⋆ All information is current as of day 91 ( there are 100 days in a cycle, which started on January 1st).

⋆ For the past month, the storm surrounding Thisavrou has quieted almost to a stop. On April 11th, that will change drastically. As the cycle turns, all locations will be subject to a blinding flare of light... and shortly after, a crack of thunder that seems to shake both planets to their core. Emergency protections are quickly put in place, and despite the lancing, intermittent bursts of light, few structures of any kind take harm. But where the plumes of power make contact, the ground will be changed: sometimes aged, sometimes warped, and sometimes filled with a new shape altogether. After April 11, new arrivals may show up at ANY location.

⋆ For the first time in recorded history, the weather on Kauto has changed... to a shocking 68°F / 20°C during the day and 61°F / 16 °C at night. The climatologists are very excited. (No one else is.) Chioni, meanwhile, has dropped drastically, with peak highs of 70°F / 21°C and lows of -22F / -30°C in the EN-Line-adjacent regions.

⋆ Savrii Notices:

Kauto's merchants have stepped up trade in an effort to capitalize on comfort those panicked by the storm. Protective charms, safety guides, and Artifixx knockoffs are being sold, along with more practical supplies like first aid kits and preserved food. One merchant is making a killing with quadruple-strength umbrellas-- "in case of falling people".

⋆ Mission notices have been posted to TABs for anyone interested in earning a little extra cash. Available missions are listed below:

Day 94 (April 4th) - A mob of Spitelings has taken the climate shift as an opportunity, overrunning Chioni's Burg Three while hot-weather personnel were being cycled out. Survivors are reported, but unconfirmed. The mining companies will pay 300 sencs to anyone who helps to clear them out, with a bonus of 150 sencs per survivor rescued.

Day 1, new cycle (April 11) - The recently-acquired Artifixx technology proved crucial to keeping the Ingress Complex intact through the first onslaught of the heightened storm. But with readings projecting further escalation, it's vital to ensure the technology gets out-- and that all regions can be protected. Engineers, researchers, and others with appropriate skills will be compensated 300 sencs per week spent on the project.

Day 11, new cycle (April 21) - When storm energy left a smoldering heap of melted rocks in one of Kauto's mountains, observing researchers noted it as one phenomenon of many. When said heap stood up and started to rampage, they took a second look. One very angry landmass is trampling its way from Region Two through Three-- and leaving massive wildfires behind it. Panicked pleas have gone out for evacuation, rescue, and containment. Not many have a price attached, though financial gratitude can certainly be negotiated after.

⋆ Signatures are the base reason for traveling through the Ingress (aside from general exploration and monetary gain) and are used to discover the correct world visitors on Thisavrou wish to return to. Every visit through a different Ingress brings the technicians a little closer to finding it.

⋆ Missions are jobs or specific tasks listed on the TAB once new worlds are open for exploration. Be sure to check if Clearance Levels are required to accept some of these missions.

⋆Clearance Levels are given to visitors for the length of time they have been on Thisavrou (or traveling on the Moira). Each CL offers access to certain things or incentives that others will not have.

Asteroid 276

⋆ In the search to find matching signatures, Thisavrou's Ingress technicians scan a vast array of worlds each cycle. It's very, very rare to find a world that shows all signs of scanning back. A series of careful transmissions back and forth identified the beings on the other side as tentatively friendly, leading Asteroid 276 to be opened as an Exploration Class world.

⋆As much chaos as might be building in the void of space, the Ingress itself appears untouched... at least, for now. The world drops out from beneath you with a swooping sensation and a quiet hum. When reality returns, you find yourself inside a pleasant, well-appointed room, where a calm female voice asks you to please hold; she'll be there to help you shortly. A console on the wall accepts requests for drinks and food, provided a brief survey is completed to ensure biological compatibility. By the time you've taken a look around, the Greeter has arrived.

⋆ Asteroid 276 is a genetic nursery: a commune of talent pooled toward innovation and improvement of life itself. Founded by a group of scientists driven from their homeworld by war, its inhabitants have spent centuries in seclusion, developing their talents to cure diseases, solve resource shortages, and, of course, seek constant improvement of their own biology. All of this and more will be explained by the Greeter, who remains with your group throughout the mandatory six-hour decontamination. While she apologizes for the delay, it's necessary to ensure the safety of their work-- even the briefest exposure to some forms of contaminants could prove lethal to the new life they shelter. And while your breath and physical secretions are analyzed by researchers elsewhere, you have the opportunity to sit back in comfort, enjoying whatever they can tailor to your needs.

Once decontamination is complete, you are free to explore the station. The researchers hope to establish good trade relations with Thisavrou, as well as obtain whatever samples of diverse biology their visitors are willing to provide. As an apology for the delay and a welcome gift to hopeful partners, each arrival is provided with their own companion: a being tailored to guide them and help with their stay. About as smart as an intelligent dog, these creatures bond within minutes to the first being who touches them, becoming loyal allies and assistants at need.

Being literally built into the asteroid, the space station has everything it needs to be completely self-sufficient. Visitors can tour the hydroponics gardens, watch a meteor shower at the observation deck, or observe the menagerie of creatures kept for research. While the scientists have, for the most part, reached a stable consensus on their own perfected form, a wide and varied array of species are produced or altered in the labs...

...including, if you wish, yourselves. The main resource the commune wishes to exchange is their own skills: an active form of gene therapy capable of curing disorders and even enhancing the biology of a living creature. While secretive about their methods, they can demonstrate results on both themselves and their creations, and promise no negative effects. Everyone strives to be their best self, after all. Is there anything they can do to help you reach that?

⋆Missions available:

While Asteroid 276 is looking to establish longer-term relations, its residents certainly aren't opposed to more immediate trade. New genetic material (blood, flesh, or a close equivalent) is valued highly here, and will receive trade goods valuing at 50 sencs per distinct source exchanged. Live (non-sapient) creatures receive four times that value.

Information about new worlds is highly valued among the Savrii, particularly when they claim to offer as many solutions as this one. A reward of 200 sencs will be provided for verification of the commune's skills-- and twice that for any resources that might help Thisavrou.

[The woman who met you on your arrival can be seen throughout the station, checking in on newcomers and intervening should disturbances arise. While human-approximate in build and shape, her species' frame is distorted ever so slightly past possibility: too-long fingers, too-smooth skin, dark eyes that reflect light from within. The only visible hair is feathery tendrils that seem to supplant a human's brow's and lashes, though her complexion changes often, ripples of color displacing one another underneath the apparent default of light blue.

Dressed in a set of loose white robes with green borders, she approaches with an easy grace and a calm smile.]

Hello again. How are you finding your stay?

[It wasn't long after Darin's initial visit to the Asteroid, that he had decided to make a return trip. His first trip was merely out of curiosity. He'd never visited an asteroid before. When he'd learned about the lab...about what they researched and what they could do, the gears in his mind started to turn. He wondered if maybe he could make some use of this facility...if they could help him or...diagnose him in some way. Maybe find a cure, or a seal for Diomuhr. Or maybe...maybe even find a way to take himself out in the off chance Diomuhr ever gained permanent control.]

[So, it's on his second visit where he's met by the Greeter on the observation deck, as he wrestles with what it is he truly wants. He looks like he's watching a passing meteor shower, but his gaze is far more distant than that.]

