"I feel liberated when I'm doing it, and I want other people to feel liberated through it."
☄ ENJOY YOUR STAY ... IN PRISON Those who choose to go to Del Pascia will find themselves greeted by D-E-L. It has already agreed to terms with the Captains, allowing crew to strip nonessential supplies that aren’t needed since the station’s crew and prisoners were relocated due to funding cuts. The only condition placed upon this agreement is that any crew wishing to explore must undergo a mandatory decontamination before proceeding through the rest of Del Pascia. This process takes only minutes and is guaranteed to cause no physical side effects. Following this simple procedure, exploration is open with only warnings to be careful about damaging key systems. It is important to note that there are various security cameras located throughout the correctional facility, and it is not uncommon for D-E-L to comment or show concern for those exploring parts of Del Pascia. ☄ DEATH BECOMES YOU There is salvage to be found in all parts of the facility, including the cell blocks and infirmaries of the prison wings. However, there is something odd about these sectors, a strange charge in the air that follows you as you search for anything useful to bring back to the Moira. Perhaps it is the eyes of D-E-L watching? But then, after an indiscernible amount of time, it's like a switch is flipped. Suddenly, you are wearing your sins where anyone but you can see. For however much death you have wrought or committed, there will be blood on your hands—perhaps even further than that. This bizarre occurrence will appear as an almost digital skin and will not vanish until outside the cell blocks. If exploring the infirmaries for supplies, any and all health stats throughout your life will be visible and easy to read by anyone who happens to take an interest. ☄ WHAT WAS THAT SOUND? Del Pascia is a very large station and has been abandoned for quite some time. D-E-L will regretfully inform anyone who asks that some nonessential areas have fallen into disrepair. It will warn that exploring these areas can be risky as it has no knowledge of what damage these sections have taken. Regardless of that, if you venture in, you’ll find that these sections are in rather bad shape. Exposed wiring sparks in the walls, a great variety of broken tools are thrown about, and it seems that every camera has been purposely broken. Venturing in further will yield valuable components for salvage, and yet... as before, you suspect you aren’t alone. It isn’t often, but sometimes, you might hear a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents. Every time you go to investigate... whatever made the noise is gone. |

He'd been walking, not paying much attention, until he'd heard the voice.]
Is that the job they gave you? Water filtration.
[He readjusts the bag on his shoulder, sticking his hand out.]
I'm Danny. Danny Holt.
no subject
Yeah, it is. Do you know much about this place?
[A handshake? From what he knew in his databases, it was an old human ritual that started as a way to show someone you weren't armed and meant no harm. It couldn't hurt to be amicable and from how it sounded, this Danny Holt sounded like he knew more about this ship than Zero did...some tact would probably benefit him he decided. To that end, he took hold of Danny's hand and gave it a firm shake.]
You can call me Zero.
no subject
[Danny was no expert of anything on this ship, but he did know his way around and had the general gist of what was going on.]
Nice to meet you, Zero. I like that, your name.
[He's given the tour a few times before, told people what he knows, and he's realized it's easier to let them tell him what questions they have.]
I can do my best to help, to tell you what I know.
no subject
[It was subtle with a strong end to it, like a rolling wave just before it crashed on shore. He wanted to simply ask about everything Danny knew, but that might be too broad a subject to broach in one conversation...it was better to start small and work from there.]
Well, first things first. Do you know why people are brought here? It seems kind of strange that a ship would randomly pull someone off their world just because it needed crew members.
[If the Ingress was a machine that was acting of its own volition, then he had to assume that it was something like a Mechaniloid. And if it was something like a Mechaniloid, then there was a 1% chance that it could be under the effects of something akin to the Sigma Virus...and if that was the case...
he'd burn that bridge when he came to it.]
no subject
[Danny had always assumed his name was plain, average, like himself, which makes it refreshing and unusual to hear someone say that about it. None of that is really important, though.
The questions, right.]
The Ingress is broken. From what I understand of it, it's basically meant to help with transportation. Bring people from one place to the next easily. The planets we stop on have them, too.
