[Breaths that hover a thread away from sobs stutter and slow, forced into a rhythm so that Frisk can try and think again past the hurt. Just count to ten.]
It's...you're not a thing. You shouldn't be treated like one.
[That's not all of it, but it's a start. Small steps, try to keep it simple.]
I know they...they made you to do one thing. But that doesn't mean you deserve that. You're not...you're alive.
[How many times had Flowey cursed Alphys for doing what she had done? Frisk couldn't blame him entirely, even if they understood that Alphys had never meant for things to fall out that way. But these scientists here aren't her. They weren't operating on panicked need and a blind hope things would turn out for the best.]
You should have a real life, and your...your own choices.

He meant what he said just a few seconds ago:
'I have no use for that time, either.']
There's no need to be upset.
[He is touched that Frisk is this upset. Because it means that Frisk cares about him that much.
That they feel his pain is important enough to believe it exists. Yet...
Frisk isn't trying to understand him at all. ]
After all, I'm here now. And I have something to look forward to.
[He lifts his head with a smile, raising his eyes as though to stare through the ceiling and into the future. A future which is coming closer every second.
Now, he needs only to be patient.]
no subject
[He isn't like them at all.]
[It doesn't make what happened any less wrong, but they know how it irks him when people around him make assumptions with no base in fact. With one deep, hitching breath Frisk scrubs at their eyes to wipe away tears that, at least for his perspective, aren't needed.]
...yeah.
[Following his gaze, Frisk looks up towards the surface with a faint frown. Whatever is waiting up there for Kaworu...they hope it's what he wishes for.]
If we come back, you think I can meet him next time?
no subject
....we'll see.
[But.
He looks back at the smaller child next to him, his smile shrinking down to a ghost of itself--then dissipating entirely into a rare, businesslike seriousness.]
For now, we need to hide you.
[Sorry, not sorry. But where he's going... you cannot follow.]
We've been here too long as it is. It's only because this room's contents are secret that we've gone undisturbed.
no subject
Okay.
[Frisk is a little disappointed that they won't be able to accompany Kaworu, but...well, maybe they can find a way to sneak out of this lab and join him on the surface. They'll have to be careful, though.]
Do you know a good place I can stay?
no subject
SEELE didn't design their inner sanctum thoughtlessly. It's a place full of secrets--its very location is secret, in fact--but not the kind that will hide a small human.
If he didn't already know that this room would see further use before the final writ of SEELE's prophecies, he'd leave Frisk here--where the only people likely to enter were the old men themselves and a couple of other specially privileged individuals.
But even that didn't matter. He could feel that they were likely already too late. He would have to take his chances.
He studies the single door in and out of the room wordlessly for a short moment. Then he gives Frisk a short look.]
Go to the other side of the pillar and make yourself as small as you can. Be prepared to run.
[And so saying, he walks to the door.
Where they're already waiting.]
no subject
[They can do this. They can. Stay determined.]
no subject
It's a strange thing to happen. He never specifically wanted it to, but... it has now become obvious that this is the case.
He has no time to ruminate on that development, though.]
...
[He opens the door.]
--ah. Hello.
[It is convenient for him that he smiles so easily. The six armed men and women on the other side of the door regard him with neither patience nor affection.]
"Tabris. Your access of this chamber was unordered and unauthorised. We are here to escort you to a council provisional children's session. Account for your business."
[So that's how this will go.
SEELE does not move slowly.
There was almost certainly an order to investigate his activity as soon as he requested and received entrance to this room. Already two of the personnel are moving to pass him on either side, as soon as he steps out of the doorway.
Is it to perform escort? Or to sweep the room's interior?
They have no way of knowing the significance of the room or its secrets... but he should stop this before it progresses further.
For many reasons.]
No business. But this room's contents are confidential, permitted only to authorised entrants.
I will accept your escort, so please step back from the doorway.
no subject
[Frisk frowns and shrinks down a little lower, trying to stay as quiet as possible, barely even breathing. Tabris? Is that what they call him here? Or is that what Kaworu 'is'?]
[Either way, Kaworu is pretty clearly already in trouble, and it makes guilt curl up in Frisk's gut. Why did the Ingress have to take them both here?]
no subject
Days which are, by his presence, fast upon them.
So his escort gives him space to pass, and he walks into their midst, all but a tiny segment of him totally relaxed--his hands are in his pockets, his smile calm--but the two who had meant to enter the room push past him, followed by a third, and he knows his game is already up.
Oh well.
He watches, silent, as the first two circle around the central pillar, the third stationing herself just inside, weapon raised and ready.
Unnecessary dramatics any time but this one.
His expression hardens a little, mouth tightening into a line of disappointment--or at least displeasure.