Ah...hey there. I'm...I'm doing alright. It's a really nice place.

⋆ Spitelings

Tex is nothing if not a thorough and skilled assassin. She prefers to use her skills for good these days, whenever she can, and that's why she has responded to the posting for this particular job. Protecting the local citizens is definitely a priority, and Tex is happy to team up with anyone who has also taken on this assignment.

"Let's move up this way," she says to her companion, gesturing slightly around a bend. She's spotted and dispatched a few spitelings already. They're some ugly fuckers, that's for sure.

⋆ Asteroid 276

Open – Tex arrives along with a group of other Ingress travelers and immediately makes her way along the concourses, exploring the various sights there are to see. She's especially interested in viewing the meteor shower on the observation deck—it's been quite some time since she was last in outer space, now, and because of her history space just seems like home.

On other occasions, she may be found using the corridors for training purposes—running and doing body-weight exercises. She's preparing, it seems, but for what?

Closed to Ryuuzaki – She's come to a reasonably content place when it comes to the balance between using her human body and her robotic body. The human body will never live up to what she'd like it to accomplish, but when she has a particularly dangerous mission to complete, it's as simple as placing her body in stasis with the help of Archer's water, and jumping to a robot. Returning is now fairly simple.

But when she learns there are genetic enhancements available here, it's very tempting to try to learn more. Can she come to a place where her human body is as responsive and capable as she would like for it to be, after all?

She doesn't let Ryuuzaki know of her plans to inquire about this, not until after they arrive. When she does bring it up, it's in more of an offhand way— "I thought I'd go check out the genetic labs," is all she says, walking with him along the corridor that will lead them there.

L isn't that stupid.

It's been clear for a while that Tex wants to have her cake and eat it too -- so to speak. He's interested in the place for other reasons, curiosity that isn't idle in the least, but she's not the only one who's aware that genetic enhancements are available here, and the reasons it might be a draw for her are so obvious to him that he's having a hard time thinking of another motivation for her desire to visit.

Her comment initially garners only a penetrating sidelong look, one he doesn't expect her to pick up on. A moment later, he says, "I'm interested to see what they can do. This sort of thing was possible where I came from, but only on a very primitive, limited level."

Day 11- Warrior 2.0:

[It was the sound of alarms blaring that drew Angel from an already fitful slumber. The storm of what she assumed was the night before had kept her up, its surges of energies disturbing Angel’s own powers. As she sat up, she noticed a faint orange glow seemed to coat her room, and for a brief moment, she wondered if she had somehow managed to sleep through until dawn.]

[That didn’t quite explain the alarms, though, which were loud and sharp enough for Angel to feel like it was cutting through her skull. She forced herself to her feet, then moved to squint out of her window to make sense of it all.]

[The sight of a not-distant enough blaze quickly sent the siren scrambling back. She scrambled into the house proper, crossing over open, rope walk way in a protective sort of hunch. From there, she burst outward and onto the pathway below her home. She looked left, and then right, panic rising within her.]

[And then she felt the ground tremble beneath her. Her gaze shot upward, just barely glimpsing the distant monster through cover of trees. The resemblance to the monster her father once described to her was uncanny, unsettling even.]

[She didn’t realize she had sank to her knees in despair for several moments.]

Asteroid 276 - General


[There was a lot to see and do in this strange system. While the extended decontamination process was dull (and passed mostly by catching up on sleep), it seemed worth it in the end. Eventually, she would get to doing the exploring he had waited so long for but at present, she was far too concerned with the creature gifted to her by the researchers. The bug-eyed creature was certainly odd, but Angel was a sucker for anything with any amount of fluff on it.]

[Don’t be surprised to see her sitting down in a random hallwayl, twisting a thread torn from her dress in front of the creature, attempting to entice it into play.]

[Once bug and siren had been satisfied with their play, the girl set out. Her first stop was the gardens where she sat for a long time, staring at the colorful twists of flowers and other assorted flora. She did her best to keep her hands to herself, fearful that one or all of them might poisonous to some degree.]

[Eventually, though, the siren made her way to the observation deck. It was here that she would spend most of her time, staring up at the streaking meteors and foreign constellations. While Angel had looked at peace elsewhere, it was only here that she seemed legitimately happy, perhaps even excited.]

Asteroid 276 - Modifications

[That happiness seemed as if it wasn’t meant to last, however. With her heart in her throat, Angel approached the genetic modifications lab. Her gaze swept over every pamphlet and poster, studying each and every thing they had to offer. A nearby monitor swept through before and after photos, displaying its boundless potential.]

[Angel shifter over to a mirror. She wasn’t nearly as pale as she once was, but there were still dark shadows beneath her eyes, and her cheeks were just as sunken as ever. Her form was still thin, and the tattoos that had all but ruined her life stood out on her skin, a beacon of her so-called potential.]

[She could change it all here. She could make herself taller and fuller. She could look her age, rather than like a pitiable 14 year old girl.]

[Turning to face the nearest receptionist, Angel grabbed a handful of paperwork, then retreated to a seat to study it closely.]

[You know the worst part of Godzilla-esque beasts rampaging through the otherwise peaceful, verdant regions of Kauto? It's not the screaming, no; they're well accustomed to that. It's not the chaos. It's not even the immediate harm in which the entire debacle has placed them and, obliquely, their roommates. Ideally they'll be at home, far, far away from this mess.

None of that turns out to be the problem, no.

It's the occasional dotting of a face they recognize, here and again. A tug in their chest, as though some fragmented remnant of a conscience that was never theirs sees fit to remind them that there is, at best, a handful of people worth retrieving for Frisk's sake, or Asriel's sake, or anyone's sake but their own.

For all of Angel's apparent power, her ability to warp her surroundings, it seems she's forgotten everything in the face of immediate danger.

The child halts but a few feet away, ratcheting the words out coldly before it occurs to them that they needn't have bothered:]

[Now that the weather has calmed down, Daisy feels a bit more motivated to get things done that she’s been putting off. She’s gotten better about going to the gym on a regular basis and it’s showing, as her body had lost some definition since coming back in December and dealing with a broken arm on top of barely getting by on little food while stranded.

On top of that, Daisy recently got a job at Xavier’s School for Gifted Individuals and while she’s still getting used to that it’s been nice. Especially that she can help others come to terms with the powers and help them learn to control it after having to teach herself.

Daisy happened to be out on the 11th trying to get some things crossed off her to-do list when this sudden storm of sorts happened. She could feel the sudden surge of vibrations on the planet before everyone else could, and it was honestly overwhelming considering her power made it so she could fee the vibrations all around her. Even when things were ‘calm’. This was too much for her body to handle and at one point she’s holding onto the nearest surface clearly in pain, although to anyone else it probably wasn’t obvious as to why. After it does calm a bit, Daisy is making sure no one else is hurt.]

[Daisy had been asked by Declan, Ronan’s older brother if she wanted to meet up for lunch sometime. Considering her day was free other than doing a few things around the house and the gym, Daisy agreed at a time and a place to meet up. She praised the food on being good since she’s gone there in the past.

Standing outside the small restaurant, Daisy was leaning against the wall and staring down at her TAB as she finished messaging him to let him know she was here.]

