april mod plot log

Who: Everyone
When: April 1 to April 30th
Where: Thisavrou + New Worlds
Warnings: none in the writeup, but mark your subject headers where applicable!

thisavrou monthly info ( the tmi )

All information is current as of day 91 ( there are 100 days in a cycle, which started on January 1st).

For the past month, the storm surrounding Thisavrou has quieted almost to a stop. On April 11th, that will change drastically. As the cycle turns, all locations will be subject to a blinding flare of light... and shortly after, a crack of thunder that seems to shake both planets to their core. Emergency protections are quickly put in place, and despite the lancing, intermittent bursts of light, few structures of any kind take harm. But where the plumes of power make contact, the ground will be changed: sometimes aged, sometimes warped, and sometimes filled with a new shape altogether. After April 11, new arrivals may show up at ANY location.

For the first time in recorded history, the weather on Kauto has changed... to a shocking 68°F / 20°C during the day and 61°F / 16 °C at night. The climatologists are very excited. (No one else is.) Chioni, meanwhile, has dropped drastically, with peak highs of 70°F / 21°C and lows of -22F / -30°C in the EN-Line-adjacent regions.

Savrii Notices:

  • Kauto's merchants have stepped up trade in an effort to capitalize on comfort those panicked by the storm. Protective charms, safety guides, and Artifixx knockoffs are being sold, along with more practical supplies like first aid kits and preserved food. One merchant is making a killing with quadruple-strength umbrellas-- "in case of falling people".
  • Mission notices have been posted to TABs for anyone interested in earning a little extra cash. Available missions are listed below:

  • Day 94 (April 4th) - A mob of Spitelings has taken the climate shift as an opportunity, overrunning Chioni's Burg Three while hot-weather personnel were being cycled out. Survivors are reported, but unconfirmed. The mining companies will pay 300 sencs to anyone who helps to clear them out, with a bonus of 150 sencs per survivor rescued.
  • Day 1, new cycle (April 11) - The recently-acquired Artifixx technology proved crucial to keeping the Ingress Complex intact through the first onslaught of the heightened storm. But with readings projecting further escalation, it's vital to ensure the technology gets out-- and that all regions can be protected. Engineers, researchers, and others with appropriate skills will be compensated 300 sencs per week spent on the project.
  • Day 11, new cycle (April 21) - When storm energy left a smoldering heap of melted rocks in one of Kauto's mountains, observing researchers noted it as one phenomenon of many. When said heap stood up and started to rampage, they took a second look. One very angry landmass is trampling its way from Region Two through Three-- and leaving massive wildfires behind it. Panicked pleas have gone out for evacuation, rescue, and containment. Not many have a price attached, though financial gratitude can certainly be negotiated after.
  • ingress travel info

Signatures are the base reason for traveling through the Ingress (aside from general exploration and monetary gain) and are used to discover the correct world visitors on Thisavrou wish to return to. Every visit through a different Ingress brings the technicians a little closer to finding it.

Missions are jobs or specific tasks listed on the TAB once new worlds are open for exploration. Be sure to check if Clearance Levels are required to accept some of these missions.

Clearance Levels are given to visitors for the length of time they have been on Thisavrou (or traveling on the Moira). Each CL offers access to certain things or incentives that others will not have.

    Asteroid 276

In the search to find matching signatures, Thisavrou's Ingress technicians scan a vast array of worlds each cycle. It's very, very rare to find a world that shows all signs of scanning back. A series of careful transmissions back and forth identified the beings on the other side as tentatively friendly, leading Asteroid 276 to be opened as an Exploration Class world.

As much chaos as might be building in the void of space, the Ingress itself appears untouched... at least, for now. The world drops out from beneath you with a swooping sensation and a quiet hum. When reality returns, you find yourself inside a pleasant, well-appointed room, where a calm female voice asks you to please hold; she'll be there to help you shortly. A console on the wall accepts requests for drinks and food, provided a brief survey is completed to ensure biological compatibility. By the time you've taken a look around, the Greeter has arrived.

Asteroid 276 is a genetic nursery: a commune of talent pooled toward innovation and improvement of life itself. Founded by a group of scientists driven from their homeworld by war, its inhabitants have spent centuries in seclusion, developing their talents to cure diseases, solve resource shortages, and, of course, seek constant improvement of their own biology. All of this and more will be explained by the Greeter, who remains with your group throughout the mandatory six-hour decontamination. While she apologizes for the delay, it's necessary to ensure the safety of their work-- even the briefest exposure to some forms of contaminants could prove lethal to the new life they shelter. And while your breath and physical secretions are analyzed by researchers elsewhere, you have the opportunity to sit back in comfort, enjoying whatever they can tailor to your needs.

