"I want the world to be fragile. There is no place to hide a dark heart."
☄ Step 1: Negotiate & Infiltrate With this part of the plan enacted, a small number of those who have volunteered to attempt negotiations have been heard by the Caducans and have been temporarily “invited” to board their vessel. However, due to this highly stressful situation, a portion of the offensive team have been asked to accompany them in order to disable as much of the opposing ship and its crew to force them to evacuate onto the Moira. Regardless of time and what reparations are offered, negotiations ultimately fail. The Caducans want the debt of their planet to be paid by the people of the Moira with their very lives. While boarded with the Caducans, they will attempt to incapacitate the negotiation party through violent means, and it will be the responsibility of this particular team to attempt disengage the Caducans’ ship to prevent it from attacking the Moira. However, despite all efforts to sabotage their systems, the ship itself shuts its primary units into Lockdown Mode. Meanwhile, back on the Moira, the crew must work to secure the ship against the incoming assault by the Caducans after having left their ship via emergency escape units. This means that some of the defense team will have disabled the gunnery to make it look as if the Moira is defenseless and secure the rest of the area with those on the offense team. There is no place for mercy; the Caducans will board the ship through the Cargo Bay. They are not interested in granting it to the crew after all the losses they suffered at Caducus Primary. The only choice will be to fight for their lives (kill or be killed) or find a way to lure the Caducans into the Ingress room to send them to some unknown place where they will no longer be a threat. The Captains have given all members of the crew leave to use whatever means necessary to protect both themselves and the ship’s systems from the invaders. Failure is not an option. |
Aboard the Caducean Ship - I hope this is okay!!
However, that didn't mean that when shit went sideways (why did it always go sideways) that he wasn't prepared to execute mission parameters. Which meant that at the moment Loki walked up the doctor was in the midst of dispatching a Caducian as a result of some vigorous hand to hand combat.
He waited to drop the body before responding to Loki's question. ]
I want to make one last attempt to see if we can get to the engines and disable them.
[ What do you mean impenetrable lockdown mode???
In all honesty, though he'd insist on being one of the last to leave, the doctor was squishy, medical personnel, stubborn and a perfect candidate for being better off back on the Moira. Whether he wanted to believe that or not. ]

I'm not convinced it will do much. Are you sure?
[He's really not sure doctors should be wasting their time here if they're more useful healing, but he's also not convinced this particular doctor is going to go easily if he has what he thinks is a plan of action. Well, they can wait a few minutes, at least, and see how far they get. It's always easier to send the unwilling back when they don't expect it, after all.]

Even if Loki was now voicing the question the doctor didn't want to consider too closely. It was probably pretty clear from the telling pause and the look on Adrien's face that he was not at all sure. ]
There's been some time and damage. [ From their group running around if nothing else. ] If there is even a chance that a locking mechanism has failed, I'll take it.
[ It was grasping at straws and his gut told him as much but Adrien wasn't ready to admit defeat. This whole situation appeared to be devolving into an enormous failure, which was a bitter pill to swallow.
As he began to move, he glanced over his shoulder and asked. ]
You haven't had any luck with your ... [ again he had to pause, before he made ridiculous gestures with his hands. He was probably miming something like 'phasing, teleporting, magic-ness'? ]

I suppose it does no harm to look, at least.
[Which is untrue, Loki can think of a lot of ways it could and times it has. Curiosity has always been a problem with him, though, and it can't get much worse than it is now, at least.
He watches the gestures with amusement, head slightly tilted, waiting for them to end before he answers.]
Plenty of luck. But as we're all scattered, hunting people down is proving time-consuming and a little exhausting. It would have been easier to move all of you in a group than so many of you individually. As it is, I'm having to leave most people to the escape vessels.

[ He's guessing the answer is 'no' but he doesn't want to assume. As he spoke, Adrien started to move along the path he'd been on when he'd come across Loki. Down the hallway in the direction of the engine room.
He moved carefully, keeping close to the wall and leading with the gun in his hand. Perhaps a ridiculous precaution with Loki around, but it was obviously ingrained training at work. ]

[He hasn't seen the Caducean ship before, can't tell what he'd be jumping into the middle of. It could be fine, or it could be some kind of machinery, or some kind of unexpected drop, or just a room full of Caduceans.
Loki doesn't really seem to move much differently from usual- but all the same, he makes no sound, even his armour uncannily silent. And he's hard to focus on, somehow, slightly blurry. It's no invisibility, and he misses his coat so much right now, but it's a small and easy spell and it does make life easier.]

At this point in the entire cluster fuck, a little bit of luck seemed to tip their way and there were no encounters that required a violent response. Perhaps a bit of quiet, a little patience but, for the time being at least, no violence.
Eventually Adrien's trajectory brought them up to the hallway what lead to the engines. Here their luck seemed to run out as the hallway was still guarded. ]
Fuck.
[ The doctor whispered softly, counting the number of guards and then quietly popping the clip out of the gun in his hand. ] Fuck!
[ There was a distinct imbalance between bullets and guards. Care to guess which there were more of? ]