[She's fallen in to a bit of a routine since arriving here. There is a part of her that is grateful to find other mutants here and to also find the institute. It might not be exactly as she remembers it, but it's not completely foreign to her either.

She's bought a few things for her room, decorating the sparse space, and has also purchased a variety of clothes. It's not all vanity, as most of it is for a functional use. After all, the last thing that Rogue wants to do is accidentally touch someone and have her mutation jump started.

She's up and dressed, breakfast behind her and dishes washed and dried. Tugging at her gloves, she's moving through the hall, familiar with the route, although she pauses, blinking, coming across a face that she hasn't met yet. She blinks, halted, before offering a smile, an inquisitive expression on her face.]

day 11; people say it's suicidal or it's arrogance

[This certainly puts a damper on their plans for the day. Not that they particularly had any to begin with, but this rampaging thing, whatever one wishes to call it, certainly brings with it a high percent chance of death and dying. Therefore, you can consider Chara wholly interested in engaging its mass and whatever destruction it may leave in its wake. Neither evacuation nor rescue can be considered their priority; containment and subsequent destruction is the only task with which they can be trusted.

The thing is larger than any monster from the Underground, not so easily taken down with little more than a Knife, no matter how high its ATK may be. Thus, they settle for a compromise.

By the time the thing reaches Region Three, Chara has scaled one of the trees in its path, readying themself to drop onto its back at the opportune moment.

asteroid 276; massacre the hours 'till the power aches and seconds hurt; cw panic

Every line and contour of the place raises their hackles, no matter how nice and colorful they make it look. The sterility of the room, the whiff of antiseptic, the clinical, automated female voice that requests that they please hold, the complementary animal-like companions, the stacks of paperwork -

None of it puts them at ease. Their jaw clenches, a slow rolling of twitching muscle in their cheek. The "companions" are ignored utterly. The hours-long process of decontamination leaves their skin itching, fingers fisting into the fabric of their sweater, pulling and tearing at the threads. It's better than digging their nails into their skin and raking fresh read weals where everyone may see them.

They should never have come here. Never have bothered, even at Asriel's excited urging at the modifications one could receive. There is only one such physical adjustment in which they are interested, and now that they're here - it hardly seems worth it. Not worth being at the MERCY of someone else's hands, someone else's expertise, someone else's tools and abilities.

A temporary moment of discomfort to secure a tolerable life in the future. Is that so much to ask?

The pen trembles subtly in their hand as they attempt to scrawl out the necessary information, not that they find themself capable of answering much of it. Their birthday is anyone's guess, their name a self-established title, their blood type dependent on what sort of body they have now, their gender - who knows, right? Certainly not Chara!

A fist stuffed in their mouth, teeth sinking into their knuckles, hard enough to draw blood, and they have to set the pen down, the clipboard pinned neatly across their lap.

Frisk had been just as eager as Asriel to come here. Their reasons were much different than the idea of seeking strength or a new ability--rather, it was more a matter of matching than changing. At first, it was exciting and interesting, but the more Frisk saw of what the methods must be...it's different, than when that weird holiday changed everyone. It's not like when they tried to edit their FILE disk back then at all. It's much more...

Clinical. Knives and syringes and allowing a doctor to--

It doesn't help how cagey the hosts are of their process. Frisk shouldn't push, these people are being so generous, offering something like this and asking nothing in return but trust. But the idea of being put on a table, being stripped down and seen, and they'll know, they'll think they know better than some little kid...it curdles their insides, turns everything into a sick knot and leaves a sour taste in the back of their throat.

The clipboard sits nearly untouched on their lap, Frisk's hands full of the soft and chirring companion they'd been given. Running their fingers over the soft down, they had been trying for the past twenty minutes to calm down enough to even try to fill out more than three sections of the form. Gender required it says, and Frisk could nearly scream.

Bright red catches the edge of their vision, and Frisk turns to look at Chara with worry. In the back of their mind they can hear screaming about scars, but they shove the memory back. Not now, she's gone, she's...gone.

"Chara?"

Day 94, Mission

[ There's a Turian standing at 8 feet tall assisting with clearing out the Spitelings. The only reason Saren bothered to pick up the mission was due to the convenience of living in Chioni. If it weren't for that factor, he wouldn't be there. The assignment was more dull than the Council's simplest mission, essentially being unglamorous grunt work with cheap pay.

However, it was a task that kept Saren occupied rather than idle and it additionally gave him the opportunity to test out his capabilities. At the approach of three of the Spitelings, Saren unleashed his biotics. The spitelings were lifted helplessly into the air, then hurled shortly afterwards an admirable distance. Saren took care of them quickly with his pistol before they could attempt to get back up.

Saren hadn't determined yet if he would scout for the survivors. He usually never prioritized it. Might be good for appearances sake, though. ]

Asteroid 276, General, undated

[ The appearance of the Asteroid was the first intriguing phenomenon since his arrival, so of course Saren opted to investigate. He might have reconsidered if he knew before hand that a companion would be forced on to him. Saren could be found in the hydroponics gardens, scowling at his "gift" instead of enjoying the gardens. ]

Must you follow me everywhere? You're a nuisance more than you are a help, and you are hardly anymore appealing than a pyjack. If there were an airlock present, I'd toss you out of it.

Asteroid 276, Modifications, undated

[ The real intrigue of the Asteroid lied in the genetics laboratory, which Saren approached with some caution. Saren soaked in all of the information the lab had to offer with a critical eye, spent an hour or so reading over the fine print. Looking for a flaw, or some sort of hint of deception. He couldn't find anything.

A part of him strongly wanted to commit, see how far it could take him. Before, he thought he bettered himself to save the galaxy. Now, he longed to remove the poison lurking inside of him, if at all possible, and to reverse the horrific changes he inflicted on his body for the greater good.

It all sounded very attractive, frighteningly so. Surely there was some sort of catch? Nothing came without a price.

Still, despite his hesitation, he found himself with paperwork and pen in hand, contemplating the pros and cons.

Maybe he could start small, exchange his Reaper arm for an organic one. If that turned out fine, well, he could see about more extensive exchanges. ]

What are you thinking?

[ Nihlus slips into the space next to Saren with an easy, old familiarity. He'd seen Saren eying the datapad for a while now, it'd just been a matter of deciding if it was appropriate to approach or not.

He can kind of guess, after, exactly what his mentor was thinking.

Also, he's pretty sure he can get away with nosing into Saren's business at this point without much rebuke. Guilt tripping: one of the only perks of being murdered by the guy. ]

i. Wildfire

Like the giant sequoias of earth, many of the giant trees in the area near Wanda's house were resistant to fire, but that didn't mean that a fire wouldn't cause a lot of damage. When news came in that a wildfire had started to the west, Wanda blocked off all access to her underground house, hoping that if worst came to worst, the fire would simply pass over it. Then she joined her neighbours by the stream to try to stop the worst by clearing out the vegetation on the side of the stream, so that there would be a smaller chance that the fire would jump over the water.

The mood was grim but cheerful; everyone thought they had a chance of stopping the fire here. "It's lucky we just had that pruning," a woman said. "Less deadwood sitting around, and less work for us now."

