"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

Frisk's mouth tugs down into a faint frown, but they nod in turn. They know they can take care of themself, but adults always get a little funny about a kid in danger.

Unless you're Undyne, but Undyne is...special.

"Okay. But you gotta promise you won't kill anyone. You gotta have MERCY." For all the word isn't said loudly, there's a significant weight behind it none-the-less.
rraidergirl: (The world turned upside down)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-09 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
She hesitates, hearing the weight in the word. She doesn't know how to tell Frisk that if they get caught, there won't be any mercy. She nods instead.

"All right." It's not a lie. She hasn't killed anyone yet and she's sticking with that. "Let's go."

Rosethorn, I'm sorry to say, laughs at Yata's dismay, a low chuckle that takes her by surprise. On the other hand, she's beginning to think that having the boy for a roommate will be punishment enough for her laughter. He's awfully high strung, and the only boy she's had to share space with in years is Briar, who has the advantage of being hers in every way but blood.

"Relax, it's not as if we bite." Much. "Change your clothes in the bathroom and there's nothing to worry about. And stay on your own side of the room at night. It sometimes snows on the other side."

"Yeah, I can shoot. But this won't take down any vehicles, so I'll I'll have to get a look at the driver's face."

And having to go in with no-kill orders was hard, but also something he worked with frequently. He hadn't done missions on his own for a while, but getting back into the groove was easier than he expected.

"The name's Kaz." He could have introduced himself as 'Miller' but didn't think about it. "You?"
hyperkinesia: (And you do?)

I'm not really sure whether they do that on purpose. The way they pick some of us seems random at best. But yes, it does tend to make things a little complicated. [ Like now. Peter probably doesn't even know Bruce is mad at Wanda, or why. And honestly, it might be for the best that he keeps it to himself. ]

I do, yes. I know her now. [ He nods. ] We've both been here for some months now, and we're... kind of part of the same team.

New.

[ Alice breathes out, at once seeming to sag. ]

Sorry — I'm the, well. I'm a teacher. One of the new ones. I've been trying to see what people are already reading. [ She finally looks Lara in the eyes. They're wary, but there's plain curiousity beneath it all. ] Checking the library records only does so much. Is this, ah —

[ Tentatively, as though she already expects the answer. ]

This is your room, isn't it.

[ Bruce can't help a fond and amused little smile at how happy and proud Eggsy sounds about the whole thing. ]

That's good. Both that you helped, and that no one got hurt.

[ He leans down to check the scraped knee, opening a jar of the medi-gel from nearby and carefully applying it over the wounded area. In a matter of seconds, the injury starts to close up, skin healing completely. ]

Well, aside from you, apparently. Even if you're far from the worst I've seen coming in here.
hyperkinesia: (To become better.)

I... didn't even see a typo.

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-09 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... okay. Right. ]

Well, that's-- nice, I think. Always a pleasure to meet a fan.

[ Except he feels awkward as hell, but at least the guy knows him from his work, not his ability to turn into a giant green rage monster. That's what it looks like so far.

He's about to ask the guy for his name when he speaks again, and instead he looks down at the Petri dish, adjusting the lid and the tube. ]

I didn't see, I-- [ There's another twitch, and the ant - Nash - starts moving his legs, taking a couple of weak steps. ] Oh, there we go. Guess he did, yes.
hyperkinesia: (So he's building another portal.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-09 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, to be fair I was the one to join you on your little venture, you didn't exactly drag me in there. [ Although he is glad that he did. God knows what might've happened to Lara otherwise. ] But yes. We'll call it even.

[ He glances at her injuries, tipping his head in a faint nod. ] You look like you should be resting.
hyperkinesia: (Run with it?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-09 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He grins lopsidedly, looking briefly amused. "Not exactly, but-- more or less. People can make families because they want to procreate, but they can also make families even when they can't or don't want to. There doesn't necessarily have to be a connection by blood or marriage either, and for instance, a human can still have children even if they're not their biological offspring. We call it adopting. That's more or less what you do with animals too. You adopt them."

He gestures at her kitties. "It's what you did with these two little guys. It's kind of like you're their mother, now."

[Oh, good. She didn't want someone snoring away above her.]

Fine, but the shelves stay shared. [She gestures at the bookshelves built into the sides of the couch. Look, she likes reading, okay.]

