Elizabeth DeWitt - Physics (Intro through Advanced)
[Elizabeth has never taught another person in her entire life. Especially in an academic setting. So of course, her first few lessons she's terribly nervous and her voice shakes at points. Her mastery of the material is clear, she can answer any question--]
[But she also has a tendency to overanswer and stray into far more difficult topics that nobody asked about. She only catches herself when she catches the class looking at her blankly.]
[It's a bit of a rough start. She stays after in the room to unravel some of the knots she's tangled in her students' heads, but also to just recenter herself before she has to appear confident in front of anybody else.]
[Gentle Hazing]
So-- [Elizabeth's facing the board, pen going over the board quickly, writing formulas from memory to demonstrate the principle.] --the concept of transferring momentum is the principle by which a classic Newton's cradle--
[A paper airplane lodges itself in her hair and she freezes with her pen in the air. As she turns slowly, the paper airplane falls out and drops to the ground. Elizabeth's very large, very blue eyes harden on the class, and her heels clicking as she moves to picks up the rogue projectile.]
[And she straightens and holds it up, examining the construction.] Hm. Interesting. [She looks back to the class.] Who threw this?
[Into the Lab]
[Really, probably the best way to demonstrate physics is not from memorizing formulas, but demonstrating concepts. And so, it's time to take it to the lab.]
Centrifugal force is what allows me to do this-- [Elizabeth takes a cup with a string, strung through two holes in either side (much like a bucket with a handle), and pours water into it. Then she takes the loop and swings it in a circle.] --and not end up drenched. If you create enough of the force, gravity doesn't have a chance to create a mess. Alright. [She slows the cup without spilling a drop, and holds it out for a student to take.] Go ahead, give it a shot.
[Or Just Wildcard It, I'm Easy!]

Rogue- Basic Self Defense
[Rogue looks at the assembled group in front of her, and nods approvingly. This was a big step- sure, it was a basic class, but she'd never actually taught before. Not really. Hopefully, she'd do a decent enough job.]
Hey, ya'll. So welcome to Basic Self Defense, or whatever it says. I'm still trying to figure out a catchy name for it. My name's Rogue, and I'll be your teacher.
I'm sure you're wondering what makes me qualified to teach this, over Logan or Shepard. Well, for starters- Logan's the one that trained me. Second of all, I'm actually sort of a member of what kids at my school called the X-Men. [She was, she realized, the only active X-Man on this ship. That was pretty cool, actually.] Essentially, I'm a superhero. [The kids at school always said that. Superheroes. It was fun to think about, and it's got her smiling, just a little. They were a weird team. But they were a team.]
Which brings me to the first rule of this class: for your safety, do not touch my skin. If you feel more comfortable in class wearing a pair of gloves, I invite you to bring them. [It's awkward, explaining her mutation without explaining it. She doesn't want her students to worry, but she doesn't want them to hurt themselves. Telling them just not to touch her was the best option.]
Other than that, we'll deal with rules as they arrive. So, without any ado, let's get cracking. Everyone, two laps of the gym, and when you're done, start stretching out on the mats.
[She totally had this. Right?]
to defeat the huns-- after class
[After class, Rogue's hanging back, trying to hear what people are saying about her and her teaching style. Again, she'd never done this, and while by the time she'd started class, her anxiety had been pushed to the back burner, it was coming a lot harder now. What if everyone dropped?
So she hangs back, slowly packing up. If you want to chat, by all means, she'll be happy to talk.]

nill | ota
Between classes, she spends a lot of time in the library or the gardens reading assigned texts or doing basic math exercises. She carries her school notebook close to her chest, arms folded over it protectively. She knows she's a little bit of a slow reader and her handwriting isn't the best, so she tries to practice as much as possible. She also doodles every now and then, mostly plants from the gardens and a set of red eyes over and over again, but occasionally she tries her hand at drawing people on the ship. Phys Ed isn't her favorite class, but she does her best, excelling only at running and basically nothing else. But she'd get an A for effort, if there were grades. As it is, Nill always seems very excited to be in class, sitting near the front of the room and always writing some kind of notes to herself.