Wanda's telekinetic abilities were an open secret among her neighbours -- they'd noticed her creating her house -- so she was able to do a lot of work without surprising anyone. The biggest danger point was a place where the stream was narrow and deep, the banks closer together, but the even the wide shallow areas of the stream needed work; soon everyone was spread out all along the stream, getting rid of anything that might burn too easily and dousing the area with water; as the fire approached, most people backed off, a few standing by with more water or sand to smother any sparks that leapt the stream.

Wanda paused by a giant tree that was close to the stream. It was bigger around than the span of her arms, and the bark looked thick and fibrous, the kind that was supposed to be resistant to fire, but she was worried about it anyway. As the heat grew in intensity and the crackleroar of the fire approached, she extended her senses to their limits, trying to sense the massive amounts of energy being released by the fire. Energy... And Wanda manipulated energy. Shields and blasts of energy usually, but she could create the illusion of fire, and she'd often suspected that she could start a fire if she got the trick of it just right... Could she stop a fire, divert the heat that sustained it somehow? If it was small enough, like a new bit of fire just trying to take hold after crossing the stream?

Then Wanda saw the fire, moving through the treetops and underbrush on the other side of the stream. "It's coming," she shouted. It was so big; it was everywhere she looked on the other side of the stream.

Behind her, she could sense some new volunteers arriving to help at the danger point, but she only had eyes for the fire.

Since her house had survived the fire, Wanda had opened it up to others from Region 3 who'd lost theirs. She'd added room after room, but a lot of people wanted some place to stay within Region 3 or needed to be in the area to work on forest restoration, and eventually she'd run out of space beneath the roots. Soon after that, the crowded conditions in the house she'd meant for herself had gotten to be too much for her, she'd moved to the city, subletting a room from a contact she'd made while tracking down a source of unusual fabrics for a woman who wanted to start a dress shop.

It was a city, so it was still crowded, but it was an anonymous crowd. And it was only temporary.

Maybe.

She'd been spending her time wandering around the city, discovering the hidden corners and the best shops and markets for her purposes, and expanding her network of contacts who might be able to help her track down rare items for future clients. And she spent her days trading. Or maybe hoarding.

Her little room was crammed with things that she'd stumbled across and couldn't quite manage to bring herself to pass by, or resell. Things she thought she might want to have, just in case (in case of what, she didn't know, which was why her collection was so eclectic). Oxygen tanks. Gold jewellery. Seeds and electronics and an inflatable life pod and a crate of fine china and a pair of swim flippers and a whole wall of preserved food and...

Today, she'd been out and found a few more things to add to her collection, as well as a box containing the kind of thing she thought she could resell. She'd picked up some broken technology of a type she'd been trying to teach herself to repair, and some battered toys that she could also fix, and a few books, just things that had looked interesting to her.

As she was navigating a corner, someone knocked into her and she stumbled, the contents of her box went tumbling across the sidewalk. One of the toys, a large, complicated, somewhat alien-looking object made of a material as smooth as polished wood, hit the ground and split in half, another object falling out and tumbling to a stop at the feet of someone who'd just been walking along.

"Watch out, don't step on it!" Wanda said.

[Providing all visitors with a small, intelligent companion creature was probably a good idea in theory. However, it is significantly less so in practice when one of your visitors already has a small, intelligent, and apparently very jealous companion hovering over his shoulder already. The fuzzy little animal Alan had been given lasts all of two minutes before Bit manages to chase it off with a furious string of NO’s.]

Was that really necessary? [Alan asks the Bit, carefully releasing it from his hands as he does so. He’d managed to get a hold of it before it gave chase to the poor creature, though it seems to have calmed down by now.

”Yes!” the Bit chirps, somehow managing to sound quite pleased with itself despite its monotone voice.]

[Alan gives it a disapproving look.] Well then, in that case you can stay in the apartment next time I go somewhere new. [The declaration gets a ”No!” of dismay from the Bit.

Would you like to interrupt this clearly very important argument happening in the middle of the hall between a grown man and a blue, grapefruit-sized floating orb?]


asteroid 276: medical sector
[Having successfully avoided any further tiny creature fights, Alan spends the next few hours touring the asteroid’s facilities. He’s taking a look around the medical facilities when one of the researchers there makes him a very interesting offer.

Alan didn’t believe he was genetically predisposed to migraines—at least, he wasn’t until he died and the Ingress brought him back. Now, he’s unsure of just how that resurrection changed his physiology. Which means he doesn't know whether or not the form of gene therapy perfected on Asteroid 276 would even work in “curing” him of the affliction. Still, a few tests couldn’t hurt. And if they can help him… well, he doesn’t see a reason he should continue to suffer from debilitating migraines, however occasional.

One blood draw later, and Alan is sitting outside the lab, feeling slightly woozy. He’s out of the way of the main tour circuit, but it’s not a big facility and it’s not impossible to see him in one of the adjacent waiting rooms. And given he’s in the medical sector, it shouldn’t be difficult for passersby to tell he’s there for some kind of treatment.]

[If the people here are such experts at editing biological code, maybe it's a good idea to have non-biological witnesses around. Yori hopes this theory won't backfire on her too badly. She's skeptical of all their claims on sheer principle, but she tries not to behave rudely or draw attention. At least they do seem to be letting her explore on her own.

When she sees Alan-One seated near one of the marked laboratories, she's glad she came. No obvious injury. What do edits even look like on Users? Should he be leaning quite that way?

[Her day is much like any other. At least like any other day here. A type of life had been settled in to. There certainly are things that Rogue misses, like Bobby, and there are times when she thinks about the cure and what it might have offered her. No need to be completely covered anyway. Yet there is still a routine that she more or less sticks to, even with the strange storm that seems to have been lingering.

It is why she is caught completely unaware when the bright light flares through the sky, and the crack of thunder has a squeaked noise from her, glancing around as if to figure out where it has come from. Yet Rogue can't tell anything. Her heart is pounding in her chest, and still looking around wild eyed, Rogue seems wary, as if something else might happen.]

Holy- What was that?

[Day 11, new cycle (April 21)]
[Putting it simply, Rogue could say that shit seems to have hit the fan. It's perhaps not as bad as some of the things that she has been through, but she can also say that it's not just a jaunt in the park either. It's hard not to notice how one of the mountains on Kauto seems to be a little melty, and when the call goes out for help, Rogue is there.

She's no fire fighter, but every little thing helps, doesn't it? Wiping a glove that had once been white but is now a sooty grey across her forehead, Rogue turns to the person nearest her.] Have you looked over there, or should Ah go?

[It's... strange, but no stranger than anything else Rogue has come across here. There is a curious look on her face, mouth opening now and then as she looks around. The decontamination took quite a while, but considering Rogue acknowledges that she'll likely never come across anything like this again, she's willing to sit through it. She won't deny that there is a part of her that wonders if they know anything about mutations...

Allowed to explore, she walks around, her little companion with her. Rogue has never had a pet of any sort, and she has to admit that she is rather charmed with it. She can be heard talking to it, little things that don't really mean anything, but just general gibberish.

Later, she is in the gardens, gasping and gawking at the sights before her. More to herself than to anything else, she stops before a particularly large and beautifully coloured flower.] Oh wow! What is that!

