"Big things have small beginnings."
☄ DECONTAMINATION #2 ( 04.14 - 04.17 ) On the Moira, crew come and go without much hassle. They take a transporter to planets and moons and back again without any fuss... Until today. All crew that try to reboard the Moira coming back from Del Pascia will be denied access, a warning flashing on their MID - Decontamination Required for Entry. It’s a protocol that hasn’t been enacted before, and the MID offers no explanation as to why it is now. The transporter will seal and then be permitted to dock in the Cargo Bay, where the procedure will begin. All crew on the transporter have to dispose of their clothing by placing it inside hazardous waste bags located in a compartment near the front of the craft. After all clothing is stored, a gas-like substance will fill the transporter, breathable yet tasteless, and once it dissipates, crew will be free to go. ☄ D.ON'T E.VER L.EAVE ( 04.18 - 04.23 ) After the decontamination procedures for the Moira go off, the captains issue a ship-wide alert to let the crew know that the ship is picking up on something inside each person that boarded the space station. It is speculated that the crew came in contact with an unknown biological contaminant either during the station’s decontamination procedure or sometime after. At this point, they aren’t aware of what will happen to those that are carrying the contaminant, and the captains ask for anybody with experience to head to the Medbay to begin testing. Crew don’t appear to be in any danger, so they are allowed to continue gathering materials and supplies on board the space station at their discretion. (Every time they come and go, they will be made to go through the procedure described above). ☄ FEAR ME, LOVE ME, DO AS I SAY ( 04.24 - 04.28 ) Like most unfortunate things, it seems everything happens all at once. The noises you heard, a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents, become louder. You can’t place where they are coming from at first. You turn, you follow, but the search yields no results. And then, without any warning, it’s crystal clear as “they” begin to creep and move from within the shadows and ruined sections of Del Pascia: the prisoners and workers said to have been relocated by D-E-L. Their voice is one, regardless of how many gather, and they tell you, “You can be happy here” and “I can make you better” shortly after. As always, fearing for the safety of the crew (and despite the disrepair of the Moira from events prior), the captains ask for all those capable to assist with extracting those aboard Del Pascia as quickly as possible before D-E-L tries to lock them inside. Running, after all, is better than dying, and it’s certainly something everyone aboard the Moira has gotten quite good at. |

[ Here's her reasoning for going back: if she'd already breathed in the bullshit contaminant, what the fuck was the point of retroactively avoiding any of it? Odds were with her abilities, it might not even actually do anything to her. Or worse, it'll hit her harder and then that'll make a whole new party. Basically, damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.
So she might as well do some exploring and maybe harass a robot eye in the sky.
Standing in one of the hallways, she looks up trying to gauge just how high the ledge might be. There's a little internal debate happening until the voice pipes up again and she's jumping. Maybe if she can find the source of the one of the cameras, she can do a service for everyone in this particular area and rip it out. It's fine. Don't worry about it, destruction of property is totally natural. ]
► FEAR ME, LOVE ME, DO AS I SAY
[ You can be happy here. She's heard that before and she has no interest in hearing it over and over and over. When it was clear what was really going on, she decided to use her powers for good - not as a hero... But just helping out. Not everyone on the ship was fully capable of handling themselves and those that could were still more than capable of getting overwhelmed. So, she patrols - looking for groups of the zombie things larger than three. She hears the words echoed again, giving her own quip of a response. ]
That's a shitty promise to make to someone you don't even know.
[ She grabs another one and chucks it at a nearby wall with a little bit of an annoyed sigh. ] At least buy dinner first before trying to seduce me. That's how all the good crazy assholes do it. [ And it definitely doesn't sound like she's speaking from experience on that one. Looking over at the person up the hallway a bit, she gives a little lift of her chin before crossing her arms. ]
You good?
► AWKWARD DECONTAMINATION - closed to Obi-Wan Kenobi
[ Jessica didn't like being told she had no choice in something. That she had to do it or else. Especially if it involved taking her clothes off. Okay, maybe she was a little possessive of the clothes she just got back but they were boots. She didn't have a lot and while she wasn't materialistic, but she'd be damned if they were gonna take this shit away from her again.
When she gets out of the transporter, there's a hand covering her chest - a fading bruise over her ribs on her left side and a scar from a bullet on her upper right arm. Her rage isn't directed at anyone in particular, but it's there and it's not being quashed any time soon. ]
I swear to whatever fucking deity you worship, if I don't get my boots back I'm gonna seriously hurt someone.
► KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES - closed to Bruce Banner
[ Taking on one of these things was all fine and dandy, even two or three... But a whole horde was a little overwhelming, especially when they're all grabbing her and chanting in rhythm. It's too familiar - familiar enough that she can't help but hesitate. She didn't want to be free like that, didn't want to be a mindless zombie again - coming and going at someone else's will.
By the time she snaps herself out of it, when the genuine panic leaves her eyes and she's regained control it's almost too late. ]
Fuck.
[ There's a scramble on the ground as she digs her fingers into the ground before pushing up and off to the side to try and grab a wall. If she could pull hard enough, she might be able to break free from the six or so grabbing her. At least free enough to get away from them and the others - take on a smaller group and get back to the ship. Seemed like a solid enough plan. ]

