[Dorian's eyes widened a bit, a little surprised, a little impressed, a little curious.

His eyes too followed Kazuhira's gaze along his arm. He knew that losing a limb couldn't and probably wasn't an easy thing, but it didn't take anything away from the man. Not in the mage's opinion- and there was a strong urge to touch him.

Science was ever a kind of magic that he didn't understand and he'd never seen prosthetics quite like that. Peg legs and an axe bolted to your arm was as advanced as it got. This was beautiful, even though it was probably a source of pain for his companion...and he could empathize with that.

Fortunately he drew himself out of it, easy smile on his lips.]

I'll make a list for you, not that you should come across these plants, but just in case...I think I remember most of what Ines Arancia says about them in The Botanical Compendium.

Some of them ward off threats, some can be used as poisons or explosives...the dangerous ones I won't make without a good cause...but the tonics that can protect from the heat and the cold, armor, and healing potions, I will keep these in stock.

[Dorian wasn't quite certain what to do in this particular situation, if the self-consciousness came from the prosthetic...or if it was what happened to him that made the prosthetics necessary. He couldn't tell what was going on behind the glasses, but he did reach out, almost delicately, to tip his companion's chin up.

There wasn't pity in Dorian's face, he didn't do pity, pity felt like someone spitting on your cheek. There was appreciation, however, and the ever present humor.]

You have quite a bit on you mind, I can tell...or I could be imagining things. I do that on occasion.

Oh? Heh... no. I mean, I have had a lot on my mind. But in that case, it was because I said something remarkably inept. And usually I'm very good at minding my tongue.

[Usually. Except when certain co-workers drove him to frustration.]

[He puts on another slight smile, huffs a very soft laugh.] I would certainly like to see how you come up with your explosives though.

Which probably makes me seem considerably less cultured than I am but a soldier can't be faulted his priorities. I promise you sir, I'm as big a fan of literature and poetry as I am explosives and toxins.

A shame, I'm more interested in seeing the credit your tongue gets you. [Way to understate his lecherousness, but Dorian is very good at appearing conversational about it.] It's fine, if you want to speak your mind, I like that. Too many people keep a jail within themselves, but as elegant as I am, even I make slip ups now and then. I cannot promise I'll be perfect all the time [a grin, yes he believes in his own flawlessness, but he's also playing] and that's okay, isn't it?

[Ah, and that draws a velvety laugh from Dorian, eyes dancing as he watches Miller.] Fine qualities for a man and perhaps you could recite some poetry to me if you have the time, that would be delightful...but we're not so different. I'm very fond of literature, but I also enjoy flashy things that explode.

[And that earns Miller a reassuring wink.]

Watch me work sometime, I'll make some Antivan Fire just for you.