[Later, she does give some blood, although she's entirely certain if it's going to do any good. It is how she is found, rubbing her arm, even if it doesn't actually hurt. Her mind is reeling. Gene therapy. Does that... Does it mean they could cure her? It is how she is by the observation deck, a serious expression on her face.]

[Remember the whole 'I will not get involved with shit that might end my life' bit that Badou practically has printed on his forehead? That's not happening when it comes to these fires. Like it or not (he doesn't like it), he found himself aiding the efforts to stop the fires, to salvage and the like.

And maybe okay the smell of the smoke wasn't so bad but he's not admitting to that aloud. When Rogue speaks up he was just about to sit down and take a break. Groaning:]

No, but I guess I could use a few marshmallows roasted huh.

[ OPTION 1: ASTEROID 276 - DROP-IN. ]

[ As luck would have it, visiting Asteroid 276 is a big fucking mistake.

Mistake number one: the station is a playpen of personal invasion masquerading as a safe haven. Something straight out of a bad radio drama from the early 1900s, complete with the use of terms like 'biological compatibility'; irony not included.

The polite passive-aggression that Venom is leveled with gives him very little room to contest. Starting a mid-week diplomatic war is usually not in Venom's agenda (or, well), so he stonily complies with his demands with the weariness of a man who prefers not to think about the personal quandaries that he has, yet again, been thrown into thanks to the hands of medical personnel. In all truth, he doesn't have enough hours in the day.

Not great.

Mistake number two: Venom's clearance level doesn't give him the authority to bear his (many) arms. There's something distinctly demoralizing about being told to dismantle his weaponry from a warm-faced nurse who, in all likeliness, will be probing his orifices in just a few minutes (for 6 hours, no one here is remotely fucking around), but again— Venom has sense enough to choose his battles.

Long story short, the result is thus: Venom's self-exile to the corner of the lobby, away from the rancor and confusion of the incoming members of his quarantine group. He's a mass of black kevlar and unfastened buckles, hunched over a coffeetable which is two sizes too small to accommodate his actions. To his right is a smattering of pistol parts organized by size, to his immediate left a growing map of components that comprise an assault rifle. All treated with care and reverence.

Upon someone else approaching, he'll look up and tip his head, expression neutral. ]

[ Matter-of-fact. But the chair across from him is open: feel free to sit and watch, is the implication. ]


[ OPTION 2: DAY 94 - SEARCH AND DESTROY. ]

[ Anyone on Spiteling-watch duty or anyone trying to clear out survivors might bump into Venom doing his civic duty. Soot-streaked and boots tracked in mud, he emerges out of one particularly dank-smelling mining shaft with a limp body slung across his shoulders, blinking dust out of his single eye.

Spitting dirt out of his mouth, he manages: ] —Think we might need some medics on hand.

[ PTSD doctors, maybe. Listen, those Spitelings are scary as hell. ]

[Day 94 (April 4th)]
[It is something that has opened his eyes. For Po, he had thought traveling through the other kingdoms had been enough of a wanderlust, and yet here he is, with a galaxy opened before him. Perhaps not quite literally, but even on the one planet he has found himself on, it has kept him busy. His abilities flourish here, and flounder as well. Some days they seem to expand and grow, and there are so many new things that he can sense. Yet other days, it is like trying to grasp a slippery fish- it just slips right through his fingers.

He has not spent much time on Chioni, but when the call goes out, Po is there. He might not know much about all this technology that exists here, but this is something that he can do. Having been filled in on what these Spitelings are, he has entered in to Burg Three. No fool, he does move with caution, his Grace seemingly straining. Several people are helped, but he goes back each time. On his third trip, Po does pause, and slowly his focus shifts.]

I think I heard something ahead. Several somethings.

[And by heard, he does mean perceived. They are fuzzy and strange, seeming to glow within his mind in an odd sense. Not familiar in the least, which is why he assumes that they are these Spitelings.]

[Asteroid 276]
[There is something completely unique about the experience, which is what does drive Po in the first place. His Grace had been expanding back home, growing stronger and wider, giving him greater insight. Here, it is hit and miss, and Po isn't certain as to the reasons for that. Perhaps it is the planets and all new and strange and completely foreign aspects that he is running across. Not that it stops him. If anything, it pushes him on.

The six-hour decontamination is not something that he expects, but there is nothing that he can do about it now. He'll respect their methods. It is hard to get a read on the Greeter though, and Po does listen, seemingly calm at the whole thing. Yet, his eyes do flick about the room now and then, watching those that are there as well. If eye contact is made, he gives a little nod and a lazy smile.]

Interesting way to spend half a day, no?

[The companion is met with genuine interest. Its like is unfamiliar to Po, but he isn't surprised by that. What he does seem surprised about is the bond that he seemingly senses from the creature. By the time he wonders after its nature, it is too late. Rather, he looks upon it, quirking an eyebrow.]

Shall we?

[There is a casualness about him, as if this is something that he does every day. It is a lie, a rouse, but it is a persona that he is good at putting on. It has been something that he has been practicing since he was a young boy, and Katsa is the only one who knows what his Grace is here. Then again, there aren't exactly a plenitude of people here who even understand what his silver and gold eyes mean.

He does find the sights interesting. He lingers in the garden, eyeing certain plants with a rather strong intensity. The creatures kept for research as well he moves through, lips slightly pursed, yet taking no action at the moment. Yet, it is longest at the meteor shower that Po remains. There is a true neutralness to his face, eyes staring offward in to the expanse of space. Being on planet is one thing, but being up there? It is something completely different, and something that does leave him feeling quite small and humble inside.]

[Nill has heard about the new planet they can explore, and what the people there could do. Genetic manipulation has not treated her well, and she's tremendously wary of anyone offering to perform it. Understandably, she is distracted from her job of finding out what people need. She's seated at her desk, spinning a pen around her fingers, staring off into space. She likely won't notice anyone walking in right now, or perhaps she's become distracted mid-conversation. Either way, her mind is somewhere else entirely from the small ramshackle building that helps pay for her groceries.]

[Nill isn't entirely sure what she's doing here. The greeter had been nice enough, and the snack (some kind of fruit, she thinks) had been sweet, but left a slightly sour taste in her mouth. Curiosity is her biggest weakness. If Heine had been here, he never would have let her come here--at least not alone. And she doesn't think she could have brought him even if he were on Thisavrou. Heine's feelings towards genetic experimentation were even stronger than her own. He'd suffered more, certainly. But Bishop had often told her not to compare her own pain to someone else's; it wasn't a competition, he'd say. They had both been torn apart and put back together in one way or another, just in different ways. That didn't make one situation less awful than the other.

Still, she thinks, she only has her wings and nightmares as reminders. He has something much more sinister.

She's shaking when they tell her she needs to go through "decontamination," and Nill nearly runs away. But something inside is urging her to go through with this, to find out what they're doing. After decontamination, Nill can be found in the hydroponics garden, wandering aimlessly through the hallways, or staring wide-eyed (and a little horrified) at some of the creatures used for experiments.]

[ Little angel, meet Frankenstein's monster again. It's been a hot minute, but it's hard to forget a silent girl with featherlight wings.

Instead of calling out to her, Venom scoots towards the wall and taps his knuckles against it to herald his appearance; force of habit, maybe, from the months he'd spent communicating with a woman who similarly had an absence of words. After that's done, he steps out into the middle of the hall and tips his head, signaling that he's made himself open. 'I come in peace'.

