Where: The Mini Colony of the Runoff & the Moira.
What: The Moira stops to resupply at the closest planet and things get weird.

E V E N T L O G

Between the Perspectives "but in your future, the you i see is exactly the person you always wanted to be." Supplies have been loaded onto the ship, and the captains have encouraged all crew members to explore with the added notice that this will be the last planetary stop (hopefully) until the Moira reaches the Midway Hub. While seemingly uneventful on the Moira, the mini colony has been thrumming with adventure and has offered its visitors the opportunity to explore. To those who have indulged, some experienced great changes and others discovered enlightening information about the Ingress and the very ship some have called home for over a year. Later in the month, the Lamaria hold the closing ceremony of the Desiderium Festival (which was noted on the prior event log) . The burgundy and lime colors of the celebration slowly fade into black and vermillion, and small fires are now in place for visitors to throw their written notes into. Everyone who participates will be blessed by one of the Lamaria (they will visit the ship as well), and the MID will be able to only translate bits and pieces of what this blessing means. "Experienced loss — every story is different — and saying goodbye — not to know — understanding lies in the mingling of holding on and letting go." ☄ TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL For some, it might be due to a touch or a look. For others, it might not be any of those things at all, and something that just happens. Either way, shortly after the blessing occurs, you will find yourself changing. Your character’s body will slowly transform into the physical likeness of another being on the Mini Colony. The effects of this change may last as short as a day or as long as a week, but each come with their own stipulations—advantages and disadvantages. This is limited to one as the blessing itself only allows for “a little understanding”. Linked below are some of the possible transformations that your character can go through. Players can choose either one of the mod-supplied suggestions or choose the form of another already living on the Moira. ☄ THE FEAR MACHINE Paranoia writes the checks, we're dangling here like a marionette. Here we go again, the world is coming to an end. Engage the fear machine and collect the dividends. While the festival is beautiful, and some have found enlightenment and understanding here, there are those on the mini colony who don't enjoy the festivities. In a secluded room on the fifth floor in one of the buildings in the Science District, there is one such person who finds the religious festival to be a nuisance—one who should be stopped. Thinking that disrupting the blessings and celebration will somehow "get back" at the Lamaria for impeding their work (some of those who have transformed got into the building a few years ago and destroyed this person's property). Pettiness thrives, and they create something they dub The Fear Machine. Yet, while the science is sound, the technology itself is not. In the middle of the mini colony, the machine is set off, and bolts of transparent energy erupt and spark out around it, stretching as far as the docked ships. Since the technology wasn't created properly to sustain the energy, it doesn't spread out evenly like they had hoped. Some are hit. Some are not. Those who are will develop a sudden and overwhelming phobia that will last well into the beginning of November. The machine might be turned off and left behind, but the obsessive fear has only just begun. ( ooc; For questions, go here. Medbay

[Hawke is off in the medbay looking for Thane only to find someone... making off with his jacket. Never mind that she had just gone through hell herself and should probably be taking his place. She moves swiftly and grabs the offender by the shoulder.]

Maybe you ought to return that.

[This unexpected and unsettling transformation must have pushed him even further off his game than he initially thought - he'd been completely unaware of being approached until the hand had landed on his shoulder. He reacts automatically to the unexpected contact, dropping low, kicking out one of his legs, and pivoting around all in one smooth, practiced motion to literally sweep his assailant's feet directly out from under her.

Naturally, the sound of her voice registers only after his reflexive motion is completed, and boy does he immediately feel like a shit. He's at her side in the next instant, almost stumbling over himself to apologize.]

Hawke. I'm so sorry - you surprised me. Are you alright?

[He's so distracted by concern for the moment it doesn't even occur to him that she still might not recognize him.]

[Thankfully, despite Hawke's slight appearance, she's used to getting into rough and tumble fights. She's able to throw out her arm to catch herself, wincing a bit as it was damaged in the slave arena, and roll into a crouch.

Then she stares at the offender. Stares and stares.]

Thane?

[Aaaaand, she's staring at him. It takes just a second for him to realize, oh. Right.]

...Yes. I'm not sure what happened. The medbay staff believe it has something to do with the festival taking place in the colony. They expect it's not permanent.

[otiosity]

Oh.

Well.

[She pushes herself up onto her feet, groaning a little as her sore muscles scream at her.]

