"Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and offered a contract to sign that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

Having left Amissis-Re behind, tensions among crew members have continued to escalate into ship-wide consequences, and recognizing the need for some separation among those aboard the Moira, the Captains make the unanimous decision to deviate from their present course to a "nearby" planet that is notable for such popular distractions. While it is not a permanent solution, measures are being taken to monitor the crew's morale much more closely. New arrivals will be treated as they always are; yet, now, more than ever, it is important to stress the balance of working together toward their goal of reaching their destination so that everyone will return home.

WELCOME TO COLLECTIVES ASH3 - BF3 - CLF5

The Collective is a paradise resort located far from any other neighboring planets to offer the most leisurely experience possible to its patrons. Artificially created for multiple uses, it is divided into separate locales interconnected with a tubing transport system that is so fast and efficient that it’s like being teleported to the next area. Extensive mapping can be found at various intersecting points to offer some direction, and there are even recognizable adverts from a very familiar stop months before spread out across the Collective. Whether looking to explore or to simply shed the weight of anxiety, there are plenty of opportunities to be found within ASH3, BF3, and CLF5.

All crew members are given a card from the Captains that has an unlimited amount of credits on it. Organized through trade, these allow Moirans access to any of the luxuries that the Collective has to offer aside from the purchase of items considered weapons due to the escalation of recent events. Food, clothes, trinkets, or even a full spa experience—the limits, otherwise, are endless. The Captains emphasize that this is time to relax and take a break from the grind that is living and working on a spaceship as unique as the Moira.

B.E.A.C.H! THE BEST ESCAPE ANYONE CAN HAVE!
For those seeking a fun time, the Collective offers a variety of activities on ASH3. There are multiple beaches to enjoy as well as beachside kiosks offering drinks, beach toys and surf equipment for those a little more sports-minded. The tide washes in beautiful shells to collect, and there are always life-guards on duty to make sure everyone stays safe while enjoying their time on the beach. ASH3 offers a safe and friendly environment with plenty of fun in the sun for everyone. There is also a boardwalk full of restaurants, bars and plenty of games and entertainment for when you want to step off the sand but don’t want to give up being out in the sun.For those who can’t or won’t bear the sun, ASH3 also offers a thriving night life on both beach and boardwalk. There are midnight boat tours to view the bioluminescent schools of fish native to the island and bonfire dance parties that go long into the mornings. On the boardwalk, all shops are open until midnight as well as many clubs and social spots where crew can mingle with other tourists in the area.

So you don’t like the sand. It’s too hot, and it gets everywhere. Then hop onto one of the many transportation systems, slip into some warmer clothes, and take to the slopes. More experienced crew can immediately dive in, but those who need help can take lessons on how to ski or snowboard. There’s hot cocoa, sleds, snowball fights, and the occasional person making a snow angel (or snow person). ASH3 also has areas for rock climbing, sky diving, base jumping, bodyboarding, canoeing, hang gliding, jetskis, mountain biking, hiking, and much more.

WHEN I SHOP, THE WORLD GETS BETTER
Not everyone enjoys shopping, but this Collective entices even the most frugal and reluctant into spending their credits here. In fact, the Captains are encouraging this. They give the explicit “order” to buy whatever you want for yourself and your fellow crew members, but more than that, to consider making purchases to better the ship. Is there any area of the Moira that needs spruced up? Maybe some fresh paint in the mess hall,or new furniture in the decks? Maybe some fancy curtains for all those windows on the observation deck, or a few throw pillows? New pots and pans for the kitchen might be something to add to this list as well as equipment for the rec area, or whatever else you think BF3 will have to help increase comfort aboard the Moira.

To enhance your shopping experience, the technology here allows you to try on clothes without lifting a hand. The food here is an unlimited spread of gourmet dining to comfort food and every dessert you can think of. When you’re finished with your purchases, have all your packages and larger items delivered back to the ship for you.

TREAT YO SELF
The accommodations on the Collective of CLF5 are as unique as they come. Lodging is available for those who want to sleep in an environment that’s underwater or perhaps those who desire something as simple as a soft bed. No matter what kind of room you want to purchase for the night, it’ll be available here, and the only true limit is the imagination. When you aren’t relaxing in a hotel room, you’ll find that there are numerous spas and hair salons that offer varied services. Gold face masks rejuvenate your skin, the Ever Young™ Spa can make you look ten years younger with one treatment, and the mud baths are known across the universes for making you feel youthful and refreshed. If you’re looking for a new hairstyle or to relax, this Collective is the place for you to spend those hard-earned credits.

sickbays: (is there life out there)

beach.