From the other side of the hall, behind windowed glass, the lab's "creations" look back at them with dull curiosity.

Frankly speaking? It's pretty fucked up. ]

...I'm no scientist, but I can't say this looks good.

[Genetic nursery. That's more familiar than he'd like to admit.]

[For one thing he's reminded of Link'd, the business that was meant to genetically align two individuals with compatible DNA or physical construction to create the most optimized relationship and offspring possible. It was the first planet he'd visited as part of the Moira's crew. Dead bodies had been found in hidden locations as part of a civilian revolt (as the cooperation was intimately tied with the world's government), evidence they saw covered by more important and "relevant" parties. The conspiracy grew to the point that the company's founder was murdered and secretly slipped aboard the Moira in a storage container, the location of their base carved into his skin, and the ship absconded with a number of genetic research refugees and the business owner's own cooperative son.]

[There's really no excuse for him to have multiple examples of this in his history.]

[Zero's "insurance policy" back home (something he pretended to buy into when he wanted to use Zero as a means to an end), the master planner's way of inevitably manipulating Big Boss through his friends, through the people that loved the legend, into fulfilling his wishes even if it would just be a duplicate with his strength and face, carefully educated and directed to generate Cipher's will. Clones. More precise copies of the man considered to be the perfect soldier than a carved up ramshackle decoy. A man, he reminds himself sometimes, genuinely thought that Santa was legitimately tracked by NORAD, got excited for a two-man cardboard tank, and worried a vampire might get him at some point. That same perfect soldier.]

[He guesses in cloning that Zero had some choice in weeding that inexplicable but invaluably human shit out of him.]

[Solid Snake has given him some idea of what will eventually happen with nanotechnology, dimly how it relates to genes, about how tailored viruses could kill him.]

[And yet, here's Kaz, sitting and reading about these lack of effects, and gently wondering what it would be like to stand a single chance against some of the people that were so much stronger than him. Not only that, made a point of making him look weak. Inconsequential even.]

[Ah, well. He sits it down to look at people near him. He'll just pretend that he's reading it because he's curious about their intentions. It's not false. Just not entirely true, either.] Do you have any experience with anything like this? [He generally asks without looking over at them directly at first.]

Not exactly.

[Dorian's voice should be familiar by now, except that voice is coming from somewhere beside Kazuhira...well there was a pile of Dorian signature clothing that materialized on the chair to his immediate right Kazuhira. A pile of leathers, glittering metal armor made from...some kind of alloy that couldn't be discerned with general armor and metals knowledge, and silk sapphire brocade. He's regretting the choice, not knowing that he'd have to fit himself back into it not one to take clothing off until the day has ended...a lot of work goes into getting dressed where he comes from.

He's standing behind the seat which is where his voice is also coming from, examining the areas on his arm where blood had been withdrawn, clearly he'd just undergone the six hours of harassment and has no idea what to think about it. It's unusual, the look of conflict that Dorian is wearing, but he covered it up by doctoring himself a bit. Not that he hadn't appreciated their own efforts to repair him it was just that elfroot leaves went a lot further to soothing those little pinpricks than their attempts, so he was busily applying leaves to his skin.]

The Imperium believes in doing things using tried and true methods. If breeding can't produce the desired results then let's use Blood Magic. Having any thoughts, my dear Kazuhira?

[Sometimes he wonders what it must be like to be an average person with the freedom to panic. He lives in region 3 too, this is also his home in danger, and part of him wishes he could just worry about himself and let someone else take the responsibility for coordinating evacuations and keeping people calm.

But he can't, so coordinating evacuations and trying to keep people calm are what he ends up doing. Directing people away from the fires, toward region 4 where the damage hasn't spread yet; making sure everybody is accounted for and put together; knocking on doors of the houses further in the creature's path to make sure that everyone's aware of the situation and ready to move.

Also, gently encouraging people to evacuate even if they don't think they're in danger. Better safe than sorry.

It's an automatic thing, and it may seem like his heart's not in it. It's mostly that he's getting tired of disasters he has to clean up after, but if it's him or nobody it has to be him.]

[Evacuation has been as thorough as he can manage, being just one person with some initiative. Now that there aren't many people around to get in the way, it's time to take out the problem at its source.

The good thing about it being a giant lava monster leaving swathes of destruction in its wake is that it's easy to find. Unfortunately, everything else has Lavellan at a disadvantage. He is a fairly powerful individual, but there's only so much he can do by himself, so even though he's in the vicinity of the thing he hesitates at attacking it full on. He's not interested in being burnt to a crisp. So instead he's skulking behind it as it goes through the forest, trying to figure out a strategy.

He probably should have contacted what Inquisition members are here before trying something like this, but something about that doesn't appeal. Oh well. At least if he dies here it'll be heroically, or something.]

[ 02. space oddity | asteroid 276 ]

[If Lavellan though Kauto was strange, it has nothing on this... place.

He really just needs to accept that he'll never truly comprehend these concepts that everyone else seems to take for granted, but it's one thing to accept that at face value and another to wrap his head around wandering through a building built into a rock in the sky, made of the shiniest material he's ever seen, being followed around by some kind of... bat-demon.

They say they can shape your body to your liking, here, which to Lavellan just sounds like blood magic without the blood. Somehow. Or, rather, it just sounds like something he doesn't understand and can't trust. But they said they could regrow his arm, if he wanted.

And he does. He's just not sure if this is how he wants to go about it. Something about this place is just... deeply unsettling.

He'll be wandering around the facility pretending to explore while he turns the idea over. He'll be very easily startled.]

[ Solas has done his best, too, to walk forward and urge as many people out and away from the district as he watches the rather large monster make it's appearance and approach. He's not exactly fond of the idea of going to rush head-first into danger, but he recognises that he might have the ability to help where others may not - he's not a professional when it comes to ice magics but he has learned enough to be more than just a little useful.

It doesn't take him too long to track down his errant housemate and he moves forward, tilting his head as he stares out at the monster. He can feel the fading pulse of his power as he reaches for it despite a rather lacking connection to the Fade and he wishes, as he has done on more than one occasion, that he was able to reach out and simply slip into Dreams as he had done so many times before.

Perhaps he would learn more about the creature.

Summoning his power is easily done, all the same, and he frowns, casting some ice to put out a nearby flame. ]

I hope you don't intend to face the creature alone, Inquisitor.

COMMANDER SHEPARD ★ ota!

1. Taking out the trash

[Living on the Ingress Complex proper had huge advantages: warm, never any wacky weather issues, organized, clean, close to work, food more or less accessible 30/100 (to make an age-old adage Thisavrou-appropriate).

But space? Scarce. And garbage? Lots. As such, all trash, such as it was, was subject to strictly-enforced sorting rules for disposal. Bags were available locally, and each citizen was required to sort their refuse into individual bags, for disposal on individual days. In theory, it was a beautiful recycling system.

In practice, it was a massive pain in the ass. Or at least, that was Shepard's takeaway. Handfuls of individual bags in hand (plastics, glass, silicon, aluminium, steel, steel-alloy, paper...), she's frowning at the different slots, a flicker of biotic energy running along her arms in irritation.]