Could be worse. You could be an ugly person.

I'm flattered.

[So very, very dry. He rises easily to his feet when Hawke gets back to hers, watching her with concern.]

I note you didn't answer my question.

[otiosity]

I'm alright. Always alright.

Seems like we've been down this line of questioning before.

[She gives him an innocent shrug.]

Though it's different with you looking like that. So maybe it doesn't count.

[Wat.]

...Why does my current appearance make a difference?

[otiosity]

Because it's like talking to a handsome man I might run across at the pub instead of a handsome alien man with hallucinogenic lips.

[BRO.]

[Oh. So she was flirting with him. Okay, then.]

I'm not sure what I've said or done which would lead you to believe you would ever find me in pub, human or drell or otherwise.

[otiosity]

Oh, you haven't. Just that most of the people I meet, I meet in pubs. Or... after being attacked by some group or another. So the pub is the ideal option.

It does sound as though you're used to leading a very exciting life.

[Well, that's one way to put it.

And, since he is in all honesty kind of sick of staring at the four walls of his hospital room...]

...I was just getting ready to stretch my legs before you showed up. [See exhibit A: street clothes not hospital clothes.] Would you like to join me?

[otiosity]

Too exciting, sometimes!

[She agrees and then puts her hands in her pockets and gives him a grin before coming to stand beside him.]

Promise you won't have to carry me this time.

[psychadrellic]

I can only make that promise if you likewise promise not to take any impromptu naps in inconvenient or dangerous locations.

[otiosity]

I promise.

Though what if there is really really comfortable grass. Or maybe, the ground is entirely made of pillows? You never know what we'll find.

[psychadrellic]

Or, if you truly insist on napping, I could escort you to your own quarters, where you can sleep in the known safety and comfort of your own bed.

[He's smiling at her silliness, even though his response to it is serious.]

You'd throw me in my narrow hard bed on Nomo instead of a garden full of pillows? You're a cold man, Thane.

I suppose we could bring some of the pillows along, if you insist. Would ten be sufficient, do you think, or would more be better?

[otiosity]

Ten sounds good. Enough to stretch out but easy enough to carry. Though perhaps we ought to wait and see if there even is a pillow garden. Because the talk is enough to make me tired.

That probably would be the wisest course of action, yes.

[Hawke, you are so, so silly. What is he even going to do with you.

...Well. Go on a nice walk for a start, apparently. It's time to blow this popsicle stand!

And by "blow this popsicle stand" we mean "walk calmly but purposefully out of the med bay."]

[Hawke follows along cheerfully! But also gingerly. It seems strange to be able to do both at the same time but Hawke is a special woman. Her arm is bandaged and she sounds like she's on the verge of a cold but she doesn't mention it or even act like she's aware of it.]

So how do you feel? Aside from different which is a rather general word.

[Thane will always remember the first time he encountered Hawke with a cold. Even without an eidetic memory he would remember.

There's no way he's going to even mention that he thinks she sounds a little under the weather right now.]

Different is accurate, though.

[But okay, fine.]

I feel well. According to the medbay staff, my lungs are currently as healthy as it's possible for a pair of human lungs to be.

[Even if he does still sound like a lifetime chain-smoker.]

[Such a gentleman! She sniffs and adjusts her stride to be quicker so she's easily walking side by side with him.]

Must be nice. If I were in that medbay all by myself for so long I'd go sightly crazy. Start talking to my water cup and his best friend the wall. What a trio we would be.

And now you get to be out. Even better. I was starting to run out of stories to tell when I visited. I was fearing I might end up becoming another boring visitor.

You'll forgive my skepticism, but I somehow seriously doubt you could ever run out of stories, or present as "boring" in any sense of the word.

[He's never smiled as much around any one person as he's smiled around Hawke. He never knows what to expect from her, except that it will likely be nonsensical, silly, and amusing, which is something he greatly appreciates.]

This may surprise you to learn, but I am actually quite used to solitude. Between that and your good company, I expect I probably won't be making any overtures of friendship toward my water cup.

Dunno. You might be missing out on that water cup. Maybe its stories are even better.

[She catches him grinning and grins back. She has no idea that she's an unusual source of grins for him! Maybe his species just smiles a lot...]

I suppose you are right. I have an unusual aptitude towards shenanigans and mischief.