[ Why anyone would choose the chilly air of the slopes over the warm sunbeams of the beach is beyond Bones' comprehension. After being cooped up on a ship for so long, with nothing but artificial light, it feels heavenly to be out in the sun, his chest and legs exposed as he stretches out along a towel, in nothing but his ridiculous pair of swimtrunks. He's people watching, mostly, eyes trailing from one scantily clad tourist to another, his lips pressed to the rim of an iced cold mint julep.

The glass is almost depleted by the time Dorian strides into his view. And with that tiny thing wrapped around his thighs, it does make for quite the view. Not that Bones is looking, of course...

He finishes his drink and gives a glance up at the other man. ]

Hey, you need a drink from the stand? I was jus' about to head back there.

[Not that Dorian is one to mind at all that he's being looked at, he rather enjoys the attention when he knows he's receiving it. He can't bask in it if the ogling is inconspicuous and Maker knows he's no intention of being as discreet when addressed.

The man's swimming gears isn't all bad, Dorian rather likes the skull and crossbones patterns. Like a warning label for poison. More than that? A man offering to get him a drink...was this a random act of kindness or an expression of interest?

He was anxious to let it play out.]

How can I possibly refuse such generosity from someone so strapping?
sickbays: ᴅɴᴛ (my next thirty years)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-08 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ Inconspicuous is the only way Leonard can allow himself to ogle. It wouldn't be proper otherwise, unless he was given permission. He's in a good enough mood to be mindful of his manners, and an even better mood to want to spend his time (however short or prolonged it may be) with someone he doesn't yet know. ]

You could, but then I'd just bring two back for myself. [ He tries not to appear too flustered by the compliment, covering it up with a quipy line and a downward glance as he pushes himself to his feet. ]

So, what's your poison?
liberaltus: (pic#10319709)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-08 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Well if more time in this stranger's presence meant chaste politeness, then Dorian would have to suffer. A stimulating conversation is as good as a once over.]

And more the fool would I be for wasting a drink and the pleasure of your fine company. [You don't have to tell Dorian he's laying it on thick, he knows, but there's nothing quite as fascinating as a man with a touch of shyness about him.

Not an opportunity he would squander either]

I'm not terribly picky [not when it comes to alcohol] but I do have a soft spot in my heart for wine beverages.
sickbays: (good morning beautiful)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-10 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you never struck me as no fool. [ He drawls, lips curling into a soft, lopsided smile. The amusement in his expression is clear, in the way his eyes stare for just a moment longer than necessary before drifting down to the empty julep glass. Taking it in hand, he jokes, ]

In your heart or in your liver? [ Another almost smile peeks out across his features, disappearing only a moment later. ] I'll make it a surprise, then.
liberaltus: (pic#10319784)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-10 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Dorian was too cautious and discerning to be a fool, but he could appreciate the recognition of this and his companion's lingering gaze that encourage the mage to stretch out just a bit more.]

Both, it would appear. [Wine might have been good to the heart, but too much could prove damning to the liver. Such a tricky thing.] I'll wait with bated breath.

[They would have to introduce themselves properly to one another then.]
sickbays: (ain't no thinkin' thing)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-10 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ And, Leonard's hoping, to get to know each other a little better. As much as one person can over one drink, with the possibility of more, if he's still holding his companion's interest by then.

He inclines his head, shuffling off in the direction of the beachside stall and returning just several minutes later with the promised drinks in hand. A mint julep for him and a colorful drink for the other man. He offers the second out to Dorian, muttering, ]

Hope you don't mind your wine frozen. [ Bartender said it was sangria, frozen like a slushie and blended with fruit. Not something Bones would really care to drink but this guy, he thinks, might like it well enough.

Once the glass is handed over, he motions for Dorian to sit with him. ]

There a name I can call you by or does everyone jus' call you beautiful? [ Yes. Two can play the flattery game. ]
liberaltus: (pic#10319709)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-10 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's nothing like a good drink to help move a conversation and with there being so much about his situation that he hardly understands, keeping his attention would not be at all difficult to achieve. Not that his companion would have to try very hard. Especially since most people here understood the basic concepts of grooming, this always made keeping company pleasurable.]