This is it.

2. Hey Shep is actually at the Aquarium for once

[The Moira Aquarium is still up, running, and actually experiencing a kind of moderate success amongst locals as a relaxing place to go and watch fish from across systems and galaxies. There's been less interest in the diving, as it's slowly become a date spot, but when bookings are made, Shepard turns up, giving people a run-down of the SCUBA tech they'll be using for their short, shallow dives.

Now, though, she's just puttering around, popping in and out from behind displays, checking levels and temperatures, giving special attention to some of the odder additions.

Are you just looking at the fish? Have you come specifically to bother Shepard, mid-miniwhale feeding session? Maybe you're here to go for a dive yourself? Whatever the case, Shepard is nearby, tongs and algea leaves in hand, and certainly looking more relaxed than she normally does.]

3. Shootout by the watercooler

[On quieter days at the office, when people are out on missions, Shepard locks the doors to all but on-the-book employees, turns on security cam alerts- and goes shooting.

She doesn't have to go far — the Normandy Securities offices has a slim, soundproofed target room in the back, fully equipped with safety equipment for all your sharp-shooting needs. In front of her is spread a cast of four guns: pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, and sniper rifle. Eyewear on, earplugs in, her TAB is anchored to the wall next to her, an expanded screen displaying accuracy for each shot.

[This mission was... not really the most exciting thing ever, but Zer0 couldn't complain too much. It got him out of the house for a while, he was being paid to shoot stuff, and it gave him a chance to keep his sniping skills sharp. Everybody wins.

Actually, only Zer0 wins. The Spitelings don't win. Like at all.

Of course, the important part of this job was the whole looking for survivors thing. Even if it wasn't the fun part, Zer0 had made it his first priority. Luckily, it doesn't take him too long to track a couple down, and to make it even better, the place they'd chosen to hide out in was absolutely surrounded by Spitelings. Better for Zer0, not better for the survivors. They probably aren't too happy with it.

It wasn't a super obscure location, anybody with basic tracking skills could probably track the survivors to it. As for Zer0, he's found himself a suitable sniping perch some distance away and keeps himself entertained by picking the Spitelings off one by one. He'd be more than happy to provide cover fire for anyone who decides that charging in and getting all up in the Spiteling's faces is a good idea as well. ]

Day 11: Just farming for legendaries nbd

[So, Zer0'd just gotten back to Region Three after finishing a job and hoo buddy, The Warrior 2.0 was probably the last thing he'd expected to come home to. He isn't the kind of person who panics, or the type to really do much by way of worrying in general, but catching the all too familiar sight of a giant, rampaging lava monster through the scope of his rifle was enough to put him on edge. Just a bit. Really it was only because he didn't know the state of his housemates, so he whips out his TAB to send a message to Krieg, Gaige, Angel and Rhys:]

[But no, seriously? Zer0 is all about fighting giant monster things. As soon as he finds out the status of his buddies, he starts planning out how to make this thing dead. Also he hopes that his room doesn't burn down or something because he left his favorite shotgun in there, but hey.

He keeps his distance from the toasty monster thing for the time being, mostly tracking it's movements from tall trees and shit with his rifle. He's also keeping a look out for anyone needing help, or, preferably, anyone who looks like they also want to kill them a giant monster. [Hopefully he didn't just stumble into someone. Or into someone's shop or something. But, honestly, he doesn't seem to realize it, his eyes just gone wide, staring at the warped lump of earth and pavement and breathing too hard for someone just surprised.]

[However, once he got here, once the whole 'decontamination' was finished, the whole place started giving him the creeps. A bad feeling. Whatever you wanted to call it. As if there were something off he just couldn't see. The captive animals were part of it. Sure, it happened on Earth often enough. Zoos and things. Animal research was everywhere. But actually producing lab-grown animals, so to speak?]

[He's just watching some feline-looking creature, face drawn down into a vague, thoughtful scowl.]

[Needless to say, as soon as there's a visible crisis, the big man is in action. He figures his armor can withstand some amount of heat, and so, naturally, that means Reinhardt is both charging into buildings, hauling people out. And actively joining in any firefighting efforts. After all, he has his Barrier. And that is fireproof.]

[Maybe you're rescued by a hulking, armored shape. Or maybe he just steps up next to you in a bucket brigade. Either way, Reinhardt is here, and helping.]

[I am often tagging on mobile, so I usually just do prose, since formatting properly on mobile is basically impossible. Don't let that stop you from tagging however you are comfortable!]

Lea has seen a lot of odd things in his day, but the giant rampaging mountain creature on fire is... new. He knows better than to try and take on something that huge and angry head to head, but he can definitely play damage control; fire is kind of his thing. Manipulating flames he didn't create himself takes a lot more concentration than he's used to, and he certainly can't stop wildfires of this magnitude, but he can lend a hand in keeping the flames at bay long enough to let people get out of their homes, maybe even with a few personal belongings.

As the fire continues to spread, he does his best to slow the advance through Region Three--largely because his own residence is there, and dangit, he paid good money for his secluded little treehouse and he's not giving it up without a fight. Trapped in the path of the flames? Give a holler and he'll try and redirect things. Need a hand getting a few straglers out? He can help with that! Or there might be a knock at your door if it looks like you're still home in the monster's path. Anything goes!

He's never been known for his patience, really, and if he wasn't so interested in exploring a new place, he would never have bothered waiting six freaking hours to be allowed to do so. A genetic nursery, huh? That does sound pretty interesting. However, as the hours pass, he's beginning to wonder if it's really worth the trouble.

"Reminds me a bit of work meetings," he remarks dryly as you step through yet another piece of scanning equipment. What's this one testing for? Who the hell even knows? Just when he thought they'd already tested for every possible thing, there's a machine for something else. "By the time anybody actually gets to do anything, most of the day is already gone, yanno?"

Once decontamination is finally done (what day is it, now?) and he's actually turned loose, Lea finds himself wandering through a garden of some sort. He never really appreciated plants so much when he lived at home, because they were pretty much everywhere, but now that he's spent so long away from home, he finds plantlife kind of nostalgic, and so when he spies the hydroponics dome, he's drawn to it almost instinctively. He never really expected to miss home so much, but now that he's got his heart again, he can't just pretend he doesn't. The flowers are more unusual and strange than homescikness-inducing--some are odd amalgamations of several plants grafted onto one another, while others look like nothing he's ever even seen before.

Pausing in front of a tangle of climbing vines, he hesitantly reaches out and runs one finger gently over them, recoiling with a gasp when the plant wriggles at his touch.

"Hope they don't have any genetically enhanced Venus flytraps," he says, a little alarmed.

Sunset has always been his preferred time of day, but in the absence of that, a meteor shower is fine, too. Lea can be found on the observation deck watching the streaks of light as they lance across the sky. He looks a bit lost in thought, but if approached, he'll tear his eyes away and smile; he really wouldn't mind the company, even if he'll never admit it. He's a good storyteller, and a better listener, despite what you might think.

In Kurt's case, he's one of the Moirans that has been sent to help put out the fires and offer any first aid that people might need. The more injured beings he comes across, the more relieved he is that he'd asked Adrien to teach him whatever sort of medical treatments he knew; it's only been about a month since he started volunteering at the hospital, but he's learned a lot and knows it can be put to good use.

