"I feel liberated when I'm doing it, and I want other people to feel liberated through it."
☄ ENJOY YOUR STAY ... IN PRISON Those who choose to go to Del Pascia will find themselves greeted by D-E-L. It has already agreed to terms with the Captains, allowing crew to strip nonessential supplies that aren’t needed since the station’s crew and prisoners were relocated due to funding cuts. The only condition placed upon this agreement is that any crew wishing to explore must undergo a mandatory decontamination before proceeding through the rest of Del Pascia. This process takes only minutes and is guaranteed to cause no physical side effects. Following this simple procedure, exploration is open with only warnings to be careful about damaging key systems. It is important to note that there are various security cameras located throughout the correctional facility, and it is not uncommon for D-E-L to comment or show concern for those exploring parts of Del Pascia. ☄ DEATH BECOMES YOU There is salvage to be found in all parts of the facility, including the cell blocks and infirmaries of the prison wings. However, there is something odd about these sectors, a strange charge in the air that follows you as you search for anything useful to bring back to the Moira. Perhaps it is the eyes of D-E-L watching? But then, after an indiscernible amount of time, it's like a switch is flipped. Suddenly, you are wearing your sins where anyone but you can see. For however much death you have wrought or committed, there will be blood on your hands—perhaps even further than that. This bizarre occurrence will appear as an almost digital skin and will not vanish until outside the cell blocks. If exploring the infirmaries for supplies, any and all health stats throughout your life will be visible and easy to read by anyone who happens to take an interest. ☄ WHAT WAS THAT SOUND? Del Pascia is a very large station and has been abandoned for quite some time. D-E-L will regretfully inform anyone who asks that some nonessential areas have fallen into disrepair. It will warn that exploring these areas can be risky as it has no knowledge of what damage these sections have taken. Regardless of that, if you venture in, you’ll find that these sections are in rather bad shape. Exposed wiring sparks in the walls, a great variety of broken tools are thrown about, and it seems that every camera has been purposely broken. Venturing in further will yield valuable components for salvage, and yet... as before, you suspect you aren’t alone. It isn’t often, but sometimes, you might hear a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents. Every time you go to investigate... whatever made the noise is gone. |

Yeah, I hope so.
[He wrapped an arm around Kaz's shoulder and nodded firmly.] Question is how the hell do we get out?
no subject
[But he's chosen it, at least for now.]
[There's something a little gratifying that he gets to be the support for once. That his stubbornness has given him some sort of strength here, and that he's not having to hobble along and be helped for the slightest thing. He lets Ahab hold onto him.]
They have transports coming to and from the station. You should stay on the ship. Especially since Sn- B-
[Then he realizes he's never been comfortable even calling him "John". Big Boss never gave him that name (Even if he knows it). Kaz has only ever been allowed "Snake".] Since Ishmael is here.
no subject
Transports, right. [At least that was something comforting. The blood would surely fade then, right? Snake didn't want an image of himself covered in blood for people to see forever. They'd truly believe he was some kind of demon then. At Kaz's last words Ahab smiled a little. He knew it must be hard for the man to speak about the two versions of him all the time.]
It's alright, Kaz. [As if sensing his friend's slight discomfort Ahab patted the blond on the shoulder.]
no subject
And it was just a slip-up. It doesn't matter. You're both Snake and Big Boss.
[He says it firmly, convincing himself that it's alright. It's fine. He's dealing with this. Even if he knows in his heart that one man can accept he's covered in blood here, and the other man couldn't. Not in the same way.]
no subject
[He smiled at the thought of being so many men under so many names. Why did it have to be so complicated? Ahab suited him just fine. Yet, Ocelot and Kaz called him Boss. To him he was Boss. Also, the men back at Mother Base believed he was Boss, so he was. He had to be.]
We'll get back there, Kaz. I know it. Mother Base. Our true home. They can't keep us here forever. [Could they? The men needed them back there. They needed him. Big Boss. Ahab.]
no subject
[Still something to Ahab. But to him, he knows it will just be another platform in the middle of the ocean one day.]
