"Open up, and let them in."

Her expression flattens out in an attempt to hide her contempt, to hide how uncomfortable thinking about the Dracs makes her.
"The bad guys, BLI, they got these masks. If they get it on you, that's it. It changes you. You're just not you anymore. You do whatever they want, you'd kill your own brother if they said to. And even if someone takes it off, you're still gone." She looks to the ground, grits her teeth. "I dunno what's in 'em to make it happen. Maybe it's some kinda sound maybe it's a whatever a zombie is."
no subject
He takes a moment to tap ash from his cigarette, watches it flicker and fall around them.
Clearly this isn't a very fun subject to talk about. His own mouth tightens at her choice of words there-- well, it isn't as if she knew or anything. It's harmless, those words.
"What about their behavior after the masks come off. They crazy or do they just...die?"
no subject
"Crazy. Crazy enough to follow BLI's orders. They're already dead, soon as that mask goes on the already lost their soul. Killin' after you take it off is just takin' out a shell. Drac's are just movin' bodies."
She says it like someone who needs to believe it. Draculoids weren't real people, that much had to be true. Otherwise she'd have to think about how many turned runners she'd watched her boys gun down in the name of keeping her alive.
no subject
So this-- group has made something like that, mind control. Not the craziest thing he's ever heard.
"Well...you do what you gotta to stay alive. S'all that matters sometimes," is what he says, just as softly as the look in his eye as he, too, watches the smoke.
no subject
She can't help but make a face, plucking moodily at lose strings of her pant leg. She'd stayed alive just fine and sometimes the way she'd managed it felt like the problem. "I ain't stopped runnin' yet. Ain't got no aim to either." She sighs. "I know it matters."
no subject
He thinks of lectures just like this murmured on rooftops and sighs.

"Don't really have to worry 'bout it as long as we're here."

"A vacation with a monster nibbling on our asses...nothing more relaxing."

"Count my blessings, right. Last person I heard that from was a blind lolicon priest. That didn't work then, either."

"Witch? You don't mean Glenda the good witch do you."
no subject
no subject
"Wheeeeeeeeere-- what. The hell does any of that mean? Glenda like, the Wizard of Oz!"
Let's start there that sounds simple.
no subject
And now she's just confused.
"I don't know how to make it any more crystal. I thought you were talkin' about the Witch. Aren't ya? Do you even know what I'm talkin' about?"
no subject
He gives her a blank look.
"Not a clue. Who's this witch?"
no subject
She really shouldn't be surprised anyone here isn't aware about the Witch; she'd ran into that months ago when trying to explain the mailbox to friends. It doesn't stop her from looking disappointed.
"The Phoenix Witch. She's the one who takes ya on after death. She takes care of the ghosts," she says. "Some people have told me she's kinda like a reaper? Though I don't know what that is."
no subject
"The first stories we had were by mouth, through generations. Can't believe it hasn't survived." It's...he can't decide if its sad or not. Because the flying monkeys were freaky.
"Sounds better than some skeletal asshole."
no subject
She grimaces when he mentions skeletons. "Anythin' is better than a skeletal asshole. You'd shit yourself seein' some bones comin' after your ghost."
no subject
Ah, so she does fear something! Grinning, he curls those skinny fingers of his as if they were bone.
"Oooooh, scared of a lil calcium enhanced bone mass?"
no subject
She would like to pretend she never once ran from Sans when he was around. Or yelled at him. Or threw things. It was a lie she'd take to the grave.