[He slips his hands into his pockets, scuffing his toe on the floor.]
Somehow they're all broken and nobody knows why. People show up on the planet Ingresses or they show up on the Moira. The captains offer us jobs and living quarters so that we can all go to the place that can fix the machine. Some of the crew stay because they want to go home. Some stay because it's better than the unknown.
no subject
That was just a theory, but it wasn't one he was eager to test.
Right now he wished he had some familiar council to seek; Signas, Aila, or X would be able to help him formulate a plan better...but for right now, he was stuck as was.]
I see. So there's a chance the Moira might pass one of our worlds and drop us off? That'd be a convenient scenario.
[And also highly improbably if you asked him.]
Has that happened before that you know of?
no subject
[Danny isn't even sure what universe this was, the specifics or anything like that. He's never been to outer space before and what he'd learned of it in school was nothing like this.]
I don't think it has, but I haven't been here as long as some of the others.
[Though, now that they're talking about it, Danny doesn't know if he'd want to go back. Sure, Earth was normal, familiar, but he didn't have anything to go back to. No reason to want to be there. No family, and the friends he'd had would be fine without him.
Here, in space, on this ship, he'd met people he would actually not want to leave.]
Would you go back, if you could?
no subject
I see. Well then, I guess this is going to be HQ for a while then. At least its better than some of the other places I've been held in.
[Definitely better than that tiny electro-cage Vile had crammed him into, that was for sure.]
I have to go back. Back on Earth, there are Reploids like me and robots called Mechaniloids; sometimes due to a glitch in their systems or because of a virus, they disregard all life and begin to attack anything and everything they can. We call them Mavericks and I'm a Maverick Hunter; sometimes we're the only ones standing in the way of massive losses of life...and if I'm not there, then they're only going to have more trouble as time goes on.
[And the more problems they had, the closer things came to another incident. From Sigma right down through Lumine, Zero had seen it all and he knew that peace was always just a fleeting whisper...the longer he was away, the more time there was for problems to brew without him being able to do anything about it.]
no subject
[Danny frowns, shaking his head at the memories. The events of Caducus that he'd heard about, the creature on the ship. The people that got hurt.]
But as long as you contribute in some way, the captains don't seem to mind what we do. I work and then I can do whatever I want. They say they'll take me home, but this is the quietest living I've ever had.
[Oh. Zero had a purpose then. A reason that he had to go back to his home that was larger than feelings or desire or anything that he might want. He couldn't imagine that kind of responsibility, isn't sure that he'd want it himself, but he respects anyone that wants to help and protect.]
Then I hope you can go back soon. Since you're needed and you want to.
no subject
[There was still a lot he had to do back on earth. People to protect, a world to help towards a brighter tomorrow, and people to see that tomorrow with. But Zero had always been an "in the moment" kind of reploid, and as his situation stood...]
But for now, there's people here who need me too. It might just be to make sure they have clean water to drink and bathe in, but that has its importance, especially in this situation. And if an enemy appears here that's going to cause problems for the crew...
[His gaze sharpened and his hand twitched, as if it were instinctively drawn towards the saber hilt resting on his back.]
I won't hesitate to destroy it.
no subject
You're very positive, it's refreshing.
[Being responsible for the water didn't sound like a glamorous job, but someone had to do it. He immediately felt respect towards Zero, a strong wave of it.]
Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but it's comforting to know that you would help protect the people here.
[His eyes flick down.]
What's that?
no subject
[He actually can't help but to crack a smile at that, the sheer ridiculousness of the statement was enough by itself.]
Never thought I'd hear someone say that, I'm not exactly a ray of sunshine you know.
[He notices where your eyes are going and not seeing any real danger to it, holds up a strange looking sword hilt.]
This is a modified beam saber, normally standard issue for Maverick Hunter elite ground forces. This one's got a hair trigger ignition system, it lets me strike more effectively from the draw and keeps those on the receiving end from knowing how long the blade actually is.