Which, right now, works pretty great. He tears a metal wall nearby with even more ease than usual, as if it were paper, yanking off a good chunk of it to toss it at the horde trying to get Jessica. Some of them are crushed or hit by it in one way or another, the rest he takes care of by running at them and with a single motion of a large arm, he swats them aside, puny little insects too easily brushed away.
Two still cling to Jess, seemingly unaffected and endlessly persistent, and he grabs one and picks him right up, throwing him across the room with no small amount of force. ]

At least, that's what she's gonna keep telling herself, even as they continue to drag her off. She was an expert at ignoring pain, working through it in an attempt to break free of something. Channel it into energy. But, even with all her attempts to break free, she didn't have quite the same force as the Hulk to just barrel through and take care of business. She made a mistake in the process, though. She'd shifted wrong when they were scrambling to get out of the way and yet somehow keep ahold of her. One of them had wrapped its arms around her ribs in an attempt to pull her to her feet, the other holding an arm when she'd tried to take advantage of no one having her legs anymore. Like an awful bear hug, she feels something shift again and there's a visible wince before she throws an elbow back to break free after the Hulk gets rid of the other one. In a smooth motion, she turns and chucks him away from her like a rag doll before turning to actually take in the sight of the Hulk.
With a shallow breath, a hand hovers over her left side - careful to avoid applying any actual pressure. When she's sure nothing actually re-fractured and it's just really tender, the big green guy gets a serious look - almost indignant... Even if her tone isn't quite so certain. ]
I had that under control.
[ No you didn't and this isn't how you say thank you, Jess. ]

When she speaks, though, remark short and simple enough that he can understand it, his expression twists into something... amused, almost. Lips tense and purse, then curve upwards as he lets out a very audible and very distinct snort, eyes rolling as he tips his head and turns around, fully intending on taking her back to the transporters so she can return to the Moira.
But hey, you're welcome. ]

