I... didn't even see a typo.
Well, that's-- nice, I think. Always a pleasure to meet a fan.
[ Except he feels awkward as hell, but at least the guy knows him from his work, not his ability to turn into a giant green rage monster. That's what it looks like so far.
He's about to ask the guy for his name when he speaks again, and instead he looks down at the Petri dish, adjusting the lid and the tube. ]
I didn't see, I-- [ There's another twitch, and the ant - Nash - starts moving his legs, taking a couple of weak steps. ] Oh, there we go. Guess he did, yes.
no subject
Wow, man, it worked.
[Scott gently nudges the dish to let Nash know that he's right there.]
I honestly thought he'd died or something. Ants die all the time, right? Was thinking that he was getting old or someone might have squashed him.
[He straightens up and pats Bruce's shoulder.]
Thanks for that, seriously, I owe you one.
no subject
Well, ants do have an impressive lifespan for an insect. Some worker ants can live for months or even years, and queen ants can even reach up to thirty. So they don't all necessarily die all the time.
[ Honestly, there's a good chance some of Scott's buddies will live longer than a hamster or even a dog would. So there's that. ]
Don't mention it. [ No seriously, don't mention it to anyone. He has a feeling he'll be mercilessly made fun of by
Tonysome people. ] Just make sure you find him somewhere nice to stay on the ship, and give him some time to recover. You... have some sort of colony with you? Or more than one, maybe?no subject
[Scott hadn't taken the time to count each and every ant, but there were a lot and he could estimate their numbers.]
I'll take him back to my room. That's where the rest are, a couple hundred of them.
[He was in the works of finding everything he needed to build them some nice ant homes.]
I've been trying to keep them all out of my roommates stuff.
no subject
[ A few entomology books have taught him some curious facts, even if he's never really used that knowledge for much before. ]
Your room? [ Bruce looks up from the dish, eyebrows raising. ] How do you manage to stop them from roaming around the place?
[ Unless he keeps them in some kind of container. Has to be that, he figures. ]
no subject
[Scott lifts the petri dish and tips it slowly until the ant crawls out into his palm.]
They used to listen, but not so much anymore. Probably the head stuff they've got going on.
[He presses his hand to his chest to make sure he doesn't drop Nash.]
Or maybe my tech's faulty.
no subject
[ Sure Bruce, say that as if you haven't seen or heard weirder since you got here. ]
You mean you have some kind of technology that lets you communicate with insects?
[ Because if so, Bruce wants to see it. Bad. ]
no subject
[He raises a brow as if to say, kids, right?]
Korr was the hardest to win over, he really liked Hope, but he listens to me now.
[Scott reaches into his pocket, pulling out the EMP device.]
Yeah, this.
no subject
And this Hope can communicate with them too?
[ Curious, he leans in, picking up the device to check it out. ]
This... works through some sort of electromagnetic pulse? Fine tuned to the ants' pheromones, I take it.
no subject
[Scott was only given the suit and the role because Hank hadn't wanted Hope to get hurt. She knew everything about it and had helped him learn. She also had a mean right hook.]
Yeah, it does.
[Wow, Bruce, impress him with your brain why don't you.]
no subject
It's an amazing piece of technology.
[ And Bruce has seen his fair share, so that should speak for itself. ]
If you want to, you can drop by the Science Department, and we can run a diagnosis on it. Bring some of your... friends. If it's been affected by the Ingress somehow, we can try to fix it.
[ He hands the device back to Scott, head tipping in a faint nod. ]
What's your name, by the way?
no subject
[It makes sense that Bruce Banner would be running the Science Department, he's super smart and good with that kind of stuff.]
Maybe then we'll get those little guys all sorted out.
[Scott makes a face, he'd been too distraught to introduce himself, sticking his hand out for a proper greeting. The one without the ant, obviously.]
I'm Scott. Scott Lang.
no subject
[ Not like he's had a lot of time to get the place up and running properly since the start of the month. ]
Nice to meet you, Scott. [ He smiles, reaching out and shaking his hand. ] Hope your buddy feels better soon. Try to get them all something good to eat, too, it'll help liven them up.
no subject
[Now that Bruce mentions it, he really should go and poke around for stuff that his ants need.]
I'll do that, too. Don't be a stranger, Bruce.
