"Big things have small beginnings."
☄ DECONTAMINATION #2 ( 04.14 - 04.17 ) On the Moira, crew come and go without much hassle. They take a transporter to planets and moons and back again without any fuss... Until today. All crew that try to reboard the Moira coming back from Del Pascia will be denied access, a warning flashing on their MID - Decontamination Required for Entry. It’s a protocol that hasn’t been enacted before, and the MID offers no explanation as to why it is now. The transporter will seal and then be permitted to dock in the Cargo Bay, where the procedure will begin. All crew on the transporter have to dispose of their clothing by placing it inside hazardous waste bags located in a compartment near the front of the craft. After all clothing is stored, a gas-like substance will fill the transporter, breathable yet tasteless, and once it dissipates, crew will be free to go. ☄ D.ON'T E.VER L.EAVE ( 04.18 - 04.23 ) After the decontamination procedures for the Moira go off, the captains issue a ship-wide alert to let the crew know that the ship is picking up on something inside each person that boarded the space station. It is speculated that the crew came in contact with an unknown biological contaminant either during the station’s decontamination procedure or sometime after. At this point, they aren’t aware of what will happen to those that are carrying the contaminant, and the captains ask for anybody with experience to head to the Medbay to begin testing. Crew don’t appear to be in any danger, so they are allowed to continue gathering materials and supplies on board the space station at their discretion. (Every time they come and go, they will be made to go through the procedure described above). ☄ FEAR ME, LOVE ME, DO AS I SAY ( 04.24 - 04.28 ) Like most unfortunate things, it seems everything happens all at once. The noises you heard, a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents, become louder. You can’t place where they are coming from at first. You turn, you follow, but the search yields no results. And then, without any warning, it’s crystal clear as “they” begin to creep and move from within the shadows and ruined sections of Del Pascia: the prisoners and workers said to have been relocated by D-E-L. Their voice is one, regardless of how many gather, and they tell you, “You can be happy here” and “I can make you better” shortly after. As always, fearing for the safety of the crew (and despite the disrepair of the Moira from events prior), the captains ask for all those capable to assist with extracting those aboard Del Pascia as quickly as possible before D-E-L tries to lock them inside. Running, after all, is better than dying, and it’s certainly something everyone aboard the Moira has gotten quite good at. |

She waits to feel the slight give of one of the zombies that's holding and dragging her, a sure sign that the body is about to go down. It's when she feels the creature start to buckle and fall that she tears her arm out of its hold and shifts over to be closer to the other one that's got her held down. With a grunt, she slams her head back against the other that's holding her and brings her leg up to kick back as hard as she can.
She's free at that point, and is able to dodge the other hands that reach for her. Without her knife, she isn't able to damage them, but she is good at ducking and running as fast as she possibly can. These things aren't like any zombie she's seen back home, but they're still undead all the same.
"Shoot their heads!" She calls out to Bellamy, right as one of the z's grabs at her. She manages to dodge at first, but its hand catches the hood of her hoodie, and as its hand curls around the fabric she's roughly jerked back toward it. Luckily, it's unzipped in the front and she slips right out of it, rushing forward until she's at Bellamy's side.

Even before Cassandra starts barking out her order, Bellamy's taking aim, shooting one of the nearest to him in the cheek. Two seconds later, he jerks the gun and shoots another that just about has it's grip on her. When she runs towards him, he steps forward almost as if to meet her halfway, shooting again to stop the next one from grabbing at either of them.
Three down, but it isn't like the numbers have been dropped significantly yet.
"Didn't you have a knife? What happened to it?"

Bringing her hand up to touch at his upper arm, she presses firmly to signal that they should get the hell out of there. There's not a chance he has enough rounds to bring all of the z's here down, and she's got nothing to fight with. It would be stupid for them to stay there. She knows they're going to have to fight their way out of this place, with how many undead prisoners are around, but if she can get her knife back it's a fair fight.
"Let's go."
She backs away, keeping her eye on the zombies, until she feels safe enough to turn and run. She's skilled at retracing footsteps so it's really not all that long before she's wrapping around a corner and rushing over to grab hold of her knife that's still laying discarded on the floor. Her fingers curl around the hilt in a death grip and as she takes to moving upright she notices a couple of z's in close. She swings her arm up as she rises up completely, the leverage enabling her to get her knife through its head at a good enough angle to bring it down quickly. It's not difficult to make quick work of shoving it back and into the ground, and she rushes forward past the other since she's well aware Bellamy has her back. She trusts him to take care of it.
It's clear they have two options here: fight a straight path out and make a beeline back to their ship or slip through the corridors quietly and hope they can slowly sneak their way out.

He's relieved when she finds her knife, glad to no longer be the only one with a weapon. Not that he isn't used to that - but it's always nice to have some backup.
He shoots one, two, the shots not as clean as before because he hasn't stopped moving, but his aim is still good, too used to running through the woods and firing off his gun. "I have extra ammo, but not infinite. We need to get clear of the ship. You're not hurt, are you?"
Look, they're clearly in a rush, but Bellamy will always take the time to ask after injuries. But what form she's in is important when it comes to figuring out how to leave.

