the lucid disparity revisited
"Never be the first to arrive or the last to go, and never, ever be both."

By now, time has passed, and most of the crew have found some sort of comfortable groove with the natives of the unnamed island they crashed near. Partying, gambling and drinking, and more… Even the mysterious pool has given people who could answer its riddle insight in this confusing time. However, as the nights and days continue to progress and the parties begin to blur together, things are… odd. The hosts are still as kind as ever, offering anything and everything those at the temple-like building could ask for, but every so often, the world around them appears different. Clear, as if a fog had been lifted. Yet, it’s only a blink, and then, it’s gone, returning everyone to their regularly scheduled eternal party.

Down on the beach, the Captains are still as busy as ever working with those capable to restore function to the Moira. On the morning of the 20th, Navigator Manasseh’s vitals begin to slowly return to normal, her status on the Directory reverting to GREEN, and with it, life is brought back to the Moira. This, of course, means everyone is able to board the ship and leave, but most of the crew who traveled through the jungle and stayed at the party aren’t exactly willing to go just yet. Prior to this, a few of the crew who suddenly realized things were strange and that the people around them were acting strange - themselves included - approached Thán with this particular revelation, upon which Nathan Drake planned to bring back things from the temple to be tested for irregularities. Each sample returned to Cúrre does not alert her to anything abnormal, comprised of similar compounds—except for the water brought to her from the pool. Acting quickly, she reaches the same conclusion as a few of the other crewmembers do: that the water neutralizes the mysterious intoxication caused by everything on this unknown planet.

FROM UNDER THE VEIL
The combined efforts of the crew and Curre have resulted in an “antidote” being made from the pool water; crew members pass it around to those down on the ship and beach, then utilize caution while administering it to those at the party. The change happens slowly for most. A drink that was perfect only a little while ago is suddenly sickeningly sweet and no longer enjoyable. The food tastes wrong. The music no longer urges you to dance but instead reminds you that your feet are aching. The magic is fading, and as it does, the cracks in the facade begin to reveal themselves. The elegant city built into the rocks is faded and cracking at the edges. Nothing is as it seems, especially the hosts. Their eagerness to please now has an edge to it. They try and ply their guests with new food, drink and distractions, but they know when the game is up. Do you try and slip away when they’re distracted, or do you demand to know why they’ve done this? Do you dare to find out?

AS TIME GOES BY
Crew have begun to filter to the beach, and as the ship reboots, its systems expelling water and allowing it to float on the surface, all Moira-connected technology refreshes. MID devices, to those who check, will show that a year has passed since they crash landed on this strange planet. Those that did not join the party would not have been aware that so much time had passed as the planet seems to be under the influence of a blurring of time, probably due to the fact it is so close to the Luminous Sea. Crew would have gone through the motions and not realized that supplies were dwindling, and anyone who has themselves looked over in the Medbay will discover that they are, in fact, physically one year older. With the Moira finally functioning and with everyone on board, the ship finally begins to ascend and leave the planet behind.

The Captains are all working together to get the crew settled back on board and help those who might need some adjusting to this particular news. Since it has been such a long time, fresh supplies are badly needed, and the ship is directed towards the closest known place: the Mini Colony.

Yeah. Ya see- [She starts to throw her hands as she talks, the rodent chasing the loose cloth of her sleeves.] This place had a bunch of those machines. Like the Ingress. Only they didn't work good enough to send anyone back forever. So we only gotta see home for a couple hours or whatever. 'cept when it all started to break at the end, then a bunch of people got trapped for ages and ages.

[She stops to laugh at the pet gnawing at her shirt, untangling him and turning her smile back to Padmé.]

We could go with other people too, see their homes for a lil' while. That's how I got Baby. I followed Leia in.

[Her nose wrinkles, despite her smile. She was still young enough, and from a place with that was anti-monogamy enough, that she found marriage gross in that way only children did.]

I don't got no interest in it. Guess it's gotta be good enough for some people though. You and your husband and all.

[It is with interest that she listens. What Padmé has learned to date is that this place exceeds any expectations she has had. It goes beyond anything available in their galaxy. Moreso, it seems, with everything that she learns before her own arrival here.

Her lips turn in to a smile as she watches Baby, although that smile freezes at the name.]
Leia... Organa?

[Or is it just a coincidence. Surely other Leia's exist in the galaxy, but are they here?

But her expression is one to bring a gentle laugh to Padmé. There is something so endearing about it, reminding her own her nieces and their thoughts on certain aspects of like that they had no interest in.]

