Where: The Mini Colony of the Runoff & the Moira.
What: The Moira stops to resupply at the closest planet and things get weird.

E V E N T L O G

Between the Perspectives "but in your future, the you i see is exactly the person you always wanted to be." Supplies have been loaded onto the ship, and the captains have encouraged all crew members to explore with the added notice that this will be the last planetary stop (hopefully) until the Moira reaches the Midway Hub. While seemingly uneventful on the Moira, the mini colony has been thrumming with adventure and has offered its visitors the opportunity to explore. To those who have indulged, some experienced great changes and others discovered enlightening information about the Ingress and the very ship some have called home for over a year. Later in the month, the Lamaria hold the closing ceremony of the Desiderium Festival (which was noted on the prior event log) . The burgundy and lime colors of the celebration slowly fade into black and vermillion, and small fires are now in place for visitors to throw their written notes into. Everyone who participates will be blessed by one of the Lamaria (they will visit the ship as well), and the MID will be able to only translate bits and pieces of what this blessing means. "Experienced loss — every story is different — and saying goodbye — not to know — understanding lies in the mingling of holding on and letting go." ☄ TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL For some, it might be due to a touch or a look. For others, it might not be any of those things at all, and something that just happens. Either way, shortly after the blessing occurs, you will find yourself changing. Your character’s body will slowly transform into the physical likeness of another being on the Mini Colony. The effects of this change may last as short as a day or as long as a week, but each come with their own stipulations—advantages and disadvantages. This is limited to one as the blessing itself only allows for “a little understanding”. Linked below are some of the possible transformations that your character can go through. Players can choose either one of the mod-supplied suggestions or choose the form of another already living on the Moira. ☄ THE FEAR MACHINE Paranoia writes the checks, we're dangling here like a marionette. Here we go again, the world is coming to an end. Engage the fear machine and collect the dividends. While the festival is beautiful, and some have found enlightenment and understanding here, there are those on the mini colony who don't enjoy the festivities. In a secluded room on the fifth floor in one of the buildings in the Science District, there is one such person who finds the religious festival to be a nuisance—one who should be stopped. Thinking that disrupting the blessings and celebration will somehow "get back" at the Lamaria for impeding their work (some of those who have transformed got into the building a few years ago and destroyed this person's property). Pettiness thrives, and they create something they dub The Fear Machine. Yet, while the science is sound, the technology itself is not. In the middle of the mini colony, the machine is set off, and bolts of transparent energy erupt and spark out around it, stretching as far as the docked ships. Since the technology wasn't created properly to sustain the energy, it doesn't spread out evenly like they had hoped. Some are hit. Some are not. Those who are will develop a sudden and overwhelming phobia that will last well into the beginning of November. The machine might be turned off and left behind, but the obsessive fear has only just begun. ( ooc; For questions, go here. Ten sounds good. Enough to stretch out but easy enough to carry. Though perhaps we ought to wait and see if there even is a pillow garden. Because the talk is enough to make me tired.

That probably would be the wisest course of action, yes.

[Hawke, you are so, so silly. What is he even going to do with you.

...Well. Go on a nice walk for a start, apparently. It's time to blow this popsicle stand!

And by "blow this popsicle stand" we mean "walk calmly but purposefully out of the med bay."]

[Hawke follows along cheerfully! But also gingerly. It seems strange to be able to do both at the same time but Hawke is a special woman. Her arm is bandaged and she sounds like she's on the verge of a cold but she doesn't mention it or even act like she's aware of it.]

So how do you feel? Aside from different which is a rather general word.

[Thane will always remember the first time he encountered Hawke with a cold. Even without an eidetic memory he would remember.

There's no way he's going to even mention that he thinks she sounds a little under the weather right now.]

Different is accurate, though.

[But okay, fine.]

I feel well. According to the medbay staff, my lungs are currently as healthy as it's possible for a pair of human lungs to be.

[Even if he does still sound like a lifetime chain-smoker.]

[Such a gentleman! She sniffs and adjusts her stride to be quicker so she's easily walking side by side with him.]

Must be nice. If I were in that medbay all by myself for so long I'd go sightly crazy. Start talking to my water cup and his best friend the wall. What a trio we would be.

And now you get to be out. Even better. I was starting to run out of stories to tell when I visited. I was fearing I might end up becoming another boring visitor.

You'll forgive my skepticism, but I somehow seriously doubt you could ever run out of stories, or present as "boring" in any sense of the word.

[He's never smiled as much around any one person as he's smiled around Hawke. He never knows what to expect from her, except that it will likely be nonsensical, silly, and amusing, which is something he greatly appreciates.]

This may surprise you to learn, but I am actually quite used to solitude. Between that and your good company, I expect I probably won't be making any overtures of friendship toward my water cup.

Dunno. You might be missing out on that water cup. Maybe its stories are even better.

[She catches him grinning and grins back. She has no idea that she's an unusual source of grins for him! Maybe his species just smiles a lot...]