Well--]
no subject
[Their muscles tense, and they takes several slow, deep breaths to try and get their racing heart under control. Three seconds until the guards will see them. Two...one...]
[Just barely before they come into view Frisk springs into action, leaping up and darting around the cylinder with as much speed and agility they can muster. And for what it's worth it's impressive, and Frisk can only hope that the shock of their appearance will buy them enough time to get past the rest and out down the hall.]
[Almost there--]
Content warning for this tag and the next few: child murder :I
[One of them is startled enough to flinch. One of three. The other two, though--
Two shots ring out, simultaneously. One narrowly misses Frisk, whipping through their hair at the back of their head as they dash for the door.
The other, however--the one fired by the woman right behind them--strikes the running child directly in the back, penetrating flesh and sweater to pierce right through one of Frisk's lungs... and out the other side.
In the doorway, Kaworu watches, silent. Unreactive. He makes no move to stop anyone, nor flinches when he sees Frisk go down. His hands are still in his pockets, his expression unchanged.
.......
Not fast enough, Frisk.]
cw: really horrifying child death
[The first is that guns are very, very loud, especially in an enclosed room.]
[The second is that guns are much, much faster than monster bullets.]
[The third is that being shot hurts.]
[The bullet tears through Frisk's chest and they shout in shock and pain, stumbling and falling to the floor as their brain tries to process it. Blood is pooling on the floor and filling their lungs, and Frisk can't even begin to try breathing. Can't move their body.]
[Their SOUL is trembling, cracking. They can't let it rise out, not here, they can't try to RESET...but Frisk doesn't want to die. They can't die, they can't, they won't, they won't, they won't they won't they won't they won't--!]
Probably the last tag requiring content warning????
Two more bullets--loud, deafeningly loud--finish the job with brutal efficiency.
Their blood spatters the cryptically diagrammed floor.
But no doubt the bullets will have ruined it anyway.
Kaworu's unsympathetic frown still doesn't change.
Timeline over...
Time to go 'home.']
HOORAY CHILD UN-DEAD...IFIED...I swear Frisk isn't a zombie
[And for once, it isn't followed by Asgore's concerned voice urging them to keep going.]
[Frisk wakes in the med bay, and it's only confusing that the smell is sterile rather than old and musty. They blink and sit up on the cot, rubbing their head with a grimace before looking around.]
[Oh. How long has Kaworu been waiting for them?]
...sorry. I didn't mean to get you in trouble.
no subject
What he says is:]
Once you were dead, my time there was limited.
[Is that bitterness or just indifference?]
no subject
[Frisk blinks and frowns, moving to start climbing down off the bed.]
It pulled you back?
no subject
no subject
...mmn.
...you want me to help you try again?
[It's already a given that Kaworu will want to go back with someone.]
no subject
He doesn't really understand what makes Frisk willing to do it again.
...no, yes he does.
But really?
A smirk cracks Kaworu's callous countenance--it's not really a nice smirk, either. If such a thing is even possible.]
You really are desperate, aren't you?
Well, I won't stop you. After all, I need someone else to get through that gate.
no subject
[Frisk frowns and cocks their head to the side, somewhat confused.]
I promised that I'd help you, I can't just give up after one try.
[They're Determined, after all.]
kARL I SWEAR TO GOD
Even though they were shot and killed, they're offering to go back without even any hesitation?
What does Frisk think will happen if they break that oh-so-important promise?
What would happen?Whatever.
It suits him just fine right now.]
Then I'm ready whenever you are.
this is the most healthy of friendships, right?
[Frisk smiles slightly and nods, rubbing their fingers together. The mental image of Kaworu gazing at the ceiling resurfaces, and for once they don't reach to try and hold his hand before turning to the door.]
Maybe we'll be put in a different spot this time.
don't mind me, just being fucking Unnerved over here in Adult Town
Or who was going to send them there.]
Oh, hey kiddo. [Sans' perpetual smile turns genuine on reflex when he spots the child leaving the medbay. Just done visiting someone, no doubt. What a good kid.]
... Hey, kiddo. [He repeats again, warmth to his voice a little more forced when he looks up to see Kaworu.] You guys candy striping?
little swapping of the order here, don't mind us
Hi, Sans! [Frisk blinks a little bit at the slang--they've never heard that one before--and glance up to Kaworu to be sure he doesn't have an idea about it before turning back to shrug.] Naw, I just got hurt a little. We're gonna go down to th' planet an' try the Ingress!
[Hopefully Kaworu will catch on to the little white lie, and not blow it out of the water. He can be a little obtuse at times...but he's pretty good at secrets.]
Sans is actually the most responsible person in this room! ...or is he.