I enjoy experimenting, thank you. [Dorian said, the corner of his lip curling into a suggestive grin that one could take to mean anything. Odds were he would enjoy it and if it was too cold he had methods for warming things up a bit.

Glass in hand he accepted the silent invitation to sit, having no problem at all with personal space, even in this heat.]

If I tell you my name will you still call me beautiful? [That rubbed him the right way actually and he was almost lament to give his name, but he relented after a moment.] Dorian of House Pavus. A pleasure.

sickbays: (die a happy man)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-11 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A tiny huff of amusement escapes him when he notices the grin. It's been a while since he's felt this good, this cheerful enough to drop the ornery doctor disposition and just enjoy himself. Maybe he did need shore leave worse than he thought.

Or maybe this guy is just that good of company. Leonard couldn't deny that he wasn't, at least not so far. His eyes watch as Dorian settles in beside him, atop the beach towel cushioned by the shoreline's soft sand. ]

I suppose, since you asked so nicely. [ He teases, waiting for the man to introduce himself before offering his own. ] Leonard McCoy. The pleasure's all mine.

[ He raises his glass, offering up a toast in lieu of a handshake. ]
liberaltus: (pic#10319814)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dorian had yet to learn the full extent of the miseries of their captivity, with this as his introduction. Though he's keenly aware that this might just be the calm before the storm, it was certainly very pleasant. He was also aware that he should probably be more concerned about returning to the Inquisition...but again...also pleasant.

He enjoyed flattery and those willing to flatter him, men and women alike, but it wasn't often than men did so openly. Getting him drinks, offering to share a towel with him on a beach, it's almost too peculiar...in a nice way.]

I'll hold you to it. [Yes, do call him beautiful some more, his ego is infinitely greedy.] Leonard McCoy.

[It might be a good thing that he offered up a toast instead of his hand, Dorian was still learning not to kiss hands that were offered to him. Not that this wasn't just as cozy, he leaned in a bit, raising his glass to Leonard's.]

Now if only the sun were setting this would be positively picturesque. [Like something out of Varric's terrible erotic novels, except better.] Tell me something about yourself, I'd like to know more about the enchanting company I've found myself in.
sickbays: ᴅɴᴛ (if i could make a livin')

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-12 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ Leonard's just hoping nothing bad will come out of the woodwork while they're here. He just wants a break, a chance to relax and enjoy himself without worrying what sort of trouble might be waiting around the corner. With their luck, though, something will probably pop up.

He might as well indulge himself now while he still can. In drink, rest, and company. The man clinks his glass against Dorian's, raising it to his lips for a sip. ]

Not to mention the biggest romantic cliché of all time. [ That doesn't mean Bones doesn't care for it, though. He does, he's just not going to allow himself admit it. Instead, he just ponders the other man's inquiry, gruffing, ]

There's nothin' that enchantin' about me. I'm jus' a doctor. Been one for a few months since I've been aboard this ship, and for a couple years before that, on the ship I was stationed on back home. A star ship. [ A ship he misses quite dearly. ] Job's not all that dissimilar, really, it's jus' a lot less work now that I'm not in charge of the department.

[ It's been kind of nice, not being chained to a desk for part of the day, shifting through reports and signing off on things. Leaves more time for him to focus on other projects. Research and the like. He turns slightly, giving Dorian an interested look. ]

What about you? What did you do before all this?
liberaltus: (pic#10319718)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
And we wouldn't want to get all syrupy now, would we? [Dorian's smile was still firmly in place, touched with a hint of laughter. He wouldn't know romance if it bit him square on the nose, he had no experiences with which to compare.

Instead of dwelling on it, however, he stretched his legs out, crossing them at the ankles, sipping his drink idly as he focused on Leonard and what he was saying. The drink wasn't bad actually, against the warmth of the beach it made his skin tingle pleasantly from the chill.]

Well, Leonard McCoy who is just a doctor, I think that sounds rather spectacular. Well aside from the ship bit because I've never been too fond of ships...I'm prone to motion sickness. How fortunate I am that you are a doctor. [and coincidental now that he thinks about it] We might just run into one another quite a bit. I am a Research Technician, they want me to research and catalogue medical issues pertaining to the crew. It's not my area of expertise, I can research well enough, and I can craft potions, but I'm no healer. My interests lie more within the realm of the arcane, inventing different types of magic.

[Which enables him to segue into Leonard's question.]