Reaching out with her free hand, she takes hold of his and drags him along after her as she takes off down the corridor at a run.
"Come on!" She doesn't keep her hold on him long, just until they turn a corner and come face to face with another group of undead prisoners. She pulls away from him, using her knife to give mercy to a couple. She notices that they're not big on fighting as they are grabbing, although they seem ready to do whatever it takes to get hold of someone to drag them deep inside the prison so they can't escape.
She knows that he doesn't have enough ammo to keep encountering large groups of z's like this, so she tries to pick up the slack, using her experience with giving mercy to the undead back home to take care of these ones. The second they finish off the group they've encountered, she takes off at a run again.

Bellamy jerks his hand free shortly after she takes it, both in knee jerk reaction to the touch and because he wants both his hands available. They can run, but it doesn't mean the route is going to be easy.
The gun is easier, but he has his own knives too. Instead of shooting point blank after they round that corner, Bellamy kills with the blade. But he kicks too, swings his arms and punches, using every bit of his strength and body in the fight alongside the weapon. There is a certain level of brutality in the way he moves, a fight or flight he's already seen in Cassandra just the same.
When the path is free again, he bolts, trailing behind Cassandra and keeping his eyes open in all directions. "Look, clearly we both know what we're doing here, but we need to find a better route, one that's not going to exhaust us before we get to the end. Smaller hallways, quieter ones."

"When we were here earlier in the month, there were side hallways that looked like they were for guards only. There's going to be a door to them right down the next hallway, to the right. If we can get in there, I'm guessing it will be easier."
Her eyes look over to him to try and see if he'll go along with that, and observes him for a moment as she feels her breath start to regulate a little.
"Sorry, by the way. About the hand thing." She feels the need to apologize to him, so that he knows she wasn't doing anything to try and get in his way or hold him back. "You looked so good fighting, I couldn't resist touching." It's easier to turn it into flirting or a joke, something to laugh off.

"We can't get ambushed by a crowd, at least. It's easier to fight one on one, though I'm sure you already know that." He's seen the way she fights against them. It's desperate and familiar again. He'll watch her back, not because she needs him to so much as that's kind of just his M.O. "My vote's for the side hallways. I'll deal with a big rush of these assholes if it means a reprieve after the fact."
There are a few reasons he jerks away from contact, absolutely none of which he wants to go into right now, so it isn't much of a surprise when he just follows up on her joke, even though he can tell she's lying. It's an easy avoidance. He even schools his face into vague amusement. "I'd say there's a time and place, but what's that other saying? Desperate times?" There's a smirk that doesn't reach his eyes. "Next time."

There's a large gathering of the prisoners around the corner, and Cassandra spots the door to the side hallway right past them. She doesn't hesitate as she moves forward, determination in every movement as she attempts to clear as many of the undead as possible so he doesn't have to waste all of his bullets trying to help her out. His life is on the line here too, of course, but it's because of her that he's even caught up in this area.
She fights hard and fast, desperate to get to that door so they can try to find a way out in peace. She's running low on energy and knows that she can keep going even when she's got nothing left in her to give, but doesn't want someone she doesn't know well to see her as weak. It's better for her if he thinks she can kick his ass if it ever comes down to it.
sorry this took so long!
When they find the squadron of prisoners, Bellamy scowls, but at least in this moment it feels like it's laced more out of inconvenience than fear. Not that he isn't afraid - he's just gotten casually good at numbing it.
He follows in behind her and shifts to make his knife his primary weapon at first, even if the gun remains easily accessible. He manages to take out three before he grows too frustrated and switches back over to his gun. The door is so close, and he'd rather take out the roadblock to get to it than waste any more time, especially when he catches a glimpse of of tiredness from her - not a lot, but it's enough to remind him she's been out here today longer than he has. The sooner they get to the hallway, the sooner they can both recharge a little.
He shoots down the ones in the most direct path, aiming over and around Cassandra as she fights back herself. Bellamy's aim is good, having too much opportunity to practice, and though he doesn't kill all of them, he downs enough of them to make moving around less dangerous - not empty, just a little easier. "Door! Now!"
it's okay! we're all in this together
It's instantly quieter in this corridor and she sighs in relief, and waits for him up against the wall. Her head leaned back against it and she shut her eyes, taking in the feel of her heart racing. In some weird way, she had missed this. Even being here a couple of weeks had her feeling out of practice, and this sort of thing was more or less what her day to day routine back home consisted of.
When he made his way into the hallway with her, she promptly moved to shut the door, careful not to slam it. There wasn't any point in drawing more attention to them. "Can we sit for a minute? It's quiet, I think we'll be safe."
i gotta get my head in the game
Bellamy shoves his way bodily through the rest, only shooting one more as he follows her up to the door, using his knife to slash through others that get close enough. He slips inside the corridor not too long after her, tempting to shove his body up against the close door and use himself as a block. He hadn't seen any of the creatures opening any doors, and he hopes that means it's not possible.
But it's quiet in the corridor. The door is still, and Bellamy feels like he can breathe for a moment. At her question, he just nods. He's learned to take breathers while he can, because sometimes the option just flat out isn't there. "Now's a good time. Don't know if we'll get another chance before we're back on the ship."
And he squats, exhaling a little in relief at the stretch of it.
