seeing as andyr'd found himself the only one in the training room for the last hour or so, he'd taken liberties with the music selection, and it'll either be spanish pop, something considered 'classical' by 3444 standards, or something aggressively inappropriate. it's roulette where everything is a bullet of unfortunate moments for venom. which about matches the near face-plant he pulls upon popping up in the middle of the treadmill Andyr'd left running. he's doing sprints in a circuit, okay? thankfully, he wasn't on that part of the circuit when Venom popped in.
Instead, he was a few yards away at a punching bag, blinking wide-eyed, with a half formed smile on his lips, and a laugh stuck in his throat. Also, looking about six and a half years younger than he was the last time Ahab saw him. If he manages to catch a glimpse of his back, he'll likely noticed the ports aren't there anymore either. But for the moment, there's just a beat of quiet. ]
I'm waiting for the 'slipping on a banana' routine to go down now.

It takes a good few seconds for Venom to reorient himself, for his legs to find a rhythm against the grueling whirr of the treadmill. That occupies most of his attention for half a minute, muscles straining against the sudden onslaught of movement, but as the machine winds down (bionic furiously pounding at the touchpad), he gathers enough of himself to tip his chin over Andyr's way, really take in the face of the young man he's talking to.
Apparently, the young man's gotten even younger. Figures. ]
Try me. [ Is what he manages, slightly out of breath as he slows to a fastwalk. Listen, kiddo, if you try to banana him right now you bet your ass he will CQC the hell out of you, good dad or not. ]

Watching Venom madly tap at the controls, Andyr’s brows raise higher, a stuttered laugh coming from him, before he paces forward, and reaches out in front of the man for the emergency stop cord, giving it a quick yank to detach the key from the machine. There you go, bro. Chill yourself.
And now, this old dude’s picking a fight, and Andyr should be trying harder not to grin like a little imp, but he’s really not. ]
You sure? Wanna take a breather first? [ teasing, but in good nature. ] Besides, I’m fresh outta banana peels right now anyway.

But that aside, once he winds down and his feet reclaim the knowledge of gravity and how to be inert, his nerves also come down from 'combat mode' to 'mildly at ease'. His body kicks into 'fight' as often as it does 'flight', so he has to remind himself that this isn't some military base in Afghanistan where people are after his head.
Just a cocky teenager looking to tease him, apparently. Venom's still trying to piece together how exactly Andyr got younger, so he's going to take this one step at a time. ]
...That's a relief. [ Dryly, and a bit facetiously, maybe. But it's well-meant on his end, too, as he braces his hands on either side of the treadmill and hops off.
And squints upwards at the ceiling at this music. Where is it coming from, and why is it so loud. ] —You always give your ears a workout while you train?

As for the music, Andyr’s head tips upwards, looking at the general air the music is filling up, and lets out a sharp laugh. ]
When no one’s standing between me and the controls? [ because they do that back home, for this exact reason. ] Yeah I do.
[ No one can stop him and his terrible music selection, fite him, Venom. Pacing, he makes his way back to that punching bag he’d been at, slinging a punch or two out casually, distracted. Someone’s here now, and there’s that kneejerk reaction to conceal - don’t hit too hard, don’t run too fast, look hurt when something hits you. It’s just reflex now. Besides, the punching bag could use a rest from him and his normal strength. ]
Anyway, it’s boring when it’s quiet. Creeps me out too.

I can appreciate that.
[ Long rides on his chopper always went a bit faster when he poured over worn cassette tapes, occasionally playing the same 5 selection of songs over and over until the music became ambient and the lyrics become white noise. Almost like self-hypnosis. Maybe he craved a bit of that nothingness.
Venom makes a vague gesture at his uniform, at his general hip area. The cassette player that came along as an ensemble set with his sneaking suit is strapped at his side, because this literal grandpa still carries around a 1980s version of a Walkman.
Embarrassing. ] Certain music can improve your training rhythm.

Holy crap, that's ancient. [ Sorry, we're doing this whole YOU'RE OLD thing again, broski.
He's always been a curious thing, young or older, and he at least has the social graces to ask, now, rather than just take. ]
So what d'you got? Can I listen?
no subject
Ancient, but functional.
[ 'Be careful with it' goes unspoken, as he hands the device and the headphones over to Andyr. The cassette inside is the one he came here with, and the song is well-worn by now: Midge Ure's version of 'The Man Who Sold The World.' ]

a bit of time passes, about a minute worth of andyr listening to the song, before he speaks him. ]
It's sad. [ the song is. and yet, weirdly mesmerizing. ]
no subject
The assessment prompts a vague expression that he can't quite decipher, even if he's the one making it. Is it melancholy? Dryly amused at his own expense? Knowing?
Sometimes he forgets how to be human, so he covers for it by crooking a finger and asking to have the item returned to him. No point in making Andyr upset. ]
David Bowie sang the original. [ No comment on it being 'sad'. ] Heard of him?
no subject
David Bowie… [ Schools had given a lot of history, but musical sensations weren’t a big part of them. Something more out of pop culture, and Andyr was perhaps too young before Hapsburg to really dig into much of it. ] Sounds familiar. Don’t really remember why.
[ at the request to have it back, there’s a mild frown, but he takes the headphones off and hands them over regardless. ]
Didn’t say I didn’t like it.
no subject
The song keeps him focused, but it also keeps him hollowed. He's not sure what to say about the calm that follows it. "Didn't say I didn't like it" is a good way for him to sum up his feelings, also. ]
...This one wouldn't be one to train to. [ His voice comes a bit clipped, and he has to reel himself back to normalcy, increments at a time. ] I'll find something else for you, sometime.