Spotting Lea using his powers to subdue the flames is an easy enough task and the blue boy wastes no time teleporting his way over, reappearing far enough away from any flames and running the remaining distance to his friend. "Lea!" he calls, reaching to rub away the ash staining his face from when he had run into some of the burning buildings for rescue.

"Are you hurt at all?" Just because someone can manipulate fire, doesn't mean they still can't get hurt by it, right?

[ Katsa isn't exactly sure it's lucky that she's already visiting Chioni when this happens, but she's certainly glad at least that she's able to respond as swiftly as she is to a cry for help.

Not that she's glad there's a disaster at all, despite the part of her that's relieved at least to be doing something. Not that she's glad anyone needs saving. Only that she's able to provide it, and that it's something to which she feels relatively suited for doing. Because though she's loathe to admit it Katsa is lost in this ridiculous place. "Space," whatever it is, is even more alien than the magical realm of Allaidh Darach, and though that had seemed all sorts of strange and unimaginable, there's something about this world that makes Katsa feel as though she truly doesn't belong.

But she can search. She can fight, whatever the miners have to say about these apparent monsters. She can survive.

It's the scream that sends Katsa running with only a moment to spare to glance at her companion, hurtling flat-out through the tunnels. And then it's only the barely-audible sound of something brushing against the ground that snaps her back around as she throws herself bodily at the person she's just almost left behind. ]

Katsa gets less sleep than most, for she needs it less, but even her Graceling body still needs a little. It just so happens that it's in the brief quarter-hour that she's ordered herself to fall asleep on the hard ground outside in the raging weather of Chioni that something flares and cracks and shakes. She's on her feet, squinting through the terrible light, even stumbling over the shifting ground as she never does, her instincts moving her to grab the dagger sheathed at the small of her back and turn it on the first thing that moves. ]

What's happening? What have you done?

Sure, Katsa can follow along after the burning creature leaving destruction in its wake. Sure, she can push closer on its tail through the fires, and longer, not minding the thought of food nor the flames that catch her sleeves and lick their way across her clothes, leaving charred holes and tears and lighting afire the bright pattern of flame tattooed across her upper back and arms. It's ironic, she thinks almost angrily when she sees it. Ironic that Nasrin had tattooed such a thing, when Nasrin isn't here, and someone else claiming her role is, and the flames don't move and dance at Katsa's fingertips like they did once before.

She can burn now, too. But she can't burn; she can't let anyone else burn.

There's a terrifying roar, and a crack, and she feels her heart sink as the building behind her begins to scream and crumble. It's too large, Katsa thinks, there must be someone in there, and without giving a second thought she charges directly into the building. ]

[ There's a moment where Hanzo can do no more than lift his head and gaze up at what's coming for them - he has his bow and scarce arrows with him and he's prepared to move forward, to do something. He might not be particularly fond of anyone here, not entirely, but that does not mean he is willing to sit back and let something damaging happen to the world he has found himself in. It would be a waste, and honour means that he must do what he can.

Of course, his frustration comes to the forefront when he is instantly accused of doing something wrong, teeth gritted before he steps back. ]

[ The six-hour decontamination process had been excruciating, not to mention how it played on all of Snake's paranoid tendencies as he wondered what sort of samples they were collecting on them as they waited. What might they do with his genetic material, if they got a hold of it? The options popping into his head are the stuff of science fiction horror stories, and he has half a mind just to head back to Thisavrou before anything worse happens.

But if the people here have created some kind of genetic nursery, Snake needs to see what that looks like and what it entails. Part of it is out of some sort of moral imperative, but there's also a part of him that's curious. He's never received many details about how he was born, what the environment during his first days had been like. He and Liquid must have been monitored in some lab somewhere as infants, but it's not something Snake usually likes to think about.

Faced with something similar, though, he has to see for himself.

When he makes it to an area where they're advertising for visitors to make changes to themselves, Snake can't keep the look of distaste off of his face. The casual way that the forms and signs speak about changing your physical form and finding your best self is off-putting, to say the least.

When someone steps up next to him, Snake glances over incredulously. ] You're not actually considering this, are you? [ Okay, he sounds a little judgmental. He can't help it. ]

day 11 (region 2)

[ It was probably only a matter of time before something like this happened. The unpredictable weather had been sign enough that a storm was coming; Snake just didn't expect it to be a firestorm.

He can't admit to having a lot of experience dealing with an emergency quite like this one, but with the news that the beast is making its way through Region 2, he doesn't hesitate to get involved. At least, he doesn't hesitate much—he has to take a brief detour to get some gear, a face-mask to protect against smoke insulation and a fire retardant suit to shield him from possible burns. Finally all that extra cash is coming in handy.

When he reaches Region 2, the monster's path of destruction is already well established. Some fields are completely ablaze, farmhouses are smoldering, and the creature itself doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon. It seems like the Savrii's government should be getting involved at this point, rather than recruiting transplants to do all the dirty work.

No time to worry about it now, though. Snake makes his way through the blazing landscape, searching any buildings that are still intact for survivors.

Whether it's teaming up with someone to fight the flames or evacuating an injured party, Snake won't rest until the fires have died down. ]

[ Angela had received David's message while already en route to the fires in her suit, replying back to say as much and batting down any attempts at dissuading he may have attempted (though certainly he knew better, and should have rightfully expected this exact outcome) because he wouldn't have messaged if he had thought she were safe. Her home was, certainly. Clear on the opposite side of the expansive farmlands. But when had she ever been the type to sit still? No, this right here is exactly what she's lived for. With the fire about her hair's braided and pinned up under a handkerchief she seems to be soaking with water, cheeks flushed red from the heat and wings never ceasing as she clears out animals and any possible inhabitants where she can. If they're mobile, she leaves them to herd off their animals to safety.

If not, she'll be leaving them at a temporary triage site and fixing her staff on them, handing it off to anyone assisting or the very same people she's already helped. She was just on her way back in when David appears, almost unrecognizable in a retardant uniform instead of fatigues or his own skintight suit. It's just a breather and the building should be clear, so she runs over to him to catch him up on the situation, splashing her face with water from her bottle once she's stopped, smearing soot. ]

This building should be clear and there weren't many injuries, but I was about to go in for one last sweep. [ Her voice comes out a little dry before a sip of water smooths the smoke back down. Then, with a little smile to bring some light back into the situation and sounding more herself: ] You look good in reflective wear, you know.

It's good to get off without having to worry about chasing after someone else. Fareeha is using her time on Asteroid 276 as a sort of vacation - one she did not expect to gain a furry little companion on.

While she's usually eager to help in any way she can, the idea of donating biological material is something she can't make an immediate decision on, so whether you find her on the observation deck, or in hydroponics, or just learning how to Petowner, she'll also be distracted by thoughts of helping out or staying unique.

He'd been interested in their hydroponics and wanted to have a look around. So he tucked his hands behind his back, lacing false and real fingers, and strolled up beside her to look around. "What do you think of what they're doing here?"

Longer than he’d realized, but the pay they mention is good and the work isn’t something he feels he’d struggle with.

When he gets there, he sees a few others he recognizes from the other planet and nods, heading over to the closest.]
