November World Travel
Who: Anyone and everyone
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
[While the Trials themselves are intended to be logged here, an update will offer more information on the Awakening experienced by the successful. This will come out on November 23rd! For questions, please head to the recent mod update.]
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
Without warning, the silvery light that appeared to bring new people from other worlds and old items from home appears once more, and this time it lingers, forming portals as tall as an average human near each of the three Ingress shrines. The location does not appear to be a coincidence; this time, the portals are translucent, revealing the destination on the other side. Instead of taking Avagi's residents to the future, it will take them to another world. If they step through the portal, travelers will find something far different from where they've been living this last month: Kaittos, a peaceful world containing one large land mass and a scattering of lived-on islands across a clear blue ocean. On the mainland, a large city-state occupies the central region and southern coast and resembles what some travelers from some versions of Earth might know of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. ![]() Bustling and lively, the city is clean and well provided-for due to the temperate climate and the bountiful natural resources found on its northern side; orchards, farms and forests extend into the distance, butting up against a small mountain range. The technology level is low compared to Avagi, with carriages and candles in place rather than cars and electric lights, but the craftsmen of the world have managed some very impressive mechanical feats. Kaittans, the local residents of the world appear somewhat humanoid, but the bipedal race has hooves rather than feet, silvery skin and three eyes with vertical pupils. Although there is no sign of any other sentient species in the world, the locals are nonetheless excited to meet their guests, rather than suspicious or afraid; for some reason, they are not surprised that aliens exist, merely that they are here. In the weeks to come, the stabilized portals will provide a respite from the more confined lifestyle aboard Avagi. Travelers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to explore the land. Some things they'll find include...

Do you do this often? Agree to race strangers that intrude on your quiet time?
[She's waiting until he looks ready before starting to actually swim out further.]
no subject
He floats on his back in deeper water, smiling up at the sky.] You always ask strangers to race you out into the water after intruding their quiet time?
no subject
[But he's right, they are strangers. It's best to remedy that.]
I'm Clara, by the way.
no subject
Good Company is like, my middle name. Peter "Good Company" Maximoff. It's got a good ring to it, doesn't it?
no subject
[She glances over at him with a smirk, before really picking it up and starting to swim. She's starting to discover it's hard to do with the waves getting bigger and her dress weighing her down so much. In fact, she ends up taking a wave to the face, and ends up sputtering. Smooth.]
How good are you at dragging people through the water, Mr. Good Company?
no subject
[He swims closer, glancing back at the beach.] We going back to land?
no subject
If I take off my dress, do you promise not to think I'm awful?
no subject
[He offers his elbow and upper arm to her. As strange as it is to be A-OK with someone he just met stripping down, he's more or less concerned with her not getting in over her head with another wave. Awkwardness can settle in after he knows she's not about to sink.] Here, grab on and I'll take us back in a bit so your feet can at least touch ground a little easier.
no subject
I'm fully capable of swimming, you know. It's just this bloody thing is weighing me down.
[Her being short means it takes her a little longer than him to reach a place where her feet touch ground. As soon as she does, her dress is pulled up and over her head and is thrown back toward shore. She makes sure it lands far enough up it won't wash away, because the last thing she needs is to force Peter to go make a trade on her behalf because she lost her dress in the ocean.]
Now. About that race?
no subject
Wait, hold on. Now you've got an advantage. [His jeans are a weighted denim nightmare that he already regrets, made worse by gravity now that he's standing upright. He hesitates with his thumb through a belt loop, tugging them higher up on his hips.]
God, I didn't think this through. I don't know what's worse - trying to swim with my jeans on or trying to take them off now that they're soaked.
no subject
If you don't want my having an unfair advantage, you know what you have to do.
no subject
He turns back around to look at her, walking backward toward the beach and unfastening his belt as he goes.] Or judge me for my boxers. I have one pair until I find more in space and plaid is pretty universal. I could've been wearing worse patterns.
Give me a sec. [He asks, water draining from his clothes as he staggers toward the sand; scooping up her dress on the way to put it at a safer distance from the tide. Working to get his jeans off, he casts a glance back up at her.] This should've been step number one.
no subject
[Recklessly leaping in head first into situations is her new favorite thing in life. Controlling things and plotting out the way things should be done is well and good when she's telling other people what they should be doing. But when it comes to her, she much prefers doing things this way. ]
Besides, now I'll always remember you trying to wiggle out of wet jeans. That's one hell of a first impression.
no subject
Alright, alright, let's get back to it.
no subject
Should we establish what the winner gets? Just for added incentive.
[And so she can have more to gloat over, since she fully intends on trying to win. She's even stretching out her arms right now so she can swim better.]
no subject
He splashes a little water her way.] You got any better ideas?
