takes the opportunity to break away from everyone and find herself somewhere secluded. Somewhere that it's safe for her to remove the heavy but quickly weakening weight she's been using to keep her emotions suppressed while things were too hectic to allow them to surface too strongly.
Or, somewhere that's safer to do so. With the ship so oddly foreign now, new rooms in some places, old ones suddenly missing, she has a difficult time navigating and the longer it takes for her to find somewhere quiet, the harder it becomes to contain her emotions. Eventually, she has to settle for the first place she can finds that's devoid of living beings to finally let go. Let things bubble over.
So many dead. So many Caducan bodies all over the ship and so many Moiran bodies joining them. She's too terrified to try finding those she's familiar or even friends with, too afraid of who she may find dead. Trembling in the empty hallway she's found, Elsa presses a hand to the wall in order to support herself because it feels as though her legs might give out at any moment. Instantly, a layer of ice appears beneath and spreads out along the wall, radiating from the place she's touched. By the time her eyes are shut and her other hand is over her mouth as she attempts to cover the sounds of her shaking breath, a thick, frosted ice has engulfed much of the floor along the hall, as well as lower sections of the walls. The air is cold, sharply so, and the frosted ice, jagged and almost needlelike in some areas, continues to slowly spread further down the hall and up the walls.
For the moment, Elsa has little control of her magic and is in clear distress, though it may look unsafe to approach her to some. ]
b. if this is okay!
The chill becomes more noticeable as he steps further, uncomfortable even by his standards. Finally, he spots the source, the woman with her hand pressed to the wall. Pausing, he starts to turn... emotions are not his strong point, and if she needs to have her breakdown in peace, he'll leave her to it. But the power radiating out from her can't be ignored, and now... damn, his feet seem to be frozen in place. No chance of a quiet retreat.]
I think you're taking "losing your cool" to the extreme, hm?
absolutely okay!
Nothing registers right away. She stares at him but doesn't really see his face. His words hold no meaning that she can discern. Even the fact that she's still in the process of freezing the entire hallway escapes her notice. This only lasts momentarily, of course, until reality hits like a freight train. The words sink in, the meaning behind them making her look around only to see all of the damage she's caused. Is still causing. ]
Oh no--
[ This is Not Good. And her beginning to fret over what she's unintentionally doing is not helping the situation at all, rather only making it worse. Fear is evident in her expression as she shakes her head, watching the ice continue to creep up the wall helplessly. The only way to stop it is to calm down, but she isn't sure how to even start going about getting herself anywhere near calm. ]
I didn't mean t-- I didn't even realize...!
no subject
And that's assuming his cold gun will even work against someone with ice powers...]
How about you just chill out for a minute and get ahold of yourself. You haven't done anything terrible.
[He's not hurt, but the ice is still creeping over his boots and that's... irritating.]
no subject
If telling her to chill is meant as a pun, she takes no notice of it, rather just purses her lips and tries to draw a long breath. Calm down. That's all she needs to do. ...But it's so much easier said than done. The breath shakes on its exhale and Elsa shakes her head again. ]
Maybe not yet. But I-- [ Her hands clasp, gripping tightly at one another. ] I could... And I don't know how to thaw--
[ That's when she glances downward and realizes that his feet are trapped and the ice isn't stopping there, either. There's a gasp, and any small amount of calm the deep breath may have brought her is effectively obliterated. ]
Your feet--!
[ She starts to move toward him but stops a half-second later, backing up again, remembering that she can't help and would probably only make things worse trying. ]
I'm sorry, I didn't-- You shouldn't have come over here, it's... It's not safe.
no subject
So you've got these powers, you can't control them, right? What's your plan? Gonna just freeze the whole ship up?
replies a whole month late, i am so sorry. feel free to drop this!
[ That's what she's afraid of, freezing the whole ship. Who knows the kinds of complications that could cause. ]
I didn't mean for this to happen! But I... I don't know how to stop it.
[ Not entirely true. It's more that she doesn't know how to calm down so that it will stop. Elsa makes an attempt at drawing in a breath to start the process, but her panic is still full-fledged. ]
I'm so sorry.
B
You are freezing the hallway.
[He states it calmly, stepping through the ice calmly.]
no subject
No no no!
[ Fear is heavy in her voice and the added increase of emotion only has the ice continuing to spread down the hall and up toward the ceiling. Watching it, Elsa backs into the wall before looking back to Genos, shaking her head as she realizes that he's approaching. No, the last thing she needs to add to this is her accidentally harming someone, too. ]
No-- Don-- Don't come any closer. I can't control it and I don't want to accidentally hurt you!
no subject
[He's still stepping forward, feet cracking through the ice and crunching through the snow. He frowns at her, perhaps not as sympathetic as he should be, but sternly addressing the situation anyway.]
That's dangerous - get a hold of yourself, then.
no subject
Dangerous.
It's funny. Just a couple months ago, she'd had a conversation with Sans where he'd told her that she isn't dangerous, despite all the things she's been told and believed since the accident with Anna when they were young. And she's been doing the best she can to try viewing herself as not dangerous since then, because it felt so nice to not feel that constant weight of burden.
And yet, here she is again. Unable to keep control, the word dangerous coming up again. It hits her harder than she lets show, not that it would be easy to tell through the fear and utter variety of other emotion she's clearly enduring at the moment. ]
I-I can't, I'm--
[ Breathe. Breathe. Hands running through her hair, gripping at her head in a panic, Elsa attempts to inhale and exhale slowly, trying to bring some level of calm back. However, getting a hold of herself is a challenge, her emotions have always been so overwhelming--and the pressure of another person telling her to do so certainly only adds to the difficulty. ]
I'm trying, I'm trying, but I... I don't...know how...
no subject
You can't harm me. See? You can crush this hand and I won't feel it.