You'll handle yourself just like you need to do. [And Miller's going to make sure that he doesn't die just so 'Big Boss' can survive. All this bullshit about how there can be only one 'Big Boss'. After saying in the previous breath that both men are. Whatever this plot is, he wants it done.]
[He slows down with him when they get near the docks.]
no subject
I'm just glad we got away from that prison. You didn't experience any hallucinations did you? [Because he heard screaming. That wasn't part of it, was it?]
Maybe the AI was messing with my head but I saw them, Kaz. The men screaming. The ones I shot back at Mother Base. [The infected.]
no subject
Boss. They needed you to do that. The entire base did. And I'm sorry you had to go through that. No one should have had to.
[Huey deserved a worse ending. He was told to let it go, but now he has a revenge that he plans to see through. The worst he can deliver.] I know you won't stop blaming yourself, but those men gave you strength on the battlefield.
no subject
Must be this. [He tapped the tip of his horn and sighed. Damn thing.]
I know. There was no other way. I just can't help but see their faces in my dreams at night. [He forced himself to not think about it but it was there right on his conscience. He knew it had to be done it just wasn't him. Killing innocents wasn't in his characters at all. He wasn't a cold-blooded killer who didn't give a shit about others. No. Not his own men.]
Yeah. Sometimes I wish I didn't have this thing in my head giving me these damn nightmares.
no subject
[He's always in pain, though. Worse than he admits now. He lives with it all the time.]
I don't think that's just the shrapnel doing that. Not when it happens to me, too.
no subject
You don't have to be in pain now, Kaz. We can both heal together. This life we have now aboard the Moira, we can use this to try and heal the pain we share. [A break from Cipher surely. It wasn't a permanent fix for the pain but surely it could help? Snake sighed. He wasn't the only one having the nightmares. His friend had suffered even more than he and he wanted him to try and heal, not deal with pain everyday.]
We can do this. A life without pain. It is possible.
no subject
[The literal pain anyway. The time away from Cipher, thinking about other things, obviously has helped Kaz some. He smiles more. Was capable of forgiving Big Boss (to some extent). Allowed himself to get prosthetics.]
It still hurts real bad. It was ten days out there. [Waiting to die.] They didn't exactly take good care of me. My nerves are shot. Just like that shrapnel they can't remove in you. [He lifts his fake hand and looks through it. Then lets it drop again.]
But I'm making due. That's enough.
no subject
I should have got there sooner and I'm sorry, Kaz. You shouldn't have gone through all that. Not for me. [Snake felt like he didn't deserve all of his friend's ordeal for him. The man had lost so much. His mental as well as physical state had been damaged. All to save Big Boss.]
You're one of the bravest men I've met. [He looked at the blond and offered him a warm smile, placing his good hand on Kaz's, squeezing softly.]
Don't be alone. Don't hide your pain. I want you to share it with me so we can both heal together.
no subject
[He can't even remember his code name. Just that he was a regular medic.]
[It's a shame.]
[He looks down at the hand on his. And, it's on reflex more than anything that he says-] I'm fine. [He never could stand feeling so weak. If he heals... It's too difficult to acknowledge how broken he is.] It's okay. I'm fine. I'm not the one hallucinating... I'm just saying I can at least understand why your dreams are hard. [He gives his a rough squeeze, one of those that reminds him that he's there.] Come one. I'll get you onto the transport. I don't need to go back yet, but I will later.
no subject
We probably share the same dreams. Cipher installed those in our heads but we can erase them with good memories. [That was how he was going to look at it.]
You'll be alright on your own? [It was a reflex response. He couldn't help it.]
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, I'll be alright.
See? I can stand up again. Leg's working. I'm right as rain.
[He doesn't want Venom worrying about him.]
no subject
Don't want you saying that then falling over on me. [He was half-joking but had a serious tone in his voice too. One of concern and worry. If anything happened to you again, Kaz, he'd blame himself like he always did. Snake readied himself to get off the platform.]
I'll be in touch.
