He doesn't look like an Autobot! [then again, Tailgate doesn't exactly look like a Decepticon either. This place is really confusing him and challenging him in ways he's sort of uncomfortable with. Fifty mega-cycles ago, they didn't even know Decepticons were still in existence, let alone active.
