"I want the world to be fragile. There is no place to hide a dark heart."
☄ Step 1: Negotiate & Infiltrate With this part of the plan enacted, a small number of those who have volunteered to attempt negotiations have been heard by the Caducans and have been temporarily “invited” to board their vessel. However, due to this highly stressful situation, a portion of the offensive team have been asked to accompany them in order to disable as much of the opposing ship and its crew to force them to evacuate onto the Moira. Regardless of time and what reparations are offered, negotiations ultimately fail. The Caducans want the debt of their planet to be paid by the people of the Moira with their very lives. While boarded with the Caducans, they will attempt to incapacitate the negotiation party through violent means, and it will be the responsibility of this particular team to attempt disengage the Caducans’ ship to prevent it from attacking the Moira. However, despite all efforts to sabotage their systems, the ship itself shuts its primary units into Lockdown Mode. Meanwhile, back on the Moira, the crew must work to secure the ship against the incoming assault by the Caducans after having left their ship via emergency escape units. This means that some of the defense team will have disabled the gunnery to make it look as if the Moira is defenseless and secure the rest of the area with those on the offense team. There is no place for mercy; the Caducans will board the ship through the Cargo Bay. They are not interested in granting it to the crew after all the losses they suffered at Caducus Primary. The only choice will be to fight for their lives (kill or be killed) or find a way to lure the Caducans into the Ingress room to send them to some unknown place where they will no longer be a threat. The Captains have given all members of the crew leave to use whatever means necessary to protect both themselves and the ship’s systems from the invaders. Failure is not an option. |
the fledgling | open!
[ When the warning comes out that negotiations have fallen through, Ava makes her way to the cargo bay to begin fighting. She's armed to the teeth with the weapons she's collected from home: a pistol with enough ammunition and a katana now strapped to her back. There's no time to prepare some kind of joint scare tactic to try to force them off the ship, but she's sure as hell going to try to do her best.
When they first break through, Ava hones in on a few and uses Dominate to force them to stand down. But there are too many, far too many to do this to, and it becomes clear that the Caducans are there to kill.
Ava tries to incapacitate first and it doesn't go so well. They have knives and guns, and it becomes nearly impossible to keep herself from getting harmed if she doesn't go straight to violence. It's only after other Moirans begin to be injured that she stops giving a shit and goes straight to murder. Kill or be killed. Protect at all costs. She's all survival mode now.
But then, one of the Caducans pulls out an explosive, and she's quick to pull up a blood shield for herself. To anyone nearby, she yells: ]
Take cover!!
Frenzy - open to two or three people;
[ She doesn't know how much time has passed since the initial invasion. Ava's backed off from the cargo bay to corner people in the hallways, using her katana if anyone gets too close, using her guns for long-range. A stray shot has gotten in her in the head, blood dripping from her temple and into her hair as she fights. One dead, then another, then another. The bodies pile up...but so do the injuries. Ava tries to stave off the urge to feed, tries desperately.
It doesn't work.
The change is...painful, like something violent is ripping at her chest. It's the anger, the primal instinct, which pushes through. The Beast. One moment, Ava's attempting to recover. The next, she's attacking with visceral, animalistic moves: she's clawing, scratching, punching, stabbing, biting. The Caducans are alarmed at best, completely caught off guard. Injuries don't seem to slow her and she jumps on one and tears into their throat, taking their blood so she can move on and attack the next, stab them in the stomach. Rinse, repeat. It's a scene of complete carnage in the hallways and Ava doesn't stop.
Get close and you might be next. ]
aftermath - feeding + 'small truths';
[ She comes away from the Frenzy feeling...wrong. Weak, tired, like all the adrenaline has gone from her. Ava's covered in blood and feeling as shitty as she looks, trying to find her way amongst the enemies that are still on board. So few are left, either dying or captured, many injured. She finds those that are dying and ends their lives - either by the sword or by her fangs, needing blood to heal her injuries and to calm herself after the aftermath.