It is. I love Anakin dearly. I would not have wed just anyone.

Mmm-hmm. [She confirms it after a moment of thinking, surnames still a little strange for her to remember.] Did ya know her? She- well, it ain't been very long since she left.

[And it's been bothering the child ever since. She'd been very attached to Leia; the woman's disappearance had hit hard.

She takes a moment to sigh, before she catches the name of Padmé's husband and has to gape.]

Anakin? The weird guy with the laser sword? He's your husband?

I- I did get to know her here, yes.

[All that Padmé knew of her back home is that she had born her before passing. The smallest glance of a baby's face before she had died. Here she had been given an opportunity that she otherwise would not have been granted.

But Padmé can't help but give a surprised laugh. The weird guy with the laser sword... It is an interesting way to state it, although it is her perspective. To those unfamiliar with a lightsaber, it might seem like how she is describing it.]

Yes, that is him.

Oh. [She pauses, bites her lip. She can't tell from the woman's face what sort of 'knowing' she means.] Were ya friends?

[She'd feel awkward having a conversation with someone who didn't like one of the few people she considered a real friend. More than that, it would be disappointing. Padmé seems nice, it would be a shame to have to hate her on principle.]

He never told me his was married. [She's going to have a chat with him about it next time she sees him. Even if he has no reason to be spilling anything about his personal life to a child.] So is it you I ought to talk to when he needs to be put in line?

[personal profile] democratically 2016-10-16 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I would like to think we were. [Which is the truth. She hadn't gotten to spend too much time with her daughter though. Yet, Padmé could say that it had been wonderful, being able to do so. Pausing, contemplative, she offers.] She's my daughter. This place, it seems, has it's own way. She was but a newborn babe before I arrived.

[Yet a fully grown woman when Padmé arrived here.

In truth, she's not that surprised. It isn't the easiest adjustment to make, as strange as it sounds. So secretive for years, they no longer have to be, but it is not like they run around the ship, screaming it to the world. Yet there is that soft smile, and a shake of her head.]
You can, but I somehow get the impression that you can put him in line all by yourself.
kidjoy: Live version of the girl, looking worried ([Worry])

[personal profile] kidjoy 2016-10-19 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a long silence on the Girl's part, mouth opening and closing much like a fish while she tries to process what she's hearing. Leia's mother. She'd thought it had been a shock when Leia had sat her down to talk about Kylo, but this took the cake. She wasn't so stupid to not realize her friend had parents, but as with her own complicated relationship to the term 'mother', meeting Leia's was difficult to swallow.

Even more so the realization of what Anakin must be.]

You're her mom? Is he her dad? That's-

[Wild. Hard to believe. Upsetting, now that she realizes Leia's disappearance has separated a family. She blinks rapidly and stares down at her lap, unsure of what to say in comfort.]
democratically: (listening)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-10-21 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
[It is much how Padmé had felt. After all, when she had last seen Leia, she had been a newborn babe. The individual that she had met had borne a striking resemblance to her physically, although it had taken time to juxtapose the image in her mind to the one that had stood before her. Padmé had known that she would miss everything, but as she had passed, she hadn't thought she would be confronted with it. It wasn't a complaint though, as Padmé would take all the pain if it meant knowing her daughter if even a little.]

A lot to take in.

[Padmé offers. If anything, Leia and Padmé could have passed for sisters and not mother and daughter. She had seen a lot of Anakin in her though, the things that had drawn her to him in the first place.

There is a moment, before her own hand gingerly reaches out to touch her shoulder.]
I am glad that I was given the opportunity to meet her. I'm afraid I wasn't there for her as she grew up.

[She can't do much more than nod. It is a lot. Strange timelines wasn't something she'd been confronted with much, not in a way that felt direct or connected to her. And it was simply hard to view people she knew as parents. Her ideas on the concept were fuzzy, and reality simply didn't compute with the vague stories she was told about the parents in the City.

She stills under Padmé's hand. It's familiar, the same careful sort of way Leia would touch her when she was upset.]

What happened that you weren't?
democratically: (occupied)

[personal profile] democratically 2016-10-28 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her own role as a parent was limited. Very limited. She had always wanted a family but things simply had never worked out that way. There was little reason though to linger of the things she couldn't have and rather, she would focus on the things she could have.]

An accident, unfortunately.

[As that is what she will always call it. A series of unfortunate events that had culminated with her death. If there is one to blame, it likely would be Palpatine, but what good would come from that mentality?]

Shortly after she was born.