[He holds out his hand, which is metal and soft black padding, like a cat paw. If she touches it, it's a little uncomfortably warm, but it shouldn't burn her. The rest of him is slowly steaming as chilled air coils in fog off of the metal.]
no subject
Eyes falling on the outstretched hand, she doesn't move right away. Instead, she simply stares down at it almost as though she doesn't trust that she can't do anything to him, though the way his body is clearly producing so much heat has her relaxing ever so slightly. She's used to seeing other people's breath in the cold she creates, but she's never seen someone's body heat coming off of them like that.
Tentatively, still uncertain, Elsa reaches out with one arm and touches his hand delicately with her fingers. The warmth manages to surprise her, even if she's able to see it, and even though she retracts her hand quickly, she raises her head to meet his gaze, wide-eyed. ]
So you... You're not affected by any of this?
[ She really can't hurt him. Even if she were to accidentally hurtle ice at him, it would no doubt melt before it could do any damage, and he...said he's mostly made of metal too, right? It's a strange thought, there being someone she actually isn't a danger to. ]
no subject
[He keeps his hand out for her, in case she finds it any comfort at all.]
It will be okay, Elsa.
no subject
[ That's it. That's the only effect her powers, out of control as they are, have on him. That's a difficult thing to process, it's not a situation she's ever found herself in or expected to find herself in, but... it's... it's really comforting.
Elsa continues to regard him with wide eyes, uncertainty still clear across her face, but after a few moments, she seems to visibly relax a small bit. It will be okay. A pause, a brisk nod, and she draws in a long breath, then slowly exhales it, trying to draw in some calm. ]
--I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I didn't mean t-- I just...I've never been in a battle before. I've never had to fight for my life and the lives of others, and now with the glass, I...
[ She trails off, lets out a shaking breath, and folds her arms in front of herself, pulling them in close as though hugging herself. ]
I don't know what to do. So many people are hurt, and so many are dead...
no subject
[He'll place his hand on her shoulder somewhat firmly, making sure it wasn't scalding hot. Some frost condenses on the fingers, but his arm is far too warm for the ice to travel up, and it doesn't seem to be able to harm his metal hand.]
The only thing to do is either round up the dead as part of cleanup, or excuse yourself. You aren't expected to be able to handle corpses. I don't believe there were many - if any - casualties on our side.
[Not that he knows of, at least.]
If you want to help, keeping the bodies frozen will keep them from rotting and will make moving them much easier. If not, I can lead you somewhere that is cleaned up. Is any of your body glass at the moment?
no subject
Taking another long breath, trying to regulate her breathing back to something more normal and less erratic, Elsa nods. Not many casualties on their side... That's good to hear, even if he isn't certain about the numbers. That helps. ]
No-- No, I don't think so.
[ She hasn't noticed any glass, at least. ]
I think... somewhere clean might be best. I don't think that I can handle... [ ...Cleaning up corpses. Not right now. Not while she's already in a state of little to no control. ] But I don't want to freeze more of the ship. There are enough problems already, I don't want to add more than I already have.
no subject
[He'll place his hand on her back and gently moving her, guiding her along. His eyes scan ahead to make sure they aren't about to walk right into a former battlefield.]
Deep breaths. One step at a time. I'm here to make sure nothing goes wrong.
no subject
She follows Genos' advice instead, attention going to her breathing instead as she forces herself to take deep, calming breaths. ]
Thank you.
[ The words are quiet, and she doesn't even turn her head to look at him, rather keeps her gaze on the floor. ]
No one's been able to help me like this before.
no subject
no subject
[ That comes as a surprise, enough of one to draw her gaze back in Genos' direction. He's seemed nothing but calm and collected every time she's spoken with him, it's hard to imagine him having a panic attack. ]
Yes-- Yes, I know all of that... It's just that when I have a panic attack, it's... It's dangerous for others.
[ And that makes it harder to calm down, and makes letting it pass by less of an idea choice. ]
(no subject)

Hi Elsa!
[One Caducan comes to close and Tailgate rears back and slams his fist down on it, effectively crushing and killing them instantly.
21!]
Rather exciting out here, isn't it? Oh, is that ice? Do you have ice powers? That's super cool!
[He says enthusiastically, shaking the gore from his hand.]
I always felt as if you were a bit winter-themed!
no subject
She needs a moment to recover from that because a) she has never seen gore like that before, much less in that quantity and b) she's wondering if this really is somehow the same, sweet little (giant) robot she's spoken with a handful of times. Because that was not sweet or adorable at all.
Only managing to shake herself out of gaping at the carnage at the sounds of more Caducans approaching, Elsa draws in a sharp breath and turns her attention back to them. Swinging an arm out toward them, she freezes their feet in place, still trying to get the image of Tailgate crushing that enemy out of her mind. ]
Uhm-- Yes, yes, I-- They are ice powers.
[ The confirmation comes with an almost tentative nod, and the briefest of glances back in Tailgate's direction. The smile she offers him is wary, wishing she could find his last comment as cute as she might have just two minutes ago. ]
You... aren't bothered by the combat at all? Is this something you're used to?
no subject
[Tailgate says enthusiastically as he watches the approaching enemies with excited interest. He glances down at his bloody hand and shakes it with mild disgust. Ew, it's everywhere!]
It's a lot messier than I expected, but we're supposed to fight, right? So it's okay.
no subject
We're supposed to fight, yes, but... You don't think that your method is a bit...extreme?
[ Her gaze falls on his hand again and she grimaces, unable to stop the instinctive reaction to seeing that much gore. ]
I know that they're our enemies, but I don't think they quite deserve that.
