Where: The Mini Colony of the Runoff & the Moira.
What: The Moira stops to resupply at the closest planet and things get weird.

E V E N T L O G

Between the Perspectives "but in your future, the you i see is exactly the person you always wanted to be." Supplies have been loaded onto the ship, and the captains have encouraged all crew members to explore with the added notice that this will be the last planetary stop (hopefully) until the Moira reaches the Midway Hub. While seemingly uneventful on the Moira, the mini colony has been thrumming with adventure and has offered its visitors the opportunity to explore. To those who have indulged, some experienced great changes and others discovered enlightening information about the Ingress and the very ship some have called home for over a year. Later in the month, the Lamaria hold the closing ceremony of the Desiderium Festival (which was noted on the prior event log) . The burgundy and lime colors of the celebration slowly fade into black and vermillion, and small fires are now in place for visitors to throw their written notes into. Everyone who participates will be blessed by one of the Lamaria (they will visit the ship as well), and the MID will be able to only translate bits and pieces of what this blessing means. "Experienced loss — every story is different — and saying goodbye — not to know — understanding lies in the mingling of holding on and letting go." ☄ TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL For some, it might be due to a touch or a look. For others, it might not be any of those things at all, and something that just happens. Either way, shortly after the blessing occurs, you will find yourself changing. Your character’s body will slowly transform into the physical likeness of another being on the Mini Colony. The effects of this change may last as short as a day or as long as a week, but each come with their own stipulations—advantages and disadvantages. This is limited to one as the blessing itself only allows for “a little understanding”. Linked below are some of the possible transformations that your character can go through. Players can choose either one of the mod-supplied suggestions or choose the form of another already living on the Moira. ☄ THE FEAR MACHINE Paranoia writes the checks, we're dangling here like a marionette. Here we go again, the world is coming to an end. Engage the fear machine and collect the dividends. While the festival is beautiful, and some have found enlightenment and understanding here, there are those on the mini colony who don't enjoy the festivities. In a secluded room on the fifth floor in one of the buildings in the Science District, there is one such person who finds the religious festival to be a nuisance—one who should be stopped. Thinking that disrupting the blessings and celebration will somehow "get back" at the Lamaria for impeding their work (some of those who have transformed got into the building a few years ago and destroyed this person's property). Pettiness thrives, and they create something they dub The Fear Machine. Yet, while the science is sound, the technology itself is not. In the middle of the mini colony, the machine is set off, and bolts of transparent energy erupt and spark out around it, stretching as far as the docked ships. Since the technology wasn't created properly to sustain the energy, it doesn't spread out evenly like they had hoped. Some are hit. Some are not. Those who are will develop a sudden and overwhelming phobia that will last well into the beginning of November. The machine might be turned off and left behind, but the obsessive fear has only just begun. ( ooc; For questions, go here. I don't have enemies! I have people who like to think they're my enemy but me? I'm completely above having enemies. It's far too exhausting.

That's a good life philosophy. I can't imagine those who don't consider you in a friendly light are keen to adopt it too, however.

It's probably why I get jumped nearly every time I go out.

[She's taking more water and splashing it on her face. Clearly not super concerned about this fact.]

Is that a common occurrence here, too? Or is it exclusive to back home?

Just back home. Though Nate does sometimes like try to jump me and pick me up.

[The water feels soothing on her face. If she could stay constantly slightly damp, this would be the best place ever. She could take a nap here. She gives a little chuckle.]

I'm really not that interesting.

[Meanwhile Hawke can keep all the water for herself, Thane's good just basking. Even if he's starting to sweat? Wow, that's new and kind of gross.]

[She laughs a little, light and soft like a bell.]

Oh? Is there some reason my appearance now must prevent me from taking interest in those around me?

[For the record, the normally inscrutable Thane Krios is currently obviously but gently teasing.]

If I changed species, I'd be doing some very personal exploring. If you know what I mean. Take that chance and run with it.

[She knows he's teasing but she is a disgusting flirt.]

If that's the case, then I'm afraid I must confess that you are a far braver soul than I.

Stupidly curious and/or horny might also be choice words.

I've always avoided excessive curiosity and unwarranted arousal. Too much of either at the wrong time could have dangerous consequences.

My life is full of dangerous consequences. So I'll take it with curiosity and arousal when I can find it.

And we've circled right back around to bravery again.

...He says this, but then gives her a sidelong glance from the corner of his eyes.]

...Or perhaps stubbornness...Sometimes the two are difficult to separate.

Indeed. My mother used to tell me I was both the bravest and the most stubborn child she'd ever seen. Bravely stubborn and stubbornly brave. Seems like the same thing doesn't it.

[She doesn't mind being teased. Thane has a way of putting her at ease.]

More often than not I've observed the two tend to go hand in hand, myself.

Your mother sounds like an insightful woman. And patient, too, I would guess.

She did her best at both. It's not easy being poor and raising mage children.

[She gives a shrug. Their relationship is complicated and the less she dwells on it the happier of a Marian Hawke she is. For a few moments, she moves the bucket around with her feet, at an unusual loss for words. This happens far too often around him for comfort.]

So. Have you thought about the weather lately?

[...Well, then. That was quite the shut-down. Note to self: Hawke's mother is off-limits as a topic of casual conversation.]

There's no weather in the medbay to speak of. I'm quite enjoying the atmosphere in here, however.

[That was pathetic, but Thane's a bro and will pretend not to notice.

Though he'll glance over at her, since she has dumped quite a lot of water on herself since they settled in.]

You're not too warm, are you?

I suppose anything is better than nothing. Or at least in this case it is. I'm sure fate would prove me wrong if I tried to make a general statement. Sort of how it goes with me.

[She leans over and picks up the bucket again, fills it with water, and pours it over her head again. The company here is more comfortable than most but perhaps the cold is taking more out of her than she expected. Or more likely, it's everything behind the cold.]

No. I mean, I think I might be running a bit of a fever. [She raises a hand to press against the side of her face.] Though I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be able to sweat them out.

"Sweat them out"? That sounds uncomfortable.

[Also, "sweating", as he is discovering, is uncomfortable.]

But, you'd know more about such things than I would.

Oh, it's miserable. Actually having a fever at all is miserable. You get to sweat and shiver at the same time.

[She glances up at him and reaches out to poke his shoulder which is indeed sweating.]

Have you ever sweat before?

[All of him is sweating, not just his shoulder. He glances down at his shoulder where she poked him, then over to meet her eyes with one eyebrow slightly raised and just a hint of a smile curving his lips.]

I have not. I suppose whatever benefit it offers must outweigh the risk of dehydrating, otherwise I can't imagine how humans as a species could have survived as long as they have.

It's supposed to cool you down but it mostly just makes you... well sweaty. Sometimes it's satisfying though. Lets you know you've worked hard. Or fucked hard.

I see...And, I'm guessing that you're more a fan of the latter?
