[ Nine. He knows he shouldn't be surprised. He'd long-since taken up arms by nine, as had so many others, and in the wake of the Republic's collapse, the volatile nature of their galaxy during Leia's youth must have dictated some preparation (however barbaric). But to imagine it and see it realized are two utterly different things. ]
Would you care for some friendly competition? I'm not much for shooting, but I do know my way around a blaster.

[Leia gestures--with a hand, not a blaster! what good blaster safety!--at a row of them along the wall. Hers doesn't come from that collection, of course; she found it and a nerf-leather holster in the room where she woke up, and it makes a decent accessory to her too-large dress.]
Do you practice much?
no subject
[ He does, in fact, find little joy in practicing his markmanship. Unlike a lightsaber, a blaster feels... inelegant, almost unbecoming in comparison. Nevertheless, he knows what he prefers in pistols, so he picks one with a decent heft to it and then lines up next to Leia, facing the targets. ]
I'll follow your lead, shot-for-shot, until one of us misses the target.
no subject
[But the man looks old enough to be someone's weapons master, so maybe he's old enough that he doesn't have to practice very often anymore. It doesn't sound quite right to her, but she hasn't done this long. Who knows?
Anyway, she nods in agreement to his proposal and lines up her first shot. The center of a target, three times for good measure.]
Your turn.
no subject
I would argue that a firm balance is required.
[ He takes the shot, and finding he's hit the mark, sends two more in careful succession after it. ]
But I imagine your weapons master wasn't only thinking of weapons practice with that advice in mind.
no subject
[Leia watches him shoot--her weapons master also says that you can learn from other people if you pay attention--and grins when he makes the shot. Her next one is at the very edge of one target.]
If you don't, you won't get better.
no subject
[ This second shot is a little more difficult, providing Obi-Wan with a challenge that has him hesitating a bit longer than might strictly be necessary. But he's not timed, and even if he does miss, it's not life or death, but Kenobi doesn't particularly want to mess up so early on.
His second shot is just left of hers and he glances in Leia's direction for an assessment. ]
Close enough? Or have a lost already?
no subject
[It's said after a few moments of looking at it and debating. As satisfying as it might be to win, she doesn't think the man was far enough off to matter.]
You can go first this time, if you want.
[And then, after a pause:]
My name's Leia.
no subject
My name's Obi-Wan.
[ And take this opportunity, he does, aiming for a target a little higher than the rest. He tags it with a single shot and then moves to one below it, hitting that one as well. ]
And I believe you're up.
no subject
[She's concealing her excitement behind a wide-eyed inquiry--this could be a different Obi-Wan, maybe. It's a big galaxy. Couldn't there be others?
(But she has a feeling. Maybe this one is Father's old friend, hero of the Clone Wars and one of the greatest Jedi who ever lived. Anyone who used a lightsaber wouldn't feel the need to do target practice with a blaster.)]
I'm Leia. It's a pleasure to meet you.
[She should curtsy, according to Madame Vesta, but Madame Vesta isn't here, and she'd rather take her shots. They're close: one is bang-on, and the other is a little bit off to one side.]
no subject
And you, Leia.
[ Gesturing to her to go ahead, he wits to see where she'll shoot next. He's expecting things to get more challenging from here on out. ]
I must admit, I have you at something of a disadvantage; I've known your father for a great many years, as you may have guessed.
Did you practice with him like this?
no subject
[Can I see it? She's never seen one, before, and as much as she likes their contest, the possibility of a lightsaber puts it out of her mind.]
no subject
I am still a Jedi, yes. And I do have my lightsaber, although it isn't much help for target practice.
[ He holds aside his robe to show off the weapon clipped to his belt. ]
