Rogue- Basic Self Defense
[Rogue looks at the assembled group in front of her, and nods approvingly. This was a big step- sure, it was a basic class, but she'd never actually taught before. Not really. Hopefully, she'd do a decent enough job.]
Hey, ya'll. So welcome to Basic Self Defense, or whatever it says. I'm still trying to figure out a catchy name for it. My name's Rogue, and I'll be your teacher.
I'm sure you're wondering what makes me qualified to teach this, over Logan or Shepard. Well, for starters- Logan's the one that trained me. Second of all, I'm actually sort of a member of what kids at my school called the X-Men. [She was, she realized, the only active X-Man on this ship. That was pretty cool, actually.] Essentially, I'm a superhero. [The kids at school always said that. Superheroes. It was fun to think about, and it's got her smiling, just a little. They were a weird team. But they were a team.]
Which brings me to the first rule of this class: for your safety, do not touch my skin. If you feel more comfortable in class wearing a pair of gloves, I invite you to bring them. [It's awkward, explaining her mutation without explaining it. She doesn't want her students to worry, but she doesn't want them to hurt themselves. Telling them just not to touch her was the best option.]
Other than that, we'll deal with rules as they arrive. So, without any ado, let's get cracking. Everyone, two laps of the gym, and when you're done, start stretching out on the mats.
[She totally had this. Right?]
to defeat the huns-- after class
[After class, Rogue's hanging back, trying to hear what people are saying about her and her teaching style. Again, she'd never done this, and while by the time she'd started class, her anxiety had been pushed to the back burner, it was coming a lot harder now. What if everyone dropped?
So she hangs back, slowly packing up. If you want to chat, by all means, she'll be happy to talk.]
after class
So, he has to ask her. ]
I'm sorry if it's rude to ask but why can't anyone touch your skin?
no subject
But they couldn't account for that, not fully. So they needed to know that her bare skin was dangerous. Hopefully, everyone here would understand. Though she hadn't been so sure.
Rogue's taking a drink of her water bottle, a small towel around her neck when Stan approaches. She straightens up, setting the bottle down after capping it. time to face the music.] I'm what people in my world call a mutant- it means i've got some sort of mutation, usually what manifests as a sort of power. There area few of us here, and I promise you, we're all good people.
[Except Erik but she didn't know that yet.]

I met one. I know it doesn't mean bad...[ Well he's met a couple but he doesn't really know it fully. Kurt was really nice and it's a thing in Stan that he has to get over about feeling unsettled and maybe a little afraid of something that he isn't used to and didn't used to have a place in his view of the natural order of the world. ]
What's yours? Is your skin poisonous like a Dart frog?
no subject
Yeah? Who'd you meet? Other than me, I mean. [She smiles at him reassuringly. So far he seems to be taking it well, even going so far as to come up with his own explanation for her skin condition. That gets just the smallest flicker of amusement from her.] Kind of? It could really hurt you, if I touched you. And I'd rather avoid hurting you or anyone else on this ship.

He knew he was nice, though, and not trying to scare him. ]
Oh. I see. [ His brow furrows because well he thinks that could be scary to worry about and lonely too. He doesn't say as much and he doesn't really find himself afraid so much as unsettled by knowledge that doesn't come with any real understanding. ]
Thank you for telling me.

He's a really great guy, he just lost the genetic lottery. Or won, I guess you could say if that's how you see it. [She shrugs softly. She saw it as losing, with regards to his physical mutations. Totally a win when it came to his powers, though.]
You're welcome. Thank you for asking. If you have any questions... I guess let me know? I try not to use my powers when I don't have to.
no subject
But there's the human side of it, that he can understand from her explanation that he doesn't need the science to comprehend. ]
I see. [ He smiles a little, that's his way. ] I'll let you know.

[Rogue echoes his smile.] And if you don't feel comfortable in my class anymore, I understand.
[She'd be really sad, but she doesn't want to scare one of Eddie's friends.]