  • Once decontamination is complete, you are free to explore the station. The researchers hope to establish good trade relations with Thisavrou, as well as obtain whatever samples of diverse biology their visitors are willing to provide. As an apology for the delay and a welcome gift to hopeful partners, each arrival is provided with their own companion: a being tailored to guide them and help with their stay. About as smart as an intelligent dog, these creatures bond within minutes to the first being who touches them, becoming loyal allies and assistants at need.
  • Being literally built into the asteroid, the space station has everything it needs to be completely self-sufficient. Visitors can tour the hydroponics gardens, watch a meteor shower at the observation deck, or observe the menagerie of creatures kept for research. While the scientists have, for the most part, reached a stable consensus on their own perfected form, a wide and varied array of species are produced or altered in the labs...
  • ...including, if you wish, yourselves. The main resource the commune wishes to exchange is their own skills: an active form of gene therapy capable of curing disorders and even enhancing the biology of a living creature. While secretive about their methods, they can demonstrate results on both themselves and their creations, and promise no negative effects. Everyone strives to be their best self, after all. Is there anything they can do to help you reach that?
  • Clearance Information :

CL 1 - may visit freely and return
CL 2 - may transport personal belongings or trade items
CL 3 - may bring live creatures in (subject to standard decontamination)
CL 4 - may bring whatever weapons they may carry (though openly doing so will disturb the residents)
CL 5 - may negotiate large-scale trade agreements
    Missions available:
  • While Asteroid 276 is looking to establish longer-term relations, its residents certainly aren't opposed to more immediate trade. New genetic material (blood, flesh, or a close equivalent) is valued highly here, and will receive trade goods valuing at 50 sencs per distinct source exchanged. Live (non-sapient) creatures receive four times that value.
  • Information about new worlds is highly valued among the Savrii, particularly when they claim to offer as many solutions as this one. A reward of 200 sencs will be provided for verification of the commune's skills-- and twice that for any resources that might help Thisavrou.

(All sencs are awarded ICly when you come back through. OOCly, you keep track of what you earn.)

  • Important note: More information on Asteroid 276 will be revealed as the month goes on, depending on the nature of player interactions with the setting. Feel free to ask questions here or on the feedback page, and check out the NPC starter if you're so inclined. Don’t forget to respond to the Activity Check!

[ If Ana doesn't want to acknowledge how easily that could be misinterpreted, then so be it. Snake isn't going to split hairs over it. It's something that's been cleared up easily enough, even if he's still curious to know how it happened.

That's not the kind of thing you ask someone you barely know, though.

When she suggests he might be interested in the alterations, Snake practically recoils before he shakes his head. ]

No, not for me. Not to mention this place has fishy written all over it.

    [ There's nothing wrong with a healthy paranoia. ]

( You boys and your paranoia. She's not sure if she'd like to see them in the same room or not. You know who she's thinking of here

Still. It earns him a quirk of her lips )

It seems like something that should be looked into. The consequences seem too high to simply leave it.

    ( She's not a fan of fishy either )
soldiergenes: (and you've got no strength to move on)

[ Jack and Snake in the same room hasn't gone as badly as expected. They may feed each others' conspiracy theories, but they've also managed to do things like share a meal and spar together without anything catastrophic happening.

While Ana's mild in her phrasing, it's easy to see her meaning. Snake takes a look around them and then nods. ]

If you want to take a shot at accessing the parts of this place that aren't open to visitors, I'm not gonna say no.

[ He'd already been considering it himself. It's not a good way to behave when they're supposed to be guests, but this isn't something Snake can just turn a blind eye to. ]

Having the assistance would be useful.

( And they could continue their earlier conversation. Working together would give her a look into him -- what skills he had from his work, and what kind of person he was )

Come. We can't spend all of our time in one place.

( They need a view of the whole place to know what's up, and find somewhere better to talk )
soldiergenes: (there will come a time)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-04-28 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Ana won't be the only one doing some assessing during this temporary team-up. Snake is also looking to learn more about her, seeing how he's found himself somehow linked to a number of people from her version of Earth.

At her cue, Snake nods and moves down the hallway, eyes scanning on either side for anything that looks interesting -- or purposefully uninteresting.

