free to a good home
He curses as he stumbles, still not used to the lowered light levels, but his irritation seems to immediately bleed away when he actually spots what he'd collided with. His interest piques even more when he realizes the thing is still working. ]
Well, now. Aren't you the ugly duckling.
[ He crouches down, right in the middle of the goddamn hallway, and gives one of the keys on the keyboard an experimental tap. He is ostensibly talking to himself, to top it all off. ]
A victim of a recent purge, I take it.
Re: free to a good home
The screen refreshes at the tap, bringing up a plaintext interface with a header at the top. Judging by its contents, purge may be more literal than Tony meant.]
Domesticon recalibration depot #127: mainframe primary access panel. Do not utilize this terminal if you do not have override clearance.
System notice: Some internal data has been expunged.
System notice: basic system controls are [OFFLINE].
[There are selectable functions if he scrolls further down; a command prompt if he exits out of the main menu. And, of course, an AI mentally flinching in expectation. Can we not. The voice that comes from the speaker is male, toneless, and robotic, clearly some kind of automatic prompt.]
<Please return this terminal to an appropriate Domesticon facility.>

Yeeeeeeah, something tells me the nearest Domesticon facility is in another universe. You're gonna be waiting a while.
[ Which means he may as well mess with the thing, right? It's still functional, and probably retains some of its original data, despite an obvious purge. A sloppy one, if they were going for blank slate. He scrolls through the functions first, curiosity getting the best of him. ]

<Oops. I'm sorry. Please repeat.>
[Meanwhile, of course, Tony's scrolling. The menu list on hand is short and to the point:]
>Life Support and Temperature Control
>Electrical
>Personnel Data
>Testing Parameters
>Quit
[A beat, then.]
<This terminal and all content housed within are the property of Domesticon industries. Please provide a valid clearance code to proceed.>
[Funny how the screen doesn't... actually change.]
no subject
[ Funny, sure. He smirks to himself as he helps himself to the personnel data option - and look, his motives aren't even nefarious! It'll just tell him where to send this thing, if anywhere at all. The chances of finding a match in the directory are negligibly slim, he's no fool. ]
Let's see if any of your pals are around before we dump you off at the space lost-and-found.
no subject
If Tony wants to bother. None of them are a match to the Moira's residents, and it's not hard to guess this computer isn't from around here. Still, it's not an entirely boring skim.
Every single name on the long, long list is noted either Missing or Deceased.]
no subject
He gives the monitor a sympathetic pat, generally continuing to talk to it like he would a person. Weirdo. ]
Yup, that's what I thought. Sorry, buddy. You're not in Kansas anymore.
[ Tony sits back, giving the mainframe an assessing look. ]
The question of what to do with you pretty much comes down to whether there's an AI in there or not.
[ He knows from experience that the Ingress tends to pull in AIs, though it's not above grabbing people's random junk, either. But the discrepancy between audio cues and what actually displays on the screen makes him suspicious. ]