You got your job and kitchen - or mess [an afterthought only because she's in the kitchen] - assignments yet, Sanchez? ["Do I have to put up with you at work as well as in 'my' space?"]
petridish: (the same DNA as you)

[personal profile] petridish 2016-02-09 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Before she can think, What would Shepard do? she chuckles. The humans should have been smart enough to get help. The aliens deserve it.]

Nice. [She gives her an appreciative smirk.] Wish I could help, but I've only got about a dozen thermal clips. [Also, she has a shotgun. That she's not trained for.] Besides, I'm trying to figure out how to keep the bastards off the MIDs.
whatawaste: (Seductive)

Maya nodded slightly. "Mero fifteen," she said. "I haven't really checked it out yet." Mostly out of fear. She was a little bit afraid of what she might see. Say whatever else you wanted to say about her profession, but at least she'd always had her own room. True, she'd usually snuck Yuri in at night, after all of her customers were gone but...

No. No, it was too hard thinking about Yuri right now.

She tried to force him out of her mind with another drag of rankweed.

"Are you going to tell me your name, or should I just make one up for you?" she asked, snapping into business mode. "I should warn you, I can be very creative."

[ It's almost as if he isn't even sure who this dwarf is standing right in front of him. "Initiative and desire for personal growth" ....???

?!?!

That's really only something that can be expressed in a noise with nothing but all consonant letters. Hawke tries very hard to imagine a time when Varric had a desire for personal growth that wasn't for his coin purse. It's fairly difficult and he promises to come back to it later. After all, the part he can concede to is Varric does enjoy his information and that's more fitting for him that schleping cargo.

Hawke just smiles because he can't help it. Maybe he shouldn't after all that's happened—and he's lost a part of himself that happiness and joviality don't come as easily anymore; sarcasm edging further into bitterness—but as strange as this is, it's like a small vacation. And isn't that just odd to think of? Floating around in space and he equates that with vacation.

But, the weight of Thedas isn't here. That burden isn't weighing down his shoulders or his heart. And he thinks, for the first time in a very long time, that it might be okay to let himself be Hawke again. ]

Hey; it wasn't my choice. Quite frankly, I question the validity of the sanity of whomever's in charge. [ Heavily questions. It's boring being here already. ] So... [ he drags the o-sound out longer than necessary. ] what's going on here? Anything we need to know?

[ aka: when can they start sticking their fingers where they don't belong and get into trouble? ]

[ Fenris stares at him, then the device, then looks to the ants and back to him. Brain waves? ]

You share your thoughts with the ants?

[ What. ]

The device is magical in some way?

[ This time, speaking of magic doesn't provoke a negative response. Magical artifacts are okay. Magic using people are not. ]

[ No, nothing dire just yet.

Hopefully not at all, honestly. He's a little bit tired of being in dire situations. The way his life goes, he assumes that before long something here will be dire, but until that happens, he's sort of really okay with pretending that everything is fine. There's no heavy burden of being responsible for the lives of Thedas to weigh him down. (Granted, he would've liked to have been the one to take down Corypheus once and for all, and that still burns a little that he wasn't—he's going to hold onto that responsibility for a lifetime. But, he'd had important things to do. Warden-y things. Much to Carver's chagrin. That was a little fun, truth be known.)

Here he can ignore things he doesn't want to think about. Or, at least, doesn't want to think about while he's with Fenris. Thoughts that drag down his spirits are better left for when he's alone. So, he can cast the heaviness aside and enjoy things for what they are.

Though he might just be walking right into trouble. He hears that light lilt in Fenris' tone and knows he's likely headed for trouble. Ah, yes, and there it is. Hawke chokes on his own breath and coughs immediately after. ]

I'm offended by the very insinuation—!

[ He's really not. If only because it's completely true. But, in his own defense, Hawke flirted with everyone back then! At least, until he knew there was a chance for something with Fenris. ...Though didn't quite stop. It's ingrained so deeply in his personality!

Whatever. He's not on trial here! ]

It made him so annoyed, though. It was all in good fun.
scowls: (013)

[personal profile] scowls 2016-02-09 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's almost a pity that Carver isn't here. Fenris would not wish to embroil others in the misadventures that befall them, but if Carver--and Aveline, he decides after a moment--were here, then all of Hawke's family would be present in a way they haven't really been since that expedition to the Deep Roads. And that would be good for him. Perhaps good for all of them.

