Of course he ends up docked next to Anakin's shuttle. They work together well enough, when necessary-- as much as good pilots ever work together, with the usual good-natured bragging and showing off-- but it's pretty damn odd working with him. Nothing personal, just the fact that he's Luke's father. And Leia's father.
Which makes it all the more awkward that he finds himself wanting his perspective on the whole business, but there aren't so many people to turn to when it comes to dealing with sudden, unexpected fatherhood. He hasn't actually asked Leia whether she's told Anakin about his grandson, but they're close enough that it seems a given.
But he's got no idea how to start that conversation, anyway.]
Well, better than the last planet.
[He's gonna try easing into it slowly. And quite possibly losing his nerve, who knows.]

[Not that Del Pascia had been a planet or even passed for one, but a pit stop is a pit stop, and as far as he's concerned, it effectively counts. The Moira just seems to have a long and storied history of terrible luck with planet stops, and honestly, most of it goes right back to that lack of discipline the Captains themselves cite as an issue (albeit one they still haven't done much to curb; doubtful that fewer restrictions like this is about to make that any better).]
How long do you give it until someone inevitably messes this one up too?
[An unfortunately very real possibility, given the crew's track record.]
no subject
[A few good meals, a few nights not spent surrounded by strange roommates (and also not on the cramped bunks of the Falcon, his usual alternative)-- that sounds good. And hopefully enough time to bolt before things get too terrible.]
Have anything planned?
no subject
Sort of. [How does he even explain this? To his daughter's...significant other no less?] We're not...we're not supposed to own things back home. Obvious attachment. But if I've already broken that rule for someone, I might as well go all the way. Right?
[
Anakin, are you asking your would-be son-in-law for relationship advice?]no subject
The attachment thing. [Han doesn't quite roll his eyes. Poor Obi-Wan has already been treated to Han's impassioned and maybe slightly drunk thoughts on what a terrible rule that is. There's no reason for a repeat performance, since he figures Anakin is probably on his side, what with the kids.]
I guess-- wait, what are you getting?
no subject
Or so he thinks.]
...Rings?
no subject
Much safer to have a conversation about Anakin buying rings than about himself not buying them, that's for sure.]
Yeah? [Wow, that doesn't sound very supportive.] That sounds nice, I mean, this seems like a good place for that.
[And for a ceremony, if they're having one. If they haven't had one. Leia's mentioned a little about their mother but Han hasn't actually got a clue how things stand between his would-be in-laws.]
no subject
[He'd left too much of this responsibility on his wife the first time. The proposal, the place, the time, the ceremony. He'd wanted all of it, still wants all of it, but suddenly sees why she'd taken charge when he feels so out of place. He'll do anything to prove how he feels. Over and again. But getting to that how is a different question altogether.]
no subject
Did you tell Leia and Luke?
[He nearly said the kids but that's way too weird under the circumstances. And maybe the question itself is weird-- it's impossible, anywhere other than here-- but wouldn't they be glad to know about it?]
no subject
[There's also that detail too. Padmé doesn't know about it either.] She doesn't--their mother--doesn't know about it either. We had a wedding, but she doesn't remember anything about it. [Anakin gives the loudest, most teenage sigh.] I just want to do it right.
no subject
Leia hasn't told him too many details about her mother-- it's a strange enough topic that he's not inclined to press, particularly when she's dealing with the aftermath of seeing Bail and Breha again-- so it comes as a surprise that she doesn't know about her own wedding. By now, he figures, she must have at least guessed, if she knows her children.]
It's a lot to take in, [he agrees, testing the waters a little.] Families out of nowhere. At least you all get along. She'll probably love it.