The feeding is discreet. She uses her aura sense to ensure no Moiran watches her this time, her body shaking when she comes away from each feed. It doesn't make her feel much better. If anything, her head is buzzing with...thoughts, words. She hates it.
Once her mouth is cleaned up, she tries to find others, and manages to get to the Med Bay to help.
Except, now and then, she blurts things out she doesn't mean to. Little truths she knows somehow, perhaps about an injury, perhaps about a friend who has died. Maybe something about you. ]
Oh. Fuck. I didn't --
[ She tries to gloss over whatever she's said, going back to work finding bandages and ointment. ]
Forget it. Show me where you're hurt. I can patch you up until the doctors get to you.
[ Beware, Med Bay staff; you might get the full brunt of a slightly intrusive truth seer. ]
wildcard!!
[ Anything else you want to do! ]
[ ooc: anyone who wants to have small truths be said, either PM or roll with it and pick what you want to have said. I'm open to anything. Plot with me on

I— [ Kenobi gapes briefly as she tries to cover. ] Oh.
[ It is, indeed, a dead friend that Ava speaks of. That's the only way he can see it, anyway. Perhaps more than that, even, the suggestion is far too pointed to be about anyone beyond his old Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, the man most responsible for Obi-Wan's training and for who he is now as a Jedi and a man.
The ache he feels is far from distant — there isn't a day that Master Jinn doesn't cross his mind — but in the midst of a crisis, it's easy to hide. Or, it might be easy if Ava didn't already understand the generally smooth undercurrents that make up Obi-Wan Kenobi.
He smiles tightly and tips his head. ]
No, I've— I've only managed a few scratches. [ A few cuts from the glass, but nothing he can't manage. ] I'm actually here to help out.
[ Kenobi's not quite certain what he can do beyond basic first aid, but any little bit of help can be powerful in situations like these. ]
Are you all right, Ava? Something about you feels... different.

You're one of the lucky ones. A lot of people have died.
[ And a lot more are going to. She doesn't know where the Ingress will dump the Caducans and, frankly, she doesn't care to know. Let them rot for what they've done. They've murdered children, innocent people who had no role in the initial problem that happened on their planet.
She goes to grab a vial when he asks after her and she pauses, clearly debating the answer she wants to give. ]
It's... There's something in my head. I can't stop it. It just keeps...coming out.
[ Maybe that's what he's talking about. She hopes so; she doesn't want to tell him how she lost herself and has murdered far, far too many of the Caducans in her fury. ]
I didn't-- I didn't mean to talk about him.
no subject
It's all right.
[ Obi-Wan doesn't mind this truth, although he might find himself concerned with some of the other things she might pick up on. ]
How is it something found its way into your head, if I may ask?
[ He leans his head to catch her eye, staring at her as if studying her from the inside out. ]

Ava swallows as she turns to look at him, her eyes tired and her features drawn in fatigue and uncertainty. She does not pull away but knows he might. Her voice lowers, turns soft. ]
I don't know. I just...I know things. It started after the fight. After...After I had to feed.
[ And that's the terrifying prospect. She's taken blood from an alien species and no matter how human they look, she might have done something incredibly detrimental to herself. It can't be permanent, she realizes, but who knows if there isn't something worse in the blood she's taken? ]
I didn't want to. There were so many and-- And I was hurt. If I didn't, I was going to die, it was going to get so much worse. I had to.
no subject
And you fed on the Caducans.
[ Obi-Wan can see where that might an issue. As with any species, there's a chance that uncommon physiologies might interact poorly. For all any of them know, Ava's poisoned herself and they're none the wiser. Thankfully, it seems to be a mostly harmless side effect... so far. ]
That makes some sense considering what we know of them.
[ He rubs his chin. ]
What else have you seen? Anything that isn't related to one of the crew members?
waiting on mod response but I wanted to tag this
[ She lost control and even before then, if she didn't feed, the amount of injuries she took and the amount of power she was using... Ava would have been dead if not for feeding. But now she feels worse than anything, the Frenzy wrecking havoc on her muscles and her emotional state, the blood making her mind foggy and sharp all at once.