Maybe it's something she'd bring up at a later time, when shit wasn't hitting the fan. Business mode Jessica is a go. ]
Have you seen Trish down here?
[ She's honest to god hoping she's gonna get a solid 'no' of some sort to that question. That Trish had stayed on the ship where it was safe and her curiosity hadn't gotten the best of her. Of course, if she knew her sister as well as she likes to think she does... Trish was definitely down here somewhere. She just wasn't sure if somebody else had already gotten her to safety. ]
o/
The mention of someone he knows has him glancing over, eyebrows twitching just so. His jaw tenses at the familiar sensation of Bruce's feelings bleeding into him, but the beast ignores it, and nods at first, almost thoughtful before speaking up. ]
Safe. [ So yes, she was here, but isn't anymore. ]
no subject
They give them back.
[ It's said as an aside, and when he looks at the dark haired woman, it's eyes on her face and no wandering. He's a gentleman like that. Or, at least, as gentlemanly as can be standing around pale and naked and barely covered by his own hands. ]
This is my second time through. They've not returned my clothes since the first, but I've been assured we'll get them back.
[ Perhaps it's his way of trying to calm her. The static her upset creates crackles a little too loudly in his mind for Obi-Wan to pass on saying something. ]
No need to worry.
no subject
[ It was gonna take a lot more than an empty promise to calm her down. She knows she can be a pain in the ass and considering he was just as naked as her? Probably not the person who should be on the receiving end of her rage.
Giving a sigh, her grip around herself tightens a little in an effort to make sure nothing else slips out. ]
It's not your fault they're incompetent. [ Trish had been telling her to work on playing nice with others on the ship, she might as well start somewhere. Figures it'd be while she was naked. ]
no subject
I'm aware, but I don't believe they're interested in taking the blame.
[ It's veiled, but his way of saying he doesn't mind the brunt of her upset, even if she can't know how it fully affects him. ]
What's your name? Mine's Obi-Wan Kenobi.
holy hiatus tag catch up batman
Well, then maybe it's time for someone to help them grow the fuck up.
[ That's definitely muttered more to herself because meeting new people in a proper and inviting manner... how do?
Ah yes, introductions. That's right. ]
Jessica. [ Play nice, Jess echoes in her mind, the voice matching that of a particular blonde. So, she takes a breath, biting the inside of her cheek before opening her mouth again. ] I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you, but I don't normally do a lot of talking when I'm naked.
[ /facepalm ]
Sorry this is so late!!
[ He's almost exclusively alone when he's naked, and when he's not, it's usually out in the field where no one can really avoid it. ]
This is an unfortunate set of circumstances, I think you can agree. It probably won't hurt us to be a little conversational.
Have you been here long, Jessica?
fear me
That's what a gun is for. At first he'd gone for non-lethal shots, a shoulder or a kneecap, enough to slow them down. But the more time he's spent down here trying to clear a path for the other crew members, the more he's realized that these prisoners lost any sense of sentience a long time ago.
All he's doing is putting them out of their misery.
He only has so many bullets, though, and it's as he's loading in a new clip that he hears more of them approaching from behind. There's still two slowly making their way toward him from the front, too, and he's going to need to find a way through if he doesn't want to get ambushed.
Except then he hears one of the prisoners behind him slam into the wall, and turns around long enough to see a woman there, smart-mouthing the things. With his clip back in place, Snake shoots the last two on his end and then heads in the woman's direction. ]
Yeah. Thanks. [ He can hear more of them coming, though. ] You looking for someone, or just trying to clear the way?
no subject
Not sure yet. My best friend -- [ She's gonna downplay the sister thing right now because she doesn't need someone to get worked up about trying to save her. ] -- I have a feeling she's doing something stupid like running around out here and probably getting cornered by some of these stupid fucking things.
[ It can't hurt to ask him, right? ]
You haven't seen a perky blonde running around down here, have you?
no subject
Her best friend. Snake can imagine the anxiety that would come with that. If Otacon were stuck on this prison block somewhere and he couldn't find him, he'd definitely be panicking on the inside. And pissed, but that's another issue. ]
A perky blonde? [ Snake echoes her words, then shakes his head. ] I haven't. But I can help you find her.
[ It's not like he wants to stay in this hellhole, but he's equipped to deal with their attackers and he's got a decent sense of the layout by now. ]
no subject
Besides, if Kilgrave had taught her one thing while she'd been hunting him, it was how to play with others to accomplish a goal. She might not do it well, but at least she could do it from time to time.
And this was one of those times. ]
You don't have to if you don't want to. I can handle myself around here -- [ This is a weird way to accept an offer of help, Jess. Try again. ] -- But, I won't say no to an extra set of eyes. [ That's better. ]
no subject
An extra set of eyes is the least that he can offer, but he's also more than capable of fighting the prisoners off if more of them show up. ]
All right. [ No more reason to argue; now it's time to get down to business. ] They seem to be taking people as deep into the prison block as they can. Where have you searched already?
[ It would help if they had a map, but at least Snake has constructed a mental one. ]
GET THEE TO THE MEDBAY SIS (so sorry it took me so long)
If she had felt that she had to make her way over to the station to try and help people, Jessica probably thought the same thing (even if she might deny it). Her sister could be over there right now getting swarmed by those fucking zombies.
Her first instinct is to hop on the first available transporter and get back there, but she knows that wouldn't do any good. Shit!
She should have asked the Hulk to look for her. Maybe he wouldn't have listened, but she should have asked. Brain getting scrambled by terror is no excuse, this is Jess we're talking about.
She starts running back to the decontamination zone anyway and waits anxiously, handing out blankets and clothes to returners until at last she sees Jess coming through. She runs up to wrap a blanket around her sister and hand her some new clothes. ]
God, look at you, you're a mess.
[ That's code for: Oh my god I was so worried I'm so glad you're alive please let me hug you forever. ]
hiatus catch up time and also my turn to be super slow ♥
She may have gone a little over-board.
When she spots Trish, there's both relief and that 'shit why do I have to be naked right now' moment. ]
I know, I'm a real catch.
[ She'll gladly accept the blanket, groaning slightly as she shifts. ]
Do you think they have any saran wrap on board?
[ SHE'S FINE, she just needs to wrap them. It's fine. Everything's fine. ]
