Where: The Mini Colony of the Runoff & the Moira.
What: The Moira stops to resupply at the closest planet and things get weird.

E V E N T L O G

Between the Perspectives "but in your future, the you i see is exactly the person you always wanted to be." Supplies have been loaded onto the ship, and the captains have encouraged all crew members to explore with the added notice that this will be the last planetary stop (hopefully) until the Moira reaches the Midway Hub. While seemingly uneventful on the Moira, the mini colony has been thrumming with adventure and has offered its visitors the opportunity to explore. To those who have indulged, some experienced great changes and others discovered enlightening information about the Ingress and the very ship some have called home for over a year. Later in the month, the Lamaria hold the closing ceremony of the Desiderium Festival (which was noted on the prior event log) . The burgundy and lime colors of the celebration slowly fade into black and vermillion, and small fires are now in place for visitors to throw their written notes into. Everyone who participates will be blessed by one of the Lamaria (they will visit the ship as well), and the MID will be able to only translate bits and pieces of what this blessing means. "Experienced loss — every story is different — and saying goodbye — not to know — understanding lies in the mingling of holding on and letting go." ☄ TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL For some, it might be due to a touch or a look. For others, it might not be any of those things at all, and something that just happens. Either way, shortly after the blessing occurs, you will find yourself changing. Your character’s body will slowly transform into the physical likeness of another being on the Mini Colony. The effects of this change may last as short as a day or as long as a week, but each come with their own stipulations—advantages and disadvantages. This is limited to one as the blessing itself only allows for “a little understanding”. Linked below are some of the possible transformations that your character can go through. Players can choose either one of the mod-supplied suggestions or choose the form of another already living on the Moira. ☄ THE FEAR MACHINE Paranoia writes the checks, we're dangling here like a marionette. Here we go again, the world is coming to an end. Engage the fear machine and collect the dividends. While the festival is beautiful, and some have found enlightenment and understanding here, there are those on the mini colony who don't enjoy the festivities. In a secluded room on the fifth floor in one of the buildings in the Science District, there is one such person who finds the religious festival to be a nuisance—one who should be stopped. Thinking that disrupting the blessings and celebration will somehow "get back" at the Lamaria for impeding their work (some of those who have transformed got into the building a few years ago and destroyed this person's property). Pettiness thrives, and they create something they dub The Fear Machine. Yet, while the science is sound, the technology itself is not. In the middle of the mini colony, the machine is set off, and bolts of transparent energy erupt and spark out around it, stretching as far as the docked ships. Since the technology wasn't created properly to sustain the energy, it doesn't spread out evenly like they had hoped. Some are hit. Some are not. Those who are will develop a sudden and overwhelming phobia that will last well into the beginning of November. The machine might be turned off and left behind, but the obsessive fear has only just begun. ( ooc; For questions, go here. [Honestly? Honestly. The only response Genji deigns to give 76 at that particular statement is a tilt of his head to replace the disbelieving eyebrow that's hidden behind his faceplate. It's a pretty good match to Angela's own quirked brow. With that message sent, he gives a silent sigh, and then drops his attitude long enough to offer the vigilante-turned-wolfman a courteous dip of his head.]

My name is Genji Shimada. It is... [a pause. 'Nice' would be a blatant lie, so:] interesting to meet you.

['Interesting' covers meeting a potential enemy of Overwatch while they've been changed into a dog, right? Probably.

Anyway, proper greetings given, he turns back to try and address Angela's problem, voice thoughtful as he speaks.]

A message on the MID, perhaps? Though it seems difficult to truly judge the scale of this particular... event. [Said in a way that makes it clear he's unsure of his wording, but really, what kind of terminology can you put on something like this?] Is it always this, ah... spread out, when something like this happens?

[76 has to stop himself from growling at Angela--or at least his admonishment, but he doesn't seem happy about having a finger wagged at him. He tries to keep his attention on Genji, instead.]

I know who you are.

[A vigilante breaking into old Overwatch bases would have some knowledge of Overwatch's members, right? It's not at all out of the question, and it's a good way to let Genji know where they stand.

Speaking of standing, 76 is going to do just that. He's not a small man on a good day, and he's at least a foot and a half taller as a space werewolf when he draws himself up to his full height. Genji and Angela talk, but he knows they won't be able to ignore him extricating himself from his corner, inserting himself into the conversation.]

