Or trying to take off their clothes to swim in a fountain and yelling nonsense. Which I think was me after I kissed you. I don't remember it much.
[She gives him side glance, a smile playing on her lips. Usually she hates this sort of thing. Unless she thinks she maybe has an upper hand. Or an easy escape. But somehow she trusts Thane won't try to corner her.]
So we could give it another try?

[She had also, at one point, seemed to be convinced someone named Meredith was watching them from the shrubbery, and then proceeded to vomit on said shrubbery, but he feels it would be kinder not to mention that. There's a line between teasing and being a jerk, and he has no interest in crossing it.
And then she asks that...He turns his head fully to look at her, sees that glance and that smile, and feels a warmth in his gut that has nothing to do with the heat of their environment.]
We could.
[He agrees with a matching smile of his own.]
I feel it fair to warn you, however, that if we try it right now I don't think it's likely you'll experience any intoxicating side-effects.

[This is a strange thing, in a strange place, and Hawke wonders if perhaps she is strangely intoxicated in a way she can't explain. Perhaps she should have taken less of that cold medicine Tony gave her.]

[DUDE. BUDDY. FRIEND.]
I'm nearly naked and I'm waiting.

[She'd been so forward the last time, he'd sort of expected a repeat. But, he's danced this dance before, and as she's clearly impatient for him to make the first move, he wastes no more time. Even as he finishes uttering his apology, he's leaning in, watching her eyes - which are beautiful, despite their alien appearance. He presses his lips to hers, softly but firmly, very different from the passionate, heavy kiss she'd given him on the island.
That could change, however, pending her response.]
damn right
Of course that's always her undoing. In the end, Hawke is all passion, no depth when it comes to these sorts of relationships.]

THERE
Her towel slips off her chest and settles around her waist but she doesn't care. Thankfully they're the only ones occupying this part of sauna. Not that it would have caused her any concern if they weren't. She's now half sitting, half straddling his lap, his knee between her thighs.]
boop
He raises one of his hands to cradle her jaw, fingers curling around the back of her head and neck. It's been ages since he's kissed someone like this. He'd honestly never expected it to happen again. And now it is, probably mere days before...well.
Gently disengaging, he keeps both his hands where they are, and seeks out her eyes with his while he takes a breath - one healthy, pain-free, easy, life-supporting breath. Who knows how many of those he has left?]
Hawke. How much have you thought about this?
[It would be so, so easy to take this to its natural conclusion. Perhaps not right here, in a public space, but somewhere, and soon. But there's too much going on, in his mind, at least, for him to allow that to happen without talking about that first. It would be doing her a disservice, and that's the last thing he wants.]
WHOMP
She pulls back. Thane has the right frame of mind and good intentions but to Hawke her mind zeroes on the fact that she's being rejected. That he doesn't want her or this and bearing what she did to him was a dire mistake. He now knows the weakness in her armor and that's dangerous.
There's a cough as she pulls back and pulls the towel back around her and tries to stumble into a standing position even though her body feels strangely disconnected from her mind.]
No. Didn't think. Probably should have thought about it. Thinking is good. I like thinking about things... like things I have to do. Somewhere else. A place that's not here.
nooo
- incidentally she does have quite a nice front, he's not sure why humans make such a fuss about lady fronts, though he is aware that Hawke's is...smaller, than average -
- He leans forward and catches at one of her hands with his, hoping to at least slow her hasty retreat.]
I believe you've mistaken my meaning. Please don't leave just yet - I have every desire to continue, as long as you're willing.
BABY
She's clearly completely unsure about what to do here.]
So you're not going to lecture me about not thinking? Because I like not thinking.
weh
[Well, she hasn't left yet and she's letting him hold her hand, so...He gives her a little tug...back toward the bench, or his lap...it's her choice. Or, she can remain standing, if she wants. He'll hold her hand for as long as he's allowed.]
I merely wish to ensure that when we move forward, we're on the same page. I've come to care deeply for you, and I don't have a lot of time left. I expect this will be one of my last memories in this life, but not yours, and so I would prefer to proceed with your best interest at heart. I don't wish to inadvertently hurt you; if stopping here might make my departure less painful for you, then I believe that should be considered. But, if you desire to have that memory after I'm gone...I apologize for overthinking.
;-;
Her hand closes tightly around his for a brief second as she shrugs.]
Everyone always leaves. Or dies. I'm used to it by now. I can handle it.
[Mother, Father, Bethany, Carver, Isabela. All dead or gone. Everyone else would likely leave eventually.]
._.
He's said what he meant to, and she's heard him and given her answer. He can apologize again, which he doubts will help any, or he can kiss her again, and, perhaps redirect her thoughts to more pleasant matters.
It's not a difficult decision. If she meets his eyes, he'll hold her gaze for a moment or so. If not, he'll study her features for about that long anyway, before once again pressing his lips to hers, firmly, affectionately, and with clear intent.
They're going to need to find somewhere private very soon.]