I'm a mage, and before this I was part of an organization called the Inquisition. I ran away from home in order to help save the world, save the world and my homeland from itself.
sickbays: ᴅɴᴛ (who i am with you)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-06-16 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Not unless you're into that. [ Leonard's an old-fashioned romantic. An unapologetic one, when he's able to show it. He relishes in it, making others feel good about themselves, like they're wanted and appreciated. Like someone out there actually cares about them (and Leonard usually does, to some degree, even if it's someone he barely knows).

He hums a soft noise of agreement. ]

I'm not fond of them either. I get sick every now and again too, but that's usually 'cause of the turbulence. [ It used to be a lot worse, before all his flight sims and therapy sessions. Now, at least, he doesn't have to lock himself in a bathroom in order to fly anywhere. The doctor looks across at him, his attention a little more curious now that he mentions them working together. ]

If you can do the research, you'll be fine. Just swing by the library every now and again and read up on whatever medical books you can find. And ask questions. They'll be people around you who know what they're doin'.

[ Generally, anyway. It's not like he'll be the only mage working within the medical department. One of the other doctors is a magic-user. If that kid can do it, Leonard has no doubt this guy can, too.

He listens intently to the rest, with a soft snort escaping him at that last bit. ]
God, don't tell me you're one of them big damn hero types.

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-16 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Not unless you're into that. It was enough to give Dorian pause, raise his eyebrows, and sip his drink thoughtfully. Savor the moment, it isn't often that something leaves Dorian speechless. People aren't often lovey-dovey toward him, or romantic for that matter. Flirtatious yes, he's attractive, it's natural, but romance isn't done where he's from.]

I don't know. [It was honest, how does one know they're into something they have no experience with? Dorian, himself, wouldn't be very good at it, at least on the verbal end, but on the receiving end...well he did enjoy being lavished on with affections.]

I remember crossing the Waking Sea and landing on Storm Coast, cheery...and so aptly named. Never been more sick than when I crossed that. [Dorian spent most of the time in the hull hanging on to what remained of his innards. Not the most pleasant topic either, fortunately they were on land and these waters were sultry and pleasant, not cold and angry.]

I'll probably have plenty of questions...I know people spend an extravagant amount of time in universities learning the ways and means of how a body functions. As much time as I've spent in the Circle I suspect. [Dorian could read all about renal pyramids in the kidney, but that did not mean he would understand their function in the same way that a doctor did or anyone who had more experience in the subject of human biology. He was visual as a person, but he was also kinesthetic, he had to do and move and touch, see things at work to understand.] I think I'll be able to get most of what I need from the books, but if these maladies have too many...moving parts, so to speak...you will see plenty of me.

[Dorian laughed at that last bit, it was a velvety laugh, a soft and understated thing.] You mean lofty truth and justice, the embodiment of complete self-righteousness, always strutting around in my moral dignity pants? Egad man! Perish the thought. I do want to save the world and my homeland...but there is a hole in the sky threatening to unravel the world. I don't want to die, so my intentions are not entirely altruistic, I am doing it for myself, but I also want to be a representative of what my country could be- once I've finished beating it into submission.

[ He doesn't savor the reaction so much as he does observe. It's a talent Leonard prides himself on — being able to read others through their mannerisms, empathizing with their emotions. Once the man's uncertainty is vocalized, the doctor furrows his brows at him. ]

What do you mean you don't know? [ It's not an actual question, more of an expression of disbelief. This poor sap. Leonard turns his body slightly, facing Dorian a little more fully. ] No one's ever tried to court you?

[ A look of sympathy flickers across his features, not only at that, but at the mention of the Waking Sea and Storm Coast. He could only imagine what that must have been like. Hell, probably, if the boat didn't have a motor or some cozy place to sleep. ]

The captains do like to throw people out to the wolves, that's for sure. I'm sure I can spare a few minutes for you, if somethin' comes up. [ He tilts the edge of his lip into an almost smirk. It might be worthwhile endeavor for the both of them, for Dorian to learn and Leonard to hear about the projects he's been assigned. Because he's a nerd. ]

Good. [ He grumbles, approving of the answer with a curt huff. ] I'm glad someone 'round here has some sliver of self-preservation. [ Pot, kettle. He pauses for a moment, though, looking down at his drink and taking a short sip. ]

Still, that's hell of a thin' to put on the backburner. A hole in the sky?
liberaltus: (pic#10319766)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-19 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Things are more...complicated in my country. For example, depending on your class, people do not have children, they breed traits. I am an example of that, unfortunately not the perfect example given my druthers. [Take that as you will.] Typically you're arranged to be married to a person you'll dutifully spend the rest of your life with living in luxurious despair, distill more of those highly sought after traits into your own offspring, and brace yourself to follow in the footsteps of your parents. If you're involved in anything else on the side it's hidden, accepted as something physical, but taken no further. Hoping for more than this? Foolish. So no, there is not much in the way of courting in the Imperium...though once in a while people do get lucky.

