November World Travel
Who: Anyone and everyone
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
[While the Trials themselves are intended to be logged here, an update will offer more information on the Awakening experienced by the successful. This will come out on November 23rd! For questions, please head to the recent mod update.]
When: Nov. 9 and onward
Where: Kaittos
What: A new path opens up
Without warning, the silvery light that appeared to bring new people from other worlds and old items from home appears once more, and this time it lingers, forming portals as tall as an average human near each of the three Ingress shrines. The location does not appear to be a coincidence; this time, the portals are translucent, revealing the destination on the other side. Instead of taking Avagi's residents to the future, it will take them to another world. If they step through the portal, travelers will find something far different from where they've been living this last month: Kaittos, a peaceful world containing one large land mass and a scattering of lived-on islands across a clear blue ocean. On the mainland, a large city-state occupies the central region and southern coast and resembles what some travelers from some versions of Earth might know of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. ![]() Bustling and lively, the city is clean and well provided-for due to the temperate climate and the bountiful natural resources found on its northern side; orchards, farms and forests extend into the distance, butting up against a small mountain range. The technology level is low compared to Avagi, with carriages and candles in place rather than cars and electric lights, but the craftsmen of the world have managed some very impressive mechanical feats. Kaittans, the local residents of the world appear somewhat humanoid, but the bipedal race has hooves rather than feet, silvery skin and three eyes with vertical pupils. Although there is no sign of any other sentient species in the world, the locals are nonetheless excited to meet their guests, rather than suspicious or afraid; for some reason, they are not surprised that aliens exist, merely that they are here. In the weeks to come, the stabilized portals will provide a respite from the more confined lifestyle aboard Avagi. Travelers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to explore the land. Some things they'll find include...

Guardians tend to carry a fair arsenal with them, conveniently stowed by way of matter transportation. Aside from his hand cannon, he's got a couple of rifles, and is leaning towards the opinion of 'what they don't know won't hurt 'em.' He also wonders if they'd consider his Ghost a separate party member, in which case, for its obvious lack of hands, if they would be willing to compromise.
Cayde pauses as Zer0 brings up other essentials, however. ".....oh. Right. Five days in there, huh..." It seems obvious he'd completely overlooked that part. "Well, at least we can probably cut that down to just whatever you need. My Ghost can heal me, and I've gone longer without a snack. ...we gotta balance that in two hands though...?"
no subject
Zer0's not actually all that concerned, he probably doesn't even need to eat anyway. We just don't know. So, he just gives Cayde a little shrug. Food and first aid kits? PSSHHH.
"A trial like this / Sounds simple when it's compared / To the things I've faced."
no subject
Regardless, Cayde doesn't seem overly concerned about extra provisions either, and with Zer0 shrugging, he almost seems to grin.
They are going to be an awesome team guys"Heh, right? Survival in some unknown space with possible threats lurking? That's a Guardian's day job right there."
no subject
"Sounds like a good job. / In that case, I am ready. / Shall we get going?"
no subject
To that question, he flashes the guy a thumb's up.
"Yep, I'm good to go. Let's do it."
no subject
He shoots Cayde a thumbs up and off he goes into the temple of doom. Lets go murder some... temple monsters or whatever.
no subject
"Wonder what kinda stuff they've got in there..." Not that they won't be finding out shortly. But he expects that a place they're expected to survive in for five days won't be boring or simple to get through. And there was something about a maze, right..?
no subject
"My guess, animals. / Maybe they've set up some traps up, / Could be amusing."
Not the animals but like. The temple keepers or whatever. Imagine if the animals were setting traps, it would be amazing.
no subject
"Anything's gotta be more interesting than fixing up an old station," he comments, nodding a bit. "This place doesn't seem very high tech so maybe there won't be any lasers and hidden turrets or something."
no subject
"Maybe they'll have bear traps or something."
Bear traps are pretty low tech. Anywho once they're inside, Zer0 straps his equipment on properly because there's no way he's going to wander around here for five days carrying everything in his hands.
no subject
With his Hunter's knife where it should be the Exo keeps his hand cannon handy as they take their first steps into the temple. He hadn't really expected Zer0 to keep everything in hand, because for one that would be kinda silly and two, he's sure you'd get some sort of nasty hand cramp. It also makes using any of them effectively pretty difficult.
Within...looks like they've stepped into a forest rather than the insides of some ancient structure. It throws Cayde off for a moment as he looks around and then back towards the entrance. "Huh."
no subject
The whole forest thing isn't really what Zer0 had expected either. He glances around a bit and then gives Cayde a shrug.
"When I said 'bear traps', / I really was just kidding. / But maybe I'm right."
It's a forest, bears live in forests. IT JUST MAKES SENSE.
no subject
Shrugging back, Cayde starts forwards. Maybe not bears specifically, but there could be some other sort of animal similar to or maybe even worse than a wild bear. It's not like they'd seen much wildlife here to know exactly what this place might have.
He stops to poke at a few plants, probably checking to see how real they might be.
no subject
While Cayde pokes around at the plants, Zer0 pokes at something on his helmet and takes a better look around.
"I'm not detecting / Any other forms of life. / We should go deeper."
no subject
"My Ghost's not picking up anything either. And there's something about the place messing with its scans, but I guess I didn't expect this to be too easy."
no subject
"Easy would be dull. / Can I ask about this Ghost, / Is it an AI?"
no subject
"Huh? Oh. Yeah, somethin' like that. I guess AI's about the best way to describe it."
no subject
He doesn't want to be nosy, especially considering the fact that he pretty much never talks about himself, but dude Cayde is a robot and it's kind of awesome.
no subject
"I used to be human," he says, deciding that's the easiest way to put it.
no subject
"Ah. So you've been... Upgraded."
Something like that.
