"Open up, and let them in."

It does make sense. I would have done the same thing if I had a lot to pack.

[ How did she end up in charge of so many areas of the ship? She's clearly not volunteering the information without being asked. ]
no subject
[Yes, the most surprising thing it that. And the thing he is most interested in. For someone his age, it might seem odd. Then again with all the weapons on him, it might not seem as strange.]
no subject
[ She's glad for it, too—not just everyone would have been a good candidate for a role like that. ]

[He blurts out. Everything else she said not completely gone unheard - apart of him actually thinks he's seen a shopping planet - but the part about doing it all herself has him impressed and amazed at the same time. Sometimes he really was just a boy that got excited about things.]
Pretty cool, if you ask me. Too bad the ship went crashing down and we can't use it right now.
no subject
[ Small consolation, that. ]
no subject
It's good it was here than some planet we'd never be able to leave.
no subject
[ One could assume, but it was never a good idea. Everyone had their own ideas about whether they even missed their home worlds, much less whether they were going to choose to go back. And even being a minor, he had that choice. No one would force him. ]
no subject
[Sure some of his extended family was here and that was really helpful in making him accept his situation, but it was never enough to convince him to stay. His whole family is what he wanted back most and they were waiting at his home.]
Aren't you?
no subject
[ Things could go south between her and the boyfriend she made here, she knows, so she's not counting on that being a permanent connection, but she doesn't mind the idea of making a home in a new place, either. ]
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be going to his world with him once they figure out how to send everyone back.
no subject
[It's him that shouldn't have assumed, he realizes. He had friends that stayed behind in the last place like this one he was in. The only difference the situation there seemed better than the one here.
He swallows and nods back a little after letting that sink in.]
I didn't even think about if you could go to other worlds or about any reasons to stay. Sorry.
no subject
[ She doesn't blame him for making assumptions. If a person was inclined to go back where they came from, why would they think much of taking any other option? ]
Are things safe where you were?
no subject
No. It's not safe...but that's where the rest of my family is. My dad and my sister and everyone else. [Since he sees no reason not to be honest.]
no subject
It's a risk...but we can carry small items through the Ingress with us when we travel through it. It might be worth it to take a few weapons with you when you go. Are you trained in firing a gun?
no subject
He decides again with the truth, because why not. She seems like she'd understand anyway.]
Yeah. I was allowed to learn by my dad. I was a good shot, too.
[Was because he's sorta still working on adjusting to his new depth perception, but he doesn't feel up to explain that.]
no subject
no subject
No. It's not like I didn't want to. I just...can't waste my bullets.
I never knew about the gun range either. [If they would even let him in since he's a kid, he thinks, as well.]
no subject
[ She pauses and looks out into the group of people nearby, thinking. The reference to the past tense hadn't been lost on her, and she doesn't really know whether his eye injury happened while on the ship, or before he arrived, but she does know via proxy how difficult it can make shooting. So she may as well bring it up. ]
Have you met York? He's a soldier from the same program I'm in. He has a bad eye, like you.
no subject
The fact this person is a soldier rings a bell, though.]
Uh... He wouldn't have a dog, would he?
no subject
no subject
Then no. Don't think I seen him around.
no subject
[ She gestures in the direction where she saw York last, and if Carl seems amenable, will step off in that direction. ]
no subject
Um, sure. I guess I can meet him.
no subject
[ York is the very definition of a people person, even if he can be an asshole to people who irritate him.
She leads Carl over in that direction, spots York, and zeroes in on him. ]