But Carver and Aveline aren't here. It's just him and the dwarf to keep Hawke out of trouble. Or follow him into it, if he's being realistic. And perhaps that's all right too. Fenris has been following him for more of the years that he remembers than he hasn't been. There's no reason to change that now. ]

Oh, was that it? Fun?

[ Fenris' voice takes on a sweetness that promises the heckling isn't finished. Oh no. It's barely begun. ]

I suppose you've had quite a bit of fun, haven't you? In the Rose, in the Hanged Man, with Isabela and the Inquisitor and that Tevinter mage.

[ Fenris knows the name of every magister in the Imperium. At least, those who presided over the magisterium while he'd been Danarius' slave. He recognizes the Pavus name, if not the son who joined the Inquisition. ]

You have a lot of fun, Hawke.

[ He isn't truly upset by the flirting. Not unless it happens in front of him. And even then, it's pathetically easy to rip the hearts out of the competition. Fenris has nothing to fear. Everyone else, however, does. ]

[ Well, unfortunately, she's literally barking up the wrong tree.

Hawke is many things, and truth be known he can be responsible when the situation calls for it. Now, however, is not one of those times. Because if there's one thing he knows people fleeing need in the span of travel from one place to another (and they should be thanking their own version of the Maker they're not forced into the hold on a boat), it's entertainment.

Watching the goings-on with an amused expression, Hawke tips his head slightly to the side and strokes the beard on his chin. ]

Well. I imagine if they scrunched up some, they'd fit right in the hole there.

[He stops to give her a raised eyebrow, looking kind of intrigued.]

Shit, i-if they're obliged to take all ideas into consideration why - wh-why waste a suggestion on dumping a bunch of kids outta the ship? Fucking... I'd rather ask for a McDonalds or something.

[He shrugs when she gestures towards the shelves. Not like he cares about reading enough to use them anyway.]

S-so what if I did? You think you're obliged to know every little thing about me just 'cause we share a room?

[He sits up just to give her a look that says "give me one good reason why I should tell you".]
justabit: (youre a real pain in the ass morty)

[personal profile] justabit 2016-02-09 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[He'll assume that ass comment was some kind of pun, judging by Sans' amused expression on his face and he'll move right on to the question.]

You name it, I-I've been to it. [Usually Rick's not one to talk about his space travel in front of random strangers, but he can dig Sans' humor! Lucky you, skeleton man.]

It's not even just space travel, been across dimensions and alternate timelines. M-met another Rick before who's a totally clean guy-- thinks he's above us all j-just 'cause he doesn't enjoy a good drink every now and then. Fucking asshole. [Getting off track a little bit, but Sans can probably get the idea here.]

[Mushi? Zam tilts her head slightly as she tries to work out exactly what the foreign word could be referring to. Then he mentions cigarettes.]

That’s what you’re worried about? [She shakes her head.] If you need a smoke that bad, you can see if they sell them at the next planet we get to. [She gestures for him to follow her.] Come on, if you don't have them, you don't have them. Let's get you to the medbay.
backsassin: by <user name = sousaphone> (that you'd never been born)

[The corners of Zam’s mouth quirk up towards a smile. It’s strangely reassuring to see that even beings that look like they could take on a good-sized army feel a little anxious about this place.]

Relax, it’ll be fine. We run into another Cybertronian, it’ll be more of a headache than anything else.

[She’s still walking backwards, occasionally glancing behind her to make sure she’s going the right way and not about to bump into any walls.]

Anyways, you’re taking this a lot better than a lot of people who come through the Ingress. This kind of thing happen to you often?
backsassin: by <user name = sousaphone> (that you couldn't shake off)

[personal profile] backsassin 2016-02-09 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Zam whistles.] Wow. [So. Apparently getting off this ship doesn’t necessarily mean staying off.] Well, hate to say it, but welcome back.

[She glances at the woman’s hand.] You’ll still need to get you a new MID and uniform at the medbay. You probably already know the way, so whether or not you’d like company is up to you.

I’m Zam by the way. The crew’s probably got a lot of new faces since you left.

You're a teacher. [ well, it makes as much sense as anything else on this ship. Still she can't quite stop the smile curling up the corners of her mouth. ]

You're a teacher who's sneaking into rooms to build a curriculum.

[ she clears her throat to stifle her laugh, but it threads it's way through her voice.]. Excuse me. Ah, yes, this is my room. The librarian's too, as it happens.
