True. Or it's all based off religions and opinions of not matching. Race as well. War overall is completely unnecessary. Avoidable. There are just too many men in power who act like children.
[ Elena sighs then. Of course Nathan would put out a challenge. One of these days she should get the jump on him and challenge him. ]
Arno, nice to make your acquaintance. [ She laughs, smiling widely. ] He has a habit of chewing off more than he can swallow, I'm afraid. A bad habit.
It's mostly because of choice. [A shrug, but he's saying it more to himself than anything else. Part of him is slowly beginning to understand the Assassins and their choice to assist to allow choice, rather than simply doing his work based on his own agenda.
But he laughs in return when she asks him how he did it.]
He was climbing one of the ledges when I saw him, actually. I say climbing, but it seemed more like he was trying to nearly break his neck by getting up there. So I asked him if he was aiming to do so, and he challenged me to do better.
[Arno looks around him at this point, and sighs.]
I'd show you what exactly I did, unfortunately I don't think trees will be as good a substitute compared to walls and corners.
[ Elena puts her face in a hand on a groan. She doesn't seem the least bit surprised. ]
That definitely sounds like him. But to be fair, that's kind of how we climb. And he's been doing it a lot longer than I have.
[ Looking around as well she spots an area and gestures towards it. If this guy climbs and can outdo Nate, she wants to see it for herself. ]
What about over there? It's a bit of a trek but it's the more better choice out of trees and sand. We can talk along the way about how you somehow made a lucky guess on how I know Nate.
[ Though...she pauses before heading out of the shade to look him over. She's dressed perfectly for this weather, not as self conscious of her shrapnel scarring being so out in the open, but this old French dude is dressed so heavily. ]
...you sure you're okay in all that? You're wearing more layers than a wedding cake.
Oui, I'm well aware. [Arno tilts his head, smiling.] I'd be a bit more concerned if people moved like I did.
[He turns when she gestures to the area, and his mouth twists slightly, thinking. It doesn't last long, however, before he crosses his arms, assessing it.
Only not really, it's more like he's mocking it.]
It shouldn't be a problem. [He pauses in his words, hesitating just a little.] And it wasn't a lucky guess. He's very fond of you.
[The Frenchman raises a brow at that and looks himself over before he chuckles. She has a point, but then again, she's from far ahead of him, so she wouldn't be used to this style of dressing anyway.]
Would you believe me if I said I'm completely comfortable in this attire? It's what I run in back in Paris. I think I'll do fine, provided I don't stay in the sun for hours.
You can consider my curiosity piqued. I want to see you climb for myself, maybe you can give me some pointers.
[ She'd been about to set out for the location when his next words stopped her. Other than the fact that Nate was her husband, she was a little surprised to hear that. ]
He must've been talking. Do I want to know what he was saying? And— [ Elena looked him over one more time. ] —I'll reserve my judgment after I see you climb and how you climb in all those layers.
You wouldn't be the first to ask me to teach you, I can assure you of that.
[He didn't teach many people in the Drabwurld, but when he did, he learned a lot in return. Arno shakes his head at Elena, smiling just a little, when she talks about Nate again.]
He didn't really talk much about you. I saw his journal- he had already finished two drawings of you and was starting on a third, I believe. When I did ask, he was rather tight-lipped about it, other than saying that you were his wife. [He breathes out.] Nathan didn't say you were on the ship, and I assumed that you were back home, so I gave my condolences. "I know what it's like to be apart from someone you care for," I'd told him. Obviously, he made no effort to correct me.
[He's a little annoyed, but he'll get over it. He understands why, at least. With that, Arno shrugs.]
Other than that, he learned of the time I was from and hoped I hadn't run into the bad side of the guillotine myself, so all in all, I would say the conversation went well.
[At last they reach the alcove that Elena's pointed out, and Arno can't help but raise a brow as he looks it over.]
It's certainly not the architecture of Paris, but I can work with it. [Without much warning, he takes off, and climbs with a rather efficient method of parkour and speed up with wall, using handholds as balancing points before throwing himself upwards and grabbing onto a new ledge, and then finally twirling himself over the top so he can place his feet on a solid area once again.
If Elena was wondering how Arno had beaten Nate in his challenge, she may just have seen why.]