[Once in a very long while. Sadly, Dorian wasn't that lucky, but he sipped his drink and kept his expression surprisingly neutral regardless of his feelings about the subject on the inside. Those were...complicated things as well.]

Marvelous! [Dorian bumped Leonard's arm with his own, perhaps he could encourage the quirk of his lips into a full-blown smirk.] If it means I get to have the singular pleasure of your company then I would be a fool not to take advantage of any opportunity.

[It would be completely and strictly professional, of course.]

I am rather discerning and I do happen to like living. [The gruff response only draws a chuckle from Dorian who happens to like that sort of thing. He'll gladly give his life for a worthy enough cause, but he will not do so wastefully making him more cautious than those around him.]

Mmm...yes! That hole in the sky has created several Rifts in my world, these Rifts happen to spew demons who are, for the most part, tethered to these Rifts...for how long, I do not know.

Sounds more like a prison sentence than a marriage. [ Not that he has a whole lot of room to talk, given how horribly his own marriage ended. It hadn't always been that way, though. There was a time when he was happy, in love, trying to do whatever he could to make a better life for his family. ]

Don't abuse it. [ He warns, his tone uncharacteristically light, teasing like the expression that flits across his face. A smile tugging at the corner of his lips again, not breaking out but there just long enough for someone to blink and miss it. ]

Now you're jus' pullin' my leg. [ Demons coming out of holes in the sky? He can barely fathom such an image. He tries to, though, at least for a moment, his expression shifting to one of consideration. ] I thought demons'd crawl out of the ground, not fall from the sky.
liberaltus: (pic#10264364)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-06-30 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That is putting it elegantly. [Marriage never made his parents very happy, in spite of all of the affection Dorian received as a child. He supposed that was the one thing that distracted his parents from one another, brought them together without bringing them together, their mutual interest in Dorian.]

That makes it all the more tempting. Like poking a sleeping dragon with a stick. [Dorian did return that little quirk with a full blown smile of his own, idly wondering what it would take to put a full, more lingering smile on Leonard's lips.]

Quite the contrary, unless you like that sort of thing of course. [Dorian laughs softly at his turn of phrase, he amuses himself, really.] There are a number of things I could kid you about, but Demons from the sky? Not one of them. Nor would I kid about how fetching your eyes are.

[What? He has a thing for sympathetic eyes.]
sickbays: ᴅɴᴛ (my next thirty years)

[personal profile] sickbays 2016-07-01 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Why in the hell would that ever be temptin'? [ He looks slightly concerned for a moment, even if the metaphor itself was a fairly apt one. Poke him enough times and he almost certainly will breath fire, much like a dragon would when their nap is interrupted. ]

Only when I'm the one doin' the pulling. [ He gruffs, trying to add to his point with the tone even if it sounds more put-on then genuine. It's just one of his charms, the whole pretending to be grumpy thing. ]

That's... good, then. [ His expression flushes for a moment but recovers from it quickly, his gaze straying away from Dorian then moving back. A little more confident than before. ] I like a man that's honest.
liberaltus: (pic#10319709)

[personal profile] liberaltus 2016-07-01 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose for the same reason pushing buttons you are uncertain of is tempting. There is always that small voice in the back of your head saying "you know you want to." Fortunately there are bigger voices. [Dorian seemed appropriately amused by the idea of poking a dragon, however, in spite of himself. Naturally he had more sense than that, but the picture was amusing.]

Oh? Is that how you like it? Well When it comes to who is pulling and who is being pulled, I'm rather flexible. [What exactly are they talking about? Whatever it is, Dorian has just transformed it into some kind of innuendo.]

It seems we have that in common. [It's the reason why Dorian reaches up to briefly brush a thumb against Leonard's cheek before that flush can recede completely. He is an irreverent flirt, after all.] I like honest men as well. There are so few kicking around where I come from.
