[She stares at Padmé, trying to remember if she'd seen the woman around when they'd been on the planet with all the portals.]
We all gotta chance to go back home a long time ago, that's how we ended up with Baby.
[She gives Padmé a crooked smile.]
Must be nice arrivin' and havin' people already. Don't really get the whole marriage thing, but I'm guessin' it makes ya'll awful close.
no subject
To go home, but you came back?
[Not quite understanding, although her expression does lighten. Despite everything that has happened, what Mustafar meant, she does still love Anakin. Truly and deeply.]
It was, and we are. Although I can say I had no interest in marriage for a number of years.

[She stops to laugh at the pet gnawing at her shirt, untangling him and turning her smile back to Padmé.]
We could go with other people too, see their homes for a lil' while. That's how I got Baby. I followed Leia in.
[Her nose wrinkles, despite her smile. She was still young enough, and from a place with that was anti-monogamy enough, that she found marriage gross in that way only children did.]
I don't got no interest in it. Guess it's gotta be good enough for some people though. You and your husband and all.
no subject
Her lips turn in to a smile as she watches Baby, although that smile freezes at the name.] Leia... Organa?
[Or is it just a coincidence. Surely other Leia's exist in the galaxy, but are they here?
But her expression is one to bring a gentle laugh to Padmé. There is something so endearing about it, reminding her own her nieces and their thoughts on certain aspects of like that they had no interest in.]
It is. I love Anakin dearly. I would not have wed just anyone.

[And it's been bothering the child ever since. She'd been very attached to Leia; the woman's disappearance had hit hard.
She takes a moment to sigh, before she catches the name of Padmé's husband and has to gape.]
Anakin? The weird guy with the laser sword? He's your husband?
no subject
[All that Padmé knew of her back home is that she had born her before passing. The smallest glance of a baby's face before she had died. Here she had been given an opportunity that she otherwise would not have been granted.
But Padmé can't help but give a surprised laugh. The weird guy with the laser sword... It is an interesting way to state it, although it is her perspective. To those unfamiliar with a lightsaber, it might seem like how she is describing it.]
Yes, that is him.
no subject
[She'd feel awkward having a conversation with someone who didn't like one of the few people she considered a real friend. More than that, it would be disappointing. Padmé seems nice, it would be a shame to have to hate her on principle.]
He never told me his was married. [She's going to have a chat with him about it next time she sees him. Even if he has no reason to be spilling anything about his personal life to a child.] So is it you I ought to talk to when he needs to be put in line?
no subject
[Yet a fully grown woman when Padmé arrived here.
In truth, she's not that surprised. It isn't the easiest adjustment to make, as strange as it sounds. So secretive for years, they no longer have to be, but it is not like they run around the ship, screaming it to the world. Yet there is that soft smile, and a shake of her head.] You can, but I somehow get the impression that you can put him in line all by yourself.
no subject
Even more so the realization of what Anakin must be.]
You're her mom? Is he her dad? That's-
[Wild. Hard to believe. Upsetting, now that she realizes Leia's disappearance has separated a family. She blinks rapidly and stares down at her lap, unsure of what to say in comfort.]
no subject
A lot to take in.
[Padmé offers. If anything, Leia and Padmé could have passed for sisters and not mother and daughter. She had seen a lot of Anakin in her though, the things that had drawn her to him in the first place.
There is a moment, before her own hand gingerly reaches out to touch her shoulder.] I am glad that I was given the opportunity to meet her. I'm afraid I wasn't there for her as she grew up.
no subject
She stills under Padmé's hand. It's familiar, the same careful sort of way Leia would touch her when she was upset.]
What happened that you weren't?
no subject
An accident, unfortunately.
[As that is what she will always call it. A series of unfortunate events that had culminated with her death. If there is one to blame, it likely would be Palpatine, but what good would come from that mentality?]
Shortly after she was born.
