cw: really horrifying child death
[The first is that guns are very, very loud, especially in an enclosed room.]
[The second is that guns are much, much faster than monster bullets.]
[The third is that being shot hurts.]
[The bullet tears through Frisk's chest and they shout in shock and pain, stumbling and falling to the floor as their brain tries to process it. Blood is pooling on the floor and filling their lungs, and Frisk can't even begin to try breathing. Can't move their body.]
[Their SOUL is trembling, cracking. They can't let it rise out, not here, they can't try to RESET...but Frisk doesn't want to die. They can't die, they can't, they won't, they won't, they won't they won't they won't they won't--!]
Probably the last tag requiring content warning????
Two more bullets--loud, deafeningly loud--finish the job with brutal efficiency.
Their blood spatters the cryptically diagrammed floor.
But no doubt the bullets will have ruined it anyway.
Kaworu's unsympathetic frown still doesn't change.
Timeline over...
Time to go 'home.']
HOORAY CHILD UN-DEAD...IFIED...I swear Frisk isn't a zombie
[And for once, it isn't followed by Asgore's concerned voice urging them to keep going.]
[Frisk wakes in the med bay, and it's only confusing that the smell is sterile rather than old and musty. They blink and sit up on the cot, rubbing their head with a grimace before looking around.]
[Oh. How long has Kaworu been waiting for them?]
...sorry. I didn't mean to get you in trouble.
no subject
What he says is:]
Once you were dead, my time there was limited.
[Is that bitterness or just indifference?]
no subject
[Frisk blinks and frowns, moving to start climbing down off the bed.]
It pulled you back?
no subject
no subject
...mmn.
...you want me to help you try again?
[It's already a given that Kaworu will want to go back with someone.]
no subject
He doesn't really understand what makes Frisk willing to do it again.
...no, yes he does.
But really?
A smirk cracks Kaworu's callous countenance--it's not really a nice smirk, either. If such a thing is even possible.]
You really are desperate, aren't you?
Well, I won't stop you. After all, I need someone else to get through that gate.
no subject
[Frisk frowns and cocks their head to the side, somewhat confused.]
I promised that I'd help you, I can't just give up after one try.
[They're Determined, after all.]
kARL I SWEAR TO GOD
Even though they were shot and killed, they're offering to go back without even any hesitation?
What does Frisk think will happen if they break that oh-so-important promise?
What would happen?Whatever.
It suits him just fine right now.]
Then I'm ready whenever you are.
this is the most healthy of friendships, right?
[Frisk smiles slightly and nods, rubbing their fingers together. The mental image of Kaworu gazing at the ceiling resurfaces, and for once they don't reach to try and hold his hand before turning to the door.]
Maybe we'll be put in a different spot this time.
don't mind me, just being fucking Unnerved over here in Adult Town
Or who was going to send them there.]
Oh, hey kiddo. [Sans' perpetual smile turns genuine on reflex when he spots the child leaving the medbay. Just done visiting someone, no doubt. What a good kid.]
... Hey, kiddo. [He repeats again, warmth to his voice a little more forced when he looks up to see Kaworu.] You guys candy striping?
little swapping of the order here, don't mind us
Hi, Sans! [Frisk blinks a little bit at the slang--they've never heard that one before--and glance up to Kaworu to be sure he doesn't have an idea about it before turning back to shrug.] Naw, I just got hurt a little. We're gonna go down to th' planet an' try the Ingress!
[Hopefully Kaworu will catch on to the little white lie, and not blow it out of the water. He can be a little obtuse at times...but he's pretty good at secrets.]
Sans is actually the most responsible person in this room! ...or is he.
[Kaworu's not very subtle.
But he knows quite well that the easiest way to let a lie like that pass is not to acknowledge it.
So he doesn't.
He does find it interesting that Frisk would lie about this to Sans, though. Isn't Sans their friend?
Apparently it's okay to lie to their friends, but not to break a promise. He's sure Sans would appreciate that logic, if he only knew.]

no subject
I slipped an' hit my head kinda hard. 'M okay now.
...what is candy-striping? [You know, in case Sans happened to miss Kaworu asking somehow.]
no subject
He noticed you ignoring him, Sans.
But it's all right.
He's not bothered by it.
You were talking to Frisk, weren't you?]
no subject
What it sounds like, kid. [He finishes the bit by handing the gumball to Frisk, straightening up with one more thoughtful glance Kaworu's way. His eyelights reorient on Frisk after a half second.] Watch where you're running, alright? No reason your mom's gotta know about this, but I'm kinda honor bound by Mom Law to tell her if it happens again.
[Another look towards Kaworu. This time, he even speaks to the guy.] You've met Tori, right? Tall, big arms, lots of fire magic to crisp up bad guys.
[The 'so make sure you're not one' implication is clear, no matter how friendly Sans' tone is.]
no subject
[And then he turns to Kaowru and--oh, rude, Sans. Don't think they don't see what you did there. Frisk's cheeks puff up, and they give Sans a very annoyed look.] Yeah, Kaworu has breakfast with us sometimes! Mom likes him.
no subject
Was that a threat?
It's a good thing Frisk speaks up before Kaworu can, or he'd likely have questioned Sans about it right there. Instead, what he says is this:]
Tori--? Oh, you mean Toriel? Don't worry.
[His smile doesn't even falter.]
Frisk is safe with me.
[Honestly.
He doesn't want to fight Toriel. He doesn't want to fight anyone.
It's not that he couldn't, obviously. But what for?
He just doesn't understand that kind of thinking at all.]
no subject
Be good, kids. Wait thirty minutes after eating before playing with any matches.
[On cue, he disappears around a hall corner. Quite literally, though one would only know if they bothered to look.]
no subject
[...yeah, that's about the expression they expected to see on him.] Sans likes to makes weird jokes like that. It didn't actually mean anything.
no subject
But he was right there for the event that proves their lie.
So he doesn't try to play along.]
Oh... it's all right. I'm not worried.
[Sans' interruption was, if nothing else, a good distraction, and he's speaking again in that tone of benign detachment.]
no subject
No, he meant the stuff with Mom. I dunno why he's worried about you, though! You never did anything.
[Sans is protective, but not over-protective.]
I used the wrong icon for the last tag omf
He stares at the doorway that Sans disappeared through.
He says nothing about it, but he felt the presence of Sans' soul vanish.]
...you said there are things monsters can tell about souls.
[Which has directly resulted in Kaworu's permanent mistrust of them. But.]
