November World Travel
Who: Anyone and everyone
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
[While the Trials themselves are intended to be logged here, an update will offer more information on the Awakening experienced by the successful. This will come out on November 23rd! For questions, please head to the recent mod update.]
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
Without warning, the silvery light that appeared to bring new people from other worlds and old items from home appears once more, and this time it lingers, forming portals as tall as an average human near each of the three Ingress shrines. The location does not appear to be a coincidence; this time, the portals are translucent, revealing the destination on the other side. Instead of taking Avagi's residents to the future, it will take them to another world. If they step through the portal, travelers will find something far different from where they've been living this last month: Kaittos, a peaceful world containing one large land mass and a scattering of lived-on islands across a clear blue ocean. On the mainland, a large city-state occupies the central region and southern coast and resembles what some travelers from some versions of Earth might know of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. ![]() Bustling and lively, the city is clean and well provided-for due to the temperate climate and the bountiful natural resources found on its northern side; orchards, farms and forests extend into the distance, butting up against a small mountain range. The technology level is low compared to Avagi, with carriages and candles in place rather than cars and electric lights, but the craftsmen of the world have managed some very impressive mechanical feats. Kaittans, the local residents of the world appear somewhat humanoid, but the bipedal race has hooves rather than feet, silvery skin and three eyes with vertical pupils. Although there is no sign of any other sentient species in the world, the locals are nonetheless excited to meet their guests, rather than suspicious or afraid; for some reason, they are not surprised that aliens exist, merely that they are here. In the weeks to come, the stabilized portals will provide a respite from the more confined lifestyle aboard Avagi. Travelers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to explore the land. Some things they'll find include...

But the user isn't wrong. He's after something bigger.
When he rolls back to his feet, one disk slings out ahead: a bright, clear streak for the cracked wall. It slams into the fault, leaving a half a dozen close-packed bodies and more swarming out, enraged at the attack. Rinzler's still weaving and cutting his way into reach, but the opaque mask tilts up, a glance for confirmation.
Was she watching?
There.]

How about she helps with that?
She doesn’t have the voice to call out a warning, but no matter. The black and red creature has shown himself to be adept at evading her attacks when she is aiming for him. He’ll have only a few moments to notice the crumbling wall begin to buckle outwards before it explodes into large chunks of heavy stone. But rather than fly outward in a predictable trajectory, those pieces of stone then seem to take on a mind of their own, swirling through the air and smashing into any of the insects not fast enough to fly out of the way.
The hole the Big Sister has created isn’t large enough to threaten the structural integrity of the nest—but it should be just big enough for an agile fighter to slip into the chamber housing their target below.]

The enforcer's frame stays low, ready and balanced as he assesses the trajectory of the swirling debris. Then he moves. Zigzagging through the bug-swarm, leaping up to kick off one of the suspended rocks. Rinzler twists through the maze of clutter in a graceful, fluid dance, disappearing through the widened crack with the same speed. Apart from the spinning mix of rocks and bugs, Big Sister's view will be almost quiet for one moment.
Two.
Three.
Then the wall explodes, and something massive lurches its way out. Segmented limbs and a distended abdomen. A body twice the length of even a tall human. Cutting jaws gnash with a sharp screech as the hive queen thrashes clear of the opening—trying to kick off the dark shape currently slicing through one wing.
Target: got.]

The Big Sister’s leap is more forceful than fluid, boots connecting hard with the space where the beast’s head meets its body. She follows it up with a needle through the same spot, over and over again as she stays low to avoid the creature’s gnashing jaws. She can barely see through the silver swarm and even if she could, she doesn’t know how this thing is built or what its weak points may be—but if she draws enough ichor, she hopes that won’t matter.]