Ava goes to sit, looking quieter, more withdrawn than she's been for months now. ]
I could...tell when some of them were going to attack me. Split-second things. Everything else is a jumble. I hear things and then they're gone.
[ She rubs at one arm absently, though it's uninjured. Her clothes make it seem like she's been through hell even if there's no sign of fresh blood and no further injuries on her now. ]
<33
It sounds as if it should be temporary. [ And if it's not, there's more they can do to help, he thinks. ]
Has it been happening more often when you're around other people?
no subject
I hope so. I can hear thoughts as it is if I try but-- This is a little much. There's a reason stuff like this has made Malkavians crazy.
[ No person or vampire should have the ability to do this. ]
It's mostly around people. Things just... I can hear things. Know things. You look at someone and you suddenly know something, whether you wanted to or not. It's awful.
no subject
If you'll allow me, I'd like to try to help. We've dealt with things like this at the Jedi Temple for years now. I can't make any guarantees, but I'll do all that I can.
[ He already has something in mind, although it might require Anakin's help. ]
no subject
[ That's something that's happened in his world? Ava looks at him quizzically, and eventually, she nods. ]
I've read minds before after...after I became this. But I had to choose to do it. This is too much, just poking around in my head without warning. If you know something that might help, even if it's a long shot, I'll try it.
no subject
[ It won't take Obi-Wan long at all to prepare, and with just the slightest manipulation of the Force, and him standing guard (so to speak), he thinks he can give her some relief, even if it's only temporary. ]
no subject
I can't just... I'm not a doctor but they might need me.
[ And being closer to where the blood bags are is...also a comfort, as much as she hates to say it. To know she can ensure she doesn't hurt someone else is as much a relief as anything else. What he's offering, however, might also be paramount to keeping in check.
A soft breath escapes her, even if she has no need to breathe. ]
Where will you be? I can come find you when I'm done here, whenever that is.
[ It's also just a gentle wish to know where he'll be and if he'll be all right too, a thoughtful hum like a heartbeat. I'm sorry, I want to be here for you too. ]
no subject
[ She knows where to find him, he thinks. Even if she isn't given any leads, he suspects Ava knows him well enough to be able to track him down pretty easily. It's whether she will or not that mostly concerns him. For people like them, it's always so much harder to take care of themselves, particularly when there are others in need. ]
Come see me soon, Ava. I want to help you, too.
[ Just in case there was any doubt in her mind, he reminds her of his dedication to her. They aren't just roommates, but friends. Practically family by now, right? ]
no subject
No one's going to kick you out if you're helping. With how many people who have died...
[ Anyone lending support is welcome. Sure, the doctors won't be too happy if there's people crowding up the medbay if there are people that need more dire help, but if Obi-Wan is just trying to bandage people up the way Ava is, she doesn't think anyone would keep him out, necessarily. Not until everything dies down.
After a moment, she nods again. ]
I know. I promise I'll find you.
[ She knows some of Obi-Wan's haunting grounds if he isn't in his room. She hopes he knows that she'll find him, one way or another. ]
no subject
I'll wish you the best in the meantime.
[ And then he tips his head to her and disappears off to another task. ]
offense;
Whatever the magic shield thing is made of, it does the trick—the explosive goes off, and everyone behind it is fine. The Caducan responsible for it is probably equally as fine, so Nate has his gun up and in firing position.]
Drop it!
[He calls to Ava, ready to take his shot the instant the shield goes down. Nate doesn't want to kill these people, but he wants to not be killed a whole lot more.]
offense
But so it goes.]
Q, on me!
[The metal greyhound barks loudly, his voice echoing throughout. He even growls as he continues to throw his voice around.
The thief moves with astounding speed and deftness. Her left arm, metallic and sinister in the light, slams mercilessly into Caducan faces and arms. Q is right in the thick of it, tearing out bloody chunks and pawing angrily at those who dare to aim at Isha.]
