"Open up, and let them in."

He also spares a glance toward the canteen, trying not to look too humiliated. Before he mentions anything about not knowing what 'cryo' is, the little blue mutant reaches for the container in his coat pocket, looks it over, then offers it out to Peter. "Here," he murmurs, "I spilled yours, so you can take mine. I just ... don't want to see you get sick."
And if Peter doesn't take it, he'll set it next to him because it's only fair. "Frozen? Is that what 'cryo' is?"

He stares at the canteen being offered. He should say no. It’s the polite thing to do. He shouldn’t be stealing from a child, shouldn’t be doing something he knew was only causing other people grief. “Thanks,” he muttered.
He offered his empty one in return, a way to ease the slight tug of guilt. Let Kurt go back and refill at his own leisure. Peter could stay here with this and continue to stew.
“Basically? You’d have to ask the doctors or scientists or whatever for a better explanation. But it’s were they stick your body when you’re, I don’t know, in a coma? Asleep? Sometimes people go in cryo and just come out different.” He shrugs. “It’s weird shit, man.”

Kurt nods at first, knowing that giving over his container of water completely defeats his earlier purpose, though he's already sure that even if he continuously tries to keep Peter from consuming the water, it's either going to make it worse or the older mutant will just continue to do it, regardless of him being around to stop it.
"You are welcome," he finally gets out, blinking then reaching to take the empty canteen Peter is offering. He shifts it from one hand to the opposite, tucks it into his pocket as a reminder to refill it later.
His lips downturn into a frown at that explanation, the spade of his tail slithering around to hover near the side of his right arm. "So, what I am understanding of this is that I do not want to end up in cryogenic sleep ever."

People left, the ones left behind mourned their absence. Things moved on. He'd seen plenty come and go on his near year aboard the ship. There were many he knew wanted to never see home again.
"You don't, but again. No one has control over it. Sometimes you just end up there. And if you get bad enough hurt, well, guess where you might get stuck until the doctors can sort you out?" He shrugs. "We were kind of subject to the universe's whims around here."
no subject
Kurt visibly droops though, sinking down into the overly large coat he has wrapped around his shoulders. To think that people could be taken against their will from something they were already adapted to ... He shivers, regardless of the fact that he's not exactly cold.
"We will all just have to be careful and make sure that no one gets badly injured." The only practical decision, obviously. "Things are different now with no ship, aren't they?"
no subject
"Don't let yourself worry to much about it. You can't spend all your time afraid something is going to happen. Whether it stays the same here or not." He suspects it will. Or will get worse. Maybe without the Ingress on the ship death will find permanency. Maybe when people fall into unconsciousness there will be no way to revive them. But that's not something anyone should dwell on.
no subject
"It is hard to not worry, but I will do my best. We cannot constantly walk on eggshells and hope that nothing bad will happen." Because things like that couldn't be stopped; they could try and try to do everything to prevent terrible things from happening, yet something would come along and destroy that daydream.
no subject
"That's the ticket. Just, try not to think about it. After a while it'll be second nature." Peter grimaces, shrugs. "Look, I'm painting a grim picture. It's not always so bad. Or at least the ship wasn't always so bad."
no subject
Kurt frowns at the 'don't worry about it' comment, knowing full well that when people usually say that, it means the exact opposite, but he'll take the advice to heart. "Most of the people from the ship are here, right? At least we still have our friends." The ones he knows or vice-versa.