If it's a shipwide problem, you're gonna have your hands full sooner rather than later.

[ Genji had always been polite, even if it came with an edge. Any other time she may have been amused with his protectiveness and his careful manner, but 76 had been through enough in the last few hours. Angela can at least mitigate their meeting and keep things civil. His curtness is about all she could ask of him, but 76 responds... about as expected.

Now look, she didn't wag a finger at him or even point at him!! He's not a dog!! Well, not normally. It'd been a request for a moment's pause. He had been exhausted, and then he'd withdrawn back into himself, but he had remained with Angela in the medbay. She couldn't quite say why, but his company had been quiet and pleasant, watchful if anything. And now he's rising up onto his feet and drawing to his full height, and she can't help but crane her head back to look up at him. ]

A message may be a good idea, you're right. It's been a reliable mode of contact so far. The transmission may help. But 76 is right; it is often on a large scale and they get hectic quickly.

It seems there are many things in space that are inexplicable for our understanding; I wish I could say I wasn't surprised at this point, but...

[ Well. Their known very-human vigilante is now a space werewolf, so. She was still finding surprises even three months later. ]

[REALLY. Genji is silent as 76 rises to full height and forces himself into the conversation, as if he couldn't have entered it while remaining sitting, but the silence in itself is telling. Genji is doing his best to be civil, as Angela has requested, but he can tell when someone is doing their damnedest to goad him and 76 is not even trying to hide it right now. He knows, in retrospect, he started it no matter how understandable his suspicion is, but that doesn't make this any less irritating.

He takes a moment to remember Zenyatta's practices, to calm and center himself once more before he responds.]

A fair point, [he concedes, and even bothers to spare 76 a nod to show his acknowledgment of the fact that he was the one to make it. An attempt to deescalate, though he doesn't expect it to work as he hopes.] I am still surprised by being in space, though I suppose I should appreciate the early warning I'm getting.

[There's a note of humor in his voice as he says it. Could be worse than being dropped off shortly before an event like this; he could have been hit by it.]

[Nope, he's here now, he's in this conversation, and he isn't about to leave. Maybe he's doing it just to see if Genji's going to snap, even. From what he remembers of the kid, 76 certainly expects it. Perhaps it's throwing him off a bit that he seems to be taking measured efforts to calm himself.

It's interesting, but he's not sure if he should push it further, given the fact that he's in medbay and he's willing to bet Angela would not at all hesitate to chastise him. Better to create some sort of game plan.]

[ The silence is telling, and 76 is doing an awful job at trying to return the civility shown to him so Angela has no qualms in taking his arm, fingers curling at his elbow as she lays her palm flat against him. It's by no means a difficult hold to shake, running her hand down his arm to settle at the crook, but now she has a hand on each one meant to bridge the two together.

Bless Genji, he's trying so hard and there isn't a doubt in her mind that it's being done for her. It's so good to have him back, really and truly. And while 76 is clearly goading him, it's not to the usual degree to be outright ferocious, and her hands seek to calm them both down and encourage a friendly enough meeting. (Better than most 76 has made, at least; he has yet to punch Genji. She will try to keep it that way.) ]

Just know that I and the others will always be here to help, no matter what may come. I can't guarantee I'll be able to fix them, as 76 can surely tell you, I'm afraid. Whatever happens tends to fade in a few days, though... whether it's something preventative in our systems upon arrival or what, I couldn't say.

[ Then, to 76 trying to work into an escape: ]

I wasn't done with you, yet. There were a few other things I need to look into and that I wanted to try.

[Genji doesn't miss the significance of Angela making a bridge of herself between him and 76. Between that and 76 apparently having given up on goading in favor of attempting an escape, Genji finds it easier to settle himself, the rest of the tension easing itself out of his body. He's certain this will be far from the last conflict he has with 76, but it is the end of this one.]

Your presence here is already great reassurance, doctor.

[Even if she can't do anything for him in the future in the face of a ship event, having her by his side would be a balm in and of itself and Genji knows it. Angela is very good at her job; even in his some of his darkest moments she'd found ways to calm him down. If he's lucky he won't have to deal with the ship's changes at all, but from what he's been told, the very changes he's witnessed in this one, tells him that he shouldn't pin too much on that particular hope.

Either way, he dips his head in a nod of respect to Angela.]

[76 is perfectly content to march right out the door (and go somewhere, anywhere else), but he freezes when Angela chastises him. The fact that he stops walking in the first place makes him curse himself inwardly, but old habits die increasingly hard.

