November World Travel
Who: Anyone and everyone
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
[While the Trials themselves are intended to be logged here, an update will offer more information on the Awakening experienced by the successful. This will come out on November 23rd! For questions, please head to the recent mod update.]
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
Without warning, the silvery light that appeared to bring new people from other worlds and old items from home appears once more, and this time it lingers, forming portals as tall as an average human near each of the three Ingress shrines. The location does not appear to be a coincidence; this time, the portals are translucent, revealing the destination on the other side. Instead of taking Avagi's residents to the future, it will take them to another world. If they step through the portal, travelers will find something far different from where they've been living this last month: Kaittos, a peaceful world containing one large land mass and a scattering of lived-on islands across a clear blue ocean. On the mainland, a large city-state occupies the central region and southern coast and resembles what some travelers from some versions of Earth might know of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. ![]() Bustling and lively, the city is clean and well provided-for due to the temperate climate and the bountiful natural resources found on its northern side; orchards, farms and forests extend into the distance, butting up against a small mountain range. The technology level is low compared to Avagi, with carriages and candles in place rather than cars and electric lights, but the craftsmen of the world have managed some very impressive mechanical feats. Kaittans, the local residents of the world appear somewhat humanoid, but the bipedal race has hooves rather than feet, silvery skin and three eyes with vertical pupils. Although there is no sign of any other sentient species in the world, the locals are nonetheless excited to meet their guests, rather than suspicious or afraid; for some reason, they are not surprised that aliens exist, merely that they are here. In the weeks to come, the stabilized portals will provide a respite from the more confined lifestyle aboard Avagi. Travelers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to explore the land. Some things they'll find include...

someone just finished talking to hunk :|
Anger that he'd fallen into a stupid coma at all.]
Shiro!
[Without even a moment to think about it, she's running down the hall to catch up with him. And as soon as she's within reach, she rears an arm back and slaps him across the face.]
i love her
[That's literally all he gets out before she just cracks him across the jaw. Which would probably not be that big of a deal on a normal day -- sorry Pidge. But today? With him wobbling into walls?]
[Yeah, it knocks him flat on his ass on the ground.]
good
A whole week. [She knows Hunk already told him off, but it's her turn now, dammit.] What the fuck.
no subject
I didn't do this on purpose. I was --
Pidge, I got sent back!
[Somehow. He thought he'd been gone maybe a month. Maybe more. But a week... how ever the time worked was anyone's guess.]
I don't know how it happened! But no one gave me a say in this!
no subject
[Her voice cracks a little bit when she says that, and there's the tiniest quiver in her chin, but she is still glaring for all she's worth.]
I don't care that the Ingress or whatever did it, okay?! No one knew what to do!
no subject
[He legitimately doesn't know what to say. Other than that. What... do any of them want him to say to this? That he knows he let them down? He knows he somehow completely screwed up?]
[He is sorry.]
[Like he'd told Hunk. He'd wanted to be better. To stop putting everything on himself. But this... hadn't helped.]
Pidge. I'm sorry. I... If I had a say in this, it wouldn't have happened.
The last thing I want is to hurt any of you.
no subject
For the moment, the apology is enough. It's at least enough to make her stop glaring quite so hard at him, her eyes start getting watery instead.] ..We- We can't lose you, okay?
no subject
[Lance's voice, repeating again and again what he'd been trying so hard to avoid happening. And here it is. Right there in Pidge's face, in her words and the tears she's not shedding. He's still no closer to a solution. But... he's here. He's still here.]
[Screw it. He reaches out, and pulls her in. Even if she punches him again, he wants to give her this reassurance. Hold onto her -- show her he's really here.]
You won't. You're not going to. I'm not letting that happen to you.
no subject
..I'm glad you're okay.
no subject
Yeah. Me too.
[And then, he hesitates. Chewing his lip for a second. She already knows this. The others told her as much. But... it can't hurt to affirm it, can it?]
... I saw Matt. [Quietly. Honestly.] You found a video feed, in the prison we were breaking people out of. You pulled the files.
no subject
Yes, Hunk and the others had told her. She'd found out that Matt was alive. But they hadn't told her much else, either because they didn't know the details or had forgotten them or had chosen not to say anything. So this... This felt different.]
... Did you break him out, too? [She's desperate for details this time. She still keenly feels the loss of Lance and Keith from their team, is still fresh from nearly losing Shiro to some kind of coma, and it's been so long since anyone's said anything-- Pidge needs to know. Her eyes are glossy again as she stares up at Shiro, silently pleading with him. Is he okay? Is he free?]
no subject
[The words feel like lead weights. They feel too heavy for the look in her eyes. More than anything he wants to give her good news. Give her something more to hold onto. Especially now. He should have better words. Should be able to reassure her more than he can.]
[Pidge deserves that.]
[His hands find her shoulders. Holding on gently and firmly. Hoping she won't pull or look away. Not yet.]
He was alive -- he was in one piece. Someone else got there, and broke him out.
[Someone else rescued him. Did what he couldn't do. What... neither of them had been able to do. He feels like he should apologize to her. But the words just stick. He knows -- now -- getting away hadn't been up to him. It had been totally out of his hands, out of his control. But it still feels as if he should have tried harder to keep her family together.]
no subject
She presses back into a hug, squeezing tight. Matt's alive. Free from the Galra - Hunk hadn't mentioned that part, had he? - and alive. Now it would just be a matter of finding out who had freed him and how to track them down. Easier than trying to figure out which Galra transport might be carrying the right group of prisoners. Not by much, but it's still something.
And Pidge clings to that.]
I'll find him. [No, scratch that-] We'll find him. I- I think our odds just got better.
[And then, in a voice that's just a little bit shakier-] Th-Thanks, Shiro. For confirming that. I mean, I believed the others when they told me before, but hearing it again is- is good. It's so, so good.
no subject
[It is something. It's more than they had before. It's even a little more than before. Something to show they can keep going. They're not wrong to keep hoping. Even if he'd never have thought so himself... having real, tangible proof is huge.]
You will. [Because he believes it. Completely and utterly. She'll find him. They'll get home again. It's going to be all right.] You absolutely will.
[He can only nod, then. Tighten the hug a little more. Bow his head over her.]
I'm glad. I'm... I'm so glad we found it.