He's watching Ana too, though. ]

You seem to have settled in pretty quick.
    sleepdarts: (ғᴏʀᴛʏ ɴɪɴᴇ)

    [personal profile] sleepdarts 2017-05-01 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It helps when you already have somewhere to live.

( It was easy to slip back into any of the routines that she'd had previously with Jack, and with the revelation of his identity she'd had a few things to start her off before really having to settle )

I am also not good at simply sitting around.

( Is that enough for him? She doubts he's simply being pleasant, when he hadn't known her before. Not that he's ever mentioned )
soldiergenes: (from the weak hands of the poor)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-05-03 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, neither am I. It's been an adjustment, although it would get slow on the Moira too.

[ Not to mention the claustrophobic factor of being trapped on a spaceship, even if the Moira had been fairly large.

Seeing how they're both soldiers, though, it doesn't surprise Snake at all that Ana is a busybody. ]

What region are you in? Two? [ Jack and Angela are both there, so call it an educated guess. ]
    sleepdarts: (ᴛʜɪʀᴛʏ ғɪᴠᴇ)

    [personal profile] sleepdarts 2017-05-07 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I am. Plenty of room for dogs to run around.

( Dogs like Eiger, the one that Snake had helped Angela with. The two women had chatted a little about that, and Snake after Ana had 'settled' somewhat. Tea and gossip )

Though perhaps not for me. I don't think I'm up to running after a dog.

    ( Just bad guys )
    soldiergenes: (and another has not)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-06-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's odd that Ana would mention dogs specifically, unless she already knows something about him. Snake goes silent for a moment, not sure how to react at first. It feels like she's baiting him, if subtly. ]

If you're on farmland, seems like you'd be dealing with some animals, at least.

[ That's more or less the point, unless all Ana's doing is growing crops. ]

Some dogs are good for herding cattle and that kind of thing. You might want to reconsider.

[ Well, he can't be that neutral. He's definitely a dog lover. ]
    sleepdarts: (sɪxᴛʏ ɴɪɴᴇ)

    [personal profile] sleepdarts 2017-06-05 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
( Haha sucks to be you, Snake. The only animals she's got hanging around are bees. No cattle, or anything he's thinking of )

We only have crops. Trees, tea.

( And that's all hers. Okay maybe she could share some... )

But if that changed I might consider it.

( And pawn it off onto Jack )
soldiergenes: (on the edge of his porch)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-06-29 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's not like Snake knows the first thing about farming, but it figures that Ana would have picked something a little less involved. Taking care of animals would require a lot more work, or so he guesses.

They're getting deeper into the bowels of the complex, passing signs indicating laboratories and a nursery and various other unsettling things.

Snake talks because it's better than silence right now. ]

I'm guessing you didn't do much farming back home. [ She'd been one of the people in charge of Overwatch, a sniper who'd lost her eye in battle (or so he assumes). It doesn't seem like there'd be any time for it. ] What made you decide to pick it up here?
    sleepdarts: (sɪxᴛʏ ᴇɪɢʜᴛ)

    [personal profile] sleepdarts 2017-07-01 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
My roommate knows more about it.

( And if she's being honest it's Jack that's doing most of the work, him and his farm hands. Ana has learned some of it whilst she's been here, and it would have been difficult to remain ignorant )

When I arrived here he invited me to stay. It's his farm.
soldiergenes: (and i have no idea)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-07-10 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Her roommate. Someone who lives on a farm. It's not that hard to put two and two together, here. Jack lives in Region 2, he and Ana ran Overwatch together, and she'd reached out to him when she first arrived. ]

    You mean Jack Morrison, right?

[ Just for the sake of manners, he keeps his tone hushed. Jack's identity is still not known to everyone, and Snake wants to make clear that he's cognizant of that. ]
    sleepdarts: (ɴɪɴᴇᴛʏ)

    [personal profile] sleepdarts 2017-07-11 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
( Ana's gaze sharpens for a few seconds, searching-- probing his expression further before giving him the slightest of nods in confirmation )

    You've met him?

( Or had other sources given him the name? )
soldiergenes: (out of your bad dreams)

    [personal profile] soldiergenes 2017-07-27 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Even with only one eye to see it in, Snake catches that look. There's a protectiveness there. If they've fought together for decades, as the story goes, then it's to be expected.

    He nods. ]
We've worked together. I know he isn't that forthcoming about who he is, so I'm not spreading that around -- don't worry.

[ He's a spy, he knows how it goes. ]