I suppose you are right. I have an unusual aptitude towards shenanigans and mischief.

[psychadrellic]

Nevertheless, that is a risk I'm willing to take.

[Nope. He can't speak for other drell but Thane is normally one stoic sonnofagun. He's definitely not used to smiling so much.]

Speaking of, have you been up to any mischief lately?

[otiosity]

[She reaches up and scratches behind her ear.]

"Mischief" isn't the word I'd use...

...Oh? Have you progressed from mischief to actual trouble?

[His tone is still light, but there's a definite edge of concern there, too.]

I sort of ended up in a "survival" murder game thing. But I did survive in the end so I suppose I can count that as a victory. Literally.

[She doesn't regret she did it but damn this is getting hard to talk about.]

[psychadrellic]

[What the hell, Hawke? That sounds terrible! He's genuinely horrified on her behalf, but he knows better than to actually tell her that; she'll just bristle defensively and brush it off as no big deal.

...He can't entirely stop himself from reaching out however. He brings up a hand and briefly, gently brushes his fingertips against her shoulder before dropping it back to his side.]

I see. That certainly explains the shadows under your eyes.

[otiosity]

[For those brief moments she leans into his touch, almost unconsciously, but when he moves his fingers away she doesn't protest or even acknowledge it.]

It does. I mean you can't really sleep much in a survival game. Well you could, but it's probably considered poor strategy. [She sniffs.] I'm fine though. It was just warm in here and cold out here so I've caught a bit... bit of a [She sneezes despite attempts to suppress it. Thankfully into her arm like she has some sense of manners but it's still a funny sort of jerky movement that moves through her entire body.] Woof, Maker. Bit of a cold.

[Which is the least of her worries but it's easy to get everyone else concerned about.]

[Ah, yes, deflection. As a teenager she'd tried to pretend the cold didn't exist. Now that there's something far heavier weighing on her mind than inconvenient sneezes and sniffles, she's deliberately drawing attention to it to minimize the real problem.]

Suddenly your yearning for a room made entirely pillows makes far more sense.

[And Thane's a bro so of course he'll play along. But he sees what you're doing there, Hawke. 8|]

[Hawke wipes her nose on her sleeve and doesn't seem to be aware that Thane is onto her.]

It's just a cold. I'm not going to pass out and take a nap in the middle of our date. Though it's tempting.

[psychadrellic]

I would not be offended if you did. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a cold is to sleep it off.

[Incidentally the best thing she could do for exhaustion after surviving an emotionally and physically challenging murder game would also be to sleep. But he'll just continue to pretend like it's her cold that's the really big deal, since that's how she's trying to play it off.]

But, since you do not wish to, let's see if we can find something to do that may distract from poorly-timed colds.

But sleeping is so dull when there's so much to explore and people who are only temporarily human to spend time with.

[She sniffles and elbows him playfully.]

So distraction is ideal.

[psychadrellic]

I suppose I can't argue with that.

[He tenses very briefly when she elbows him, because he hadn't been expecting the contact, but relaxes almost immediately thereafter.]

Do you have something particular in mind? Or are we just going to make this up as we go along?

[otiosity]

Making it up as I go is sort of my thing. But I suppose if you're more of the planning sort I can live with having a plan. For once.

[psychadrellic]

I suppose this is the time where I must admit I don't actually have a lot of experience with situations like this.

[Is she really serious about this being a date? It's Hawke, so it's kind of difficult to tell...But it's not like a lot of date activities are much different from friend activities, so...]

I would like to visit the observation deck, if you're amenable. I've been missing the view.

[otiosity]

[Hawke takes pride in being a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Or maybe she's just kinda awkward despite all her charms.]

The view is different since we landed on the colony. Worth a look.

[psychadrellic]

[LBR here, it's definitely that second thing.]

[Aaaand he's back to that small little smile again.]

Once I've had my fill of the view, I'll look forward to seeing what you make up for our next stop.

It's your vacation in human skin. We have to make it the best.

[She tilts her head thoughtfully as they turn to head towards the observation deck.]

Is there something you've always wanted to do but couldn't? Maybe you can do it as a human.

[psychadrellic]

[Ah, so many things...have a normal life with his family...have a meaningful relationship with his son...maybe have a nice desert holiday one day...!

...He can probably share that last one without ruining the mood too badly.]

This may sound strange, but I've always wanted to visit a desert...Although I'm not sure that's something that can be accomplished at this time.

You have such little faith, Thane. Come on.

[She, almost unconsciously, slides her hand into his and gives it a tug as her eyes sparkle impishly. She has a plan. A good plan.

She leads him off the Moira and into the colony where they take they take a train (one that's smooth and glides and doesn't make her ill) to one of the outer wards. There they enter a massive building entitled "spa". Hawke gives them her unlimited credit account and then off they go, clothes are stripped off, towels are put on, and they enter a massive sauna that's been created to be just like a desert. There's sand, plants, places to sit, and even a cute oasis in the middle. It's large enough to hold almost 80 people.]

Not bad, hm?