The end result is him caught between her and Genji, looking all at once incredibly uncomfortable and possibly a little miffed that he’s been interrupted and made to stay here with a potentially hostile ex-Overwatch agent.]

[ If it was all Angela could offer, she would give everyone here best effort. Pour her very soul into easing pains and troubles, soothing chaotic minds, and at least let those she helps know that she's tried everything in her power. That held especially true for those she cared about, Genji at the top of that pile simply because of how much he's already been through and how closely she'd want to monitor his body. She doesn't know what would happen to him and she'll be on edge every time one of these afflictions go around, likely. His words are genuine and she returns the nod just as respectfully, giving his hand a little squeeze. ]

You'll always have it. And your company would be plenty welcome; if you wanted to keep an eye on messages over the network or those nearby, as well, I wouldn't say no. You know how I am with social media.

[ "Terrible, and also avoidant". It had never quite been her style and she did as little as necessary for her position. When 76 stops dead in his tracks between them, nearly bumping into their linked hands Red Rover, Red Rover, let 76 on over? Angela offers a gentle guidance with her hand at his arm to urge him a step back, moving to put herself between them again.

He can look as miffed as he likes, even over seven feet tall; Angela doesn't cower or even seem put off, looking right up at him with a softening expression that seems apologetic for not allowing him to leave. ]

I wanted to give you your time, but I think a couple of samples will help me going forward in testing various options. Especially with the herbs we have aboard the ship; I'm not familiar with many of them and I don't want to be applying them without a better understanding of them. If you want to take some more time, though, I can leave with Genji and let you stay here in the office.

[ With his things. No shame in reaching up to smooth along his neck, hand resting at his shoulder somewhere halfway between a soothing touch and something to urge him to walk behind her so she can urge Genji the other way. She doesn't want there to be any excuse for either to get in each other's faces. ]

So I am to be your PR, then?

[There's nothing but amusement in his voice as he says it. But Angela could do worse in terms of PR; it may have been a while since Genji was active with social media, but he certainly remembers the hours wiled away on status updates and selfies.

The talk of samples and testing have him sobering quick, quiet before he speaks again, visor turned toward 76 now.]

I'll step out during the medical proceedings.

[Genji understands nothing if not a need for privacy in medical operations when one is utterly out of their zone. He's pretty sure being turned into a giant space wolf counts for that. He's maybe starting to regret jumping ahead so rashly. 76, again, wholly deserves his suspicion, but he's also utterly out of his element at the moment; that, and as easily as he could have pushed his way through them both and left the medbay, he allowed himself to be stopped by Angela instead. It counts for something. The offer is probably as far as Genji will get to something like an apology to 76.]

Doesn’t matter to me.

[He’s leveling his stare at Genji again, perhaps to make him purposefully uncomfortable. If he doesn’t get to leave, then everyone gets to feel super awkward, apparently. 76 grumbles a little as he heads back to his corner and settles into it once more. Exam tables are for people not turned into space werewolves, apparently. Angela can come to him.]

Let’s get it over with.

You'd be the best anyone could ever ask for; but only if you wouldn't mind. Just letting me know if you see any posts in distress of the sort, and I can figure it out from there.

[ Genji catches on easily enough with the topic's turn, and his offer to leave is met with an apologetic little smile and a nod that silently conveys it would be for the best, even as 76 turns on his heel and goes back to hunch in the corner. He seemed to be safest there; it was the least likely position anyone could get the drop on him, and offered the widest angle of view on the room. Clear sight of the entry, tucked to the side so he wasn't in immediate view. That tactical mind seems to duck in and out of survival mode and military training couldn't be more obvious in his background than it is in these moments.

Angela will turn to slip an arm up over Genji's shoulder to draw him into a brief hug before he gets the chance to go. ]

Thank you, Genji. I'm sorry your arrival is with this sort of strangeness right on your heels. A little privacy would be nice, thank you.

[ Whether 76 cared or no, Angela upholds her standards in practice even in space, lightyears from home. She'll only move for her petri kits once Genji's moving to leave before she's back at 76's side— his side, specifically, so he won't feel walled in. She'll just take some hair, just a few plucked with the root, and a cheek swab. That his very DNA has mutated is clear enough, but perhaps if it's unstable she can work on a quicker return to normal. ]
