"I want the world to be fragile. There is no place to hide a dark heart."
☄ Step 1: Negotiate & Infiltrate With this part of the plan enacted, a small number of those who have volunteered to attempt negotiations have been heard by the Caducans and have been temporarily “invited” to board their vessel. However, due to this highly stressful situation, a portion of the offensive team have been asked to accompany them in order to disable as much of the opposing ship and its crew to force them to evacuate onto the Moira. Regardless of time and what reparations are offered, negotiations ultimately fail. The Caducans want the debt of their planet to be paid by the people of the Moira with their very lives. While boarded with the Caducans, they will attempt to incapacitate the negotiation party through violent means, and it will be the responsibility of this particular team to attempt disengage the Caducans’ ship to prevent it from attacking the Moira. However, despite all efforts to sabotage their systems, the ship itself shuts its primary units into Lockdown Mode. Meanwhile, back on the Moira, the crew must work to secure the ship against the incoming assault by the Caducans after having left their ship via emergency escape units. This means that some of the defense team will have disabled the gunnery to make it look as if the Moira is defenseless and secure the rest of the area with those on the offense team. There is no place for mercy; the Caducans will board the ship through the Cargo Bay. They are not interested in granting it to the crew after all the losses they suffered at Caducus Primary. The only choice will be to fight for their lives (kill or be killed) or find a way to lure the Caducans into the Ingress room to send them to some unknown place where they will no longer be a threat. The Captains have given all members of the crew leave to use whatever means necessary to protect both themselves and the ship’s systems from the invaders. Failure is not an option. |

Nothing about this sat right with him.
Luckily, he'd know his brother's pasta anywhere.]
Hey, Pap--[He's cut off with a quick slip, though Sans gathers his balance quickly. It was impossible to live in Snowdin for as long as they had without getting pretty good at ice sliding. He continued moving in one direction, until eventually bumping gently against his little brother's chest plate.
... He was wearing his battle body. Sans felt a little sick over that implication.]
Did you just do all this?
no subject
He stepped back, giving Sans room to step off the ice and onto steady ground.]
Not 'just'! I've been freezing the floor and tending to my pasta since the commander gave the word! It's no Gauntlet, but it's not bad at all for an afternoon's work!
no subject
... He does wind up saying that one aloud. Too perfect to resist.]
Seriously, this is really impressive, bro. [Puns aside.] Run me through it, okay?
[Explaining his cleverness was always Pap's favorite part, after all.]
no subject
Of course! But then you should be on your way, I don't want you getting too proud of me and giving away the surprise! You see...
[He indicates the other end of the hall, where Sans had come in from.]
The enemy will enter through there, and be instantly accosted with both icy ground and the first two plates of my famous spaghetti! I believe that alone will be enough to entice them, and they'll realize we're far more friendly and pleasant to be around when we're alive. But worry not! As you can see, I planted spaghettis around here and there, so they have plenty of chances to reconsider before they reach me!
And in the meantime, they'll be stumbling on ice they hardly know how to navigate. It's perfect!
no subject
It was great. And Sans was proud. But the nagging concern didn't leave him -- he remembered the sounds of negotiations falling through. Of ambush.]
That's really cool. [He says, more detached than he means to be, worry spilling over into his voice. Carefully, he turns towards his brother.] But I need t'talk to you, alright?
no subject
[Even though he's clearly antsy and excited and ready to get his plan underway, he stops and gives Sans a big smile. Like he's not nervous in the slightest.]
What is it?
no subject
C'mon, let's take a break. [He nods over to the far wall, slumping against it.] You worked hard, you earned it. Take a load off and I'll tell ya.
no subject
[But Sans is being serious about something again, he can tell. A compromise might be in order.]
I know! You tell me your plan, and in the meantime, I'll work on my muscles!
[THIS IS A GREAT PLAN. He's only done about 20 pushups today, after all. He gets down on the floor near Sans and gets to it while waiting for him to speak.]
no subject
Part of him wishes Pap would stay still for at least a moment, but it's a fleeting feeling. Papyrus having a good time was enough of a boon to his own unease that Sans felt a little closer to himself again.]
It looks like those Caducan guys are gonna be boarding us. Probably pretty soon. [He stops, thinking a few points ahead on what he's about to say.] They seem pretty mean.
no subject
Well, they're very upset! Their whole world and all of their stuff is gone!
[...14, 15, 16...]
We know how they feel, don't we?
[There's no doubt about it: he's sympathetic. And likely assumes he'll be able to talk to them.]
no subject
[Something in Sans coils tight around a nonexistent gut. They do know. Intimately.]
N' that's why I'm telling you this. You built this awesome trap and I bet that'll win over a few of 'em, but it might not be enough.
This... isn't the day to be the hero. There'll be other days for that, okay?
no subject
[But he knows what Sans is getting at, and he sighs a little before sitting up. 50 total pushups in one day is kinda low for him, but he's pretty sure he'll be busy enough later to make up for it.]
Do you think more spaghetti would help?
no subject
[Sans rubs at his skull. He's terrible at this and he knows it. The brothers may have turned over a new and highly uncomfortable leaf recently -- talking. And not just the kind of talking they already engaged in for large swaths of any given day, but real talking. Saying what mattered, when it still mattered.
But hell if it wasn't hard.]
I'm saying I don't think we should tangle with these guys, period.
no subject
[All the rumblings he'd heard were about how negotiations had broken down, how upset these aliens were. He still hoped to be able to calm their anger, of course, but if they were that upset...]
no subject
[Whether they mean the same thing about choice, or what that choice is, isn't abundantly clear.]
That's why I'm gonna be crystal clear, Pap. [It's a strange dynamic between them, one neither is fully used to yet. Being upfront. Being honest.] They're not friends. I'm pretty sure they mean to kill us, no matter what we do.
